Advent means the coming ; so not only are we preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, we are also preparing for his coming again to redeem us all. In Revela on 1:8 the Lord God says I am the Alpha the Omege, who is, who was, who is to come, the Almighty. Are your prepara ons well under way? Not just the decora ons, cards, presents, food; are you prepared in your hearts for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ? He is coming at a me that no one knows, so we need to be constantly ready. I found the following in a magazine over forty years ago it is s ll relevant today:- He descended that we might ascend (John 6:38; John14:3) He became poor that we might become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9; James 2:5) He was born that we might be born again (John 1:14; John 3:1-7) He became a servant that we might become sons (Philippians 2:7; Gala ans 4:6-7) He had no home that we might have a home in Heaven (Ma hew 8:20; John 14:2) He was hungry that we might be fed (Ma hew 4:2; John 6:50) He was thirsty that we might drink of the wells of salva on (1 John 19:28; Isaiah 12:3) He was wearied that we might rest (1 John 4:6; Ma hew 11:29) He was stripped that we might be clothed (Ma hew 27:28; Revela on 3:5) He was forsaken that we might not be forsaken (Ma hew 27:46; Hebrews 13:5) He was sad that we might be glad (Isaiah 53:3; Philippians 4:4) He was bound that we might go free (Ma hew 27:2; John 8:32-36) He was made sin that we might be made righteous (2 Corinthians5:21) He died that we might live (1 John 19:33; John 5:24 25) He will come down that we may be caught up (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)

The Methodist Church in Lincoln, in partnership with the diocese, are holding discussion groups about science faith, based on materials produced by the Faraday Ins tute for Science Religion in Cambridge. These will take place at Burton Road Methodist Church, at 7 for 7.30pm on Tuesday evenings for 5 weeks, beginning on the 9th January 2018. For more informa on please contact Rev Helen Hooley, or visit h p://www.testoffaith.com Saturday 18th January 2018 We are arranging a Safari Supper. As this will be our first social event of the year, we hope you can support our venture. Tickets will cost 5 per person (hosts do not pay); this includes Starter, Main, Dessert Coffee. If you feel happy to host a starter main for six people (two hosts plus four guests) would you please phone Dawn on 01522 752196 as soon as possible. Hosts will be given 15 towards the cost of the starter main course. Marcus Alyson have very kindly offered to host the dessert course at their home where everyone will meet up. Hopefully it will work like this :- Four people visit a home for a starter, they then split move onto another home for the main course, this gives as many people as possible the opportunity to socialise. I expect I will need to tweak a few details, but hope everyone will feel happy to par cipate. Tickets will be available from 17th, at Church or phone Dawn on 01522752196.
