Shob-e-Barat All Praise and thanks be to Allah! We praise and thank Him, ask Him for His Help and Forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our souls and the mischief of our deeds. He whom Allah guides will not be misled, and he whom Allah misleads will never have a guide. I testify that there is no deity but Allah alone, without any partners, and that Muhammad is His 'Abd (worshiper) and Messenger. 1 They say - We do fast on this day (Shob-e-Barat); BUT Hadith says: The Prophet (PBUH) was keen to fast on Mondays and Thursdays." al-tirmidhi, al-nasaa i, Ibn Maajah, classed as Saheeh by al-albaani in Saheeh al- Targheeb, 1044 The Prophet (PBUH) said: Deeds are shown (to Allaah) on Mondays and Thursdays, and I like my deeds to be shown when I am fasting. al-tirmidhi, 747; classed as Saheeh by al-albaani in Saheeh al-targheeb, 1041 Abu Hurayrah (RA) said: My close friend [the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)] advised me to do three things which I will not give up until I die: fasting three days of each month, praying Duha, and sleeping after Witr." al-bukhaari & Muslim 2 They say - On this day Allah we cook dishes and share it with our relatives & the neighbours; BUT Hadith says which applies throughout the year that the Messenger of Allah, (PBUH) said: "He is not a believer who eats his fill whilst his neighbour beside him goes hungry." al-bukhari
3 They say - Allah Descends to the lowest Heaven; BUT Ahadith say which apply throughout the year that the Prophet of Allah (PBUH) said: Our Lord Descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: `Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him? Who is asking something of Me so I may give it to him? Who is asking for My forgiveness so I may forgive him? al-bukhari & Muslim The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, The best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer (Tahajjud). al-muslim 4 They say - Shab-e-Barat is the night when Almighty Allah arranges affairs of the whole next one-year including the writing of all births and deaths on universe on the Loh-e-Mehfooz. BUT References say that the Preserved Tablet is the record in which Allaah The Almighty has recorded the fate of His creatures before He created them. In this regard, He Says (what means): {Do you not know that Allaah knows what is in the heaven and earth? Indeed, that is in a Record.} [Quran 22: 70] In his interpretation of this verse, Ibn Atiyyah may Allaah have mercy upon him said that the record in this verse refers to the Preserved Tablet. Allaah The Almighty also Says (what means): {No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a Record before We bring it into being.} [Quran 57: 22] Al-Qurtubi may Allaah have mercy upon him mentioned in his interpretation of this verse that the record mentioned here refers to the Preserved Tablet (Loh-e- Mehfooz). The Prophet (PBUH) said that Allaah The Almighty was there when there was nothing else; His Throne was above water; He wrote everything in the Record and He created the heavens and the earth." al-bukhaari In his explanation of this Hadeeth, Al-Haafith Ibn Hajar may Allaah have mercy upon him mentioned that the record in this Hadeeth refers to the Preserved Tablet.
Du a is an act of worship. It is the weapon of the believer and the only thing which can change Fate or Destiny. Allah Says in Holy Quran: And your Lord said: Invoke Me [i.e. believes in My Oneness and asks Me for anything] I will respond to your (invocation). Verily, those who scorn My worship [i.e. do not invoke Me, and do not believe in My Oneness] they will surely enter Hell in humiliation! [Surah Ghaafir 40:60] In another Verse, Allah says: And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad PBUH) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me [Surah al-baqarah 2:186] The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said: Nothing can change the Divine decree except Dua. Ahmad, Ibn Maajah, al-tirmidhi, Classed as Hasan by al-albaani in Saheeh al-jaami, 76687 The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said: No precaution can protect against the decree of Allaah. Du aa is beneficial with regard to what has been decreed and what has not been decreed. The du aa meets the calamity that has been decreed and wrestles with it, until the Day of Resurrection. al-tabaraani, Al-Albaani said Hasan in Saheeh al-jaami, 7739 5 They say - It's a special day to perform Dhikr of Allah; BUT references say which apply throughout the year that Allah, Exalted be He, says: "O You who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance. al-qur'an 33:41 The Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon him) said, There are two statements that are light for the tongue to remember, heavy in the Scales and are dear to the Merciful: `Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, Subhan-Allahil-Azim [Glory be to Allah and His is the praise, (and) Allah, the Greatest is free from imperfection). al-bukhari and Muslim 6 They say - It's a special night of Forgiveness; BUT References say which apply throughout the year that Allah, Exalted be He, says:
"And those who, when they have committed Fahishah (illegal sexual intercourse etc.) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins; - and none can forgive sins but Allah - And do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know. For such, the reward is Forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens with rivers flowing underneath (Paradise), wherein they shall abide forever. How excellent is this reward for the doers (who do righteous deeds according to Allah's Orders)." al-quran 3:135-136 7 They say - We are doing nothing but good deeds which are followed by huge people; are they all wrong including some well knowledgeable scholars! BUT References say that Allah, Exalted be He, says: "And when it is said to them, Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Messenger, they say: That on which we found our fathers is sufficient for us. What! even though their fathers knew nothing and did not follow the right way. al-qur'an 5:104 "And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allah. They follow not except assumption, and they are not but falsifying." al-quran 6:116 "Verily! The worst of (moving) living creatures with Allah are the deaf and the dumb, those who understand not (i.e. the disbelievers)." al-quran 8:22 "Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much." al-qur'an 33 21 The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "He who innovates something in this matter of ours [Islam] that is not of it will have it rejected [by Allah]." al-bukhari & Muslim And, he (PBUH) said, "He who does an act which we have not commanded, will have it rejected [by Allah]." al-muslim - I end here along with last two references which we all should take very seriously regarding the sources we take for our religion without verification.
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people but rather he takes away knowledge with the death of the scholars until he leaves no scholar behind and the people turn to the ignorant as their leaders. They are asked to give religious judgments without knowledge, thus, they are led astray and lead others astray. al-bukhari & Muslim And he (PBUH) warned us saying, "There are some that I fear more for you than I do the Antichrist (Dajjal). People asked, 'Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?' He (PBUH) said, 'Evil scholars.'" The beginning of guidance by Imam Abu Hamid al- Ghazali, P.20 Therefore, I urge everyone to learn the religion from the reliable sources to be benefitted at large and not to be from amongst those who are oblivious and ignorant as the Messenger Of Allah (PBUH) said: "Seeking Knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim." Ibn 'Adiyy, Al-Bayhaqi & Al-Tabarani May the Almighty bestow us His forgiveness and enrich us with His divine Knowledge. Indeed, success is from Allah and He is the Most Wise.
