Epiphany I: The Family of God Mark 3:31-35 02/13/11 Valentines Day! Love God, Love your neighbor. Mark 3:31 And his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside they sent to him and called him. Mark 3:32 And a crowd was sitting about him; and they said to him, "Your mother and your brothers are outside, asking for you." Mark 3:33 And he replied, "Who are my mother and my brothers?" Mark 3:34 And looking around on those who sat about him, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! Mark 3:35 Whoever does the will of God is my brother, and sister, and mother."
To whom do you surrender? Surrender.
Chain of command: when the General surrenders, everybody surrenders.
Chain of Command: the path of communication
Are you surrendered? There was a joke in today's sermon. This morning I prayed: Lord, what do you think of the sermon? The answer came: That joke's got to come out. It's not good enough for My people. Aye, aye, sir.

Christian Chain of Command Jesus Me
1 Tim 2:1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. 3 This is good, and it is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
1 Tim 2:5-6 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony to which was borne at the proper time.

The joke that got dropped:
General: Leaps tall buildings in a single bound, is more powerful than a locomotive, is faster than a speeding bullet, walks on water, and gives policy to God. Who do you know? Colonel: Leaps short buildings in a single bound, is more powerful than a switch engine, is just as fast as a speeding bullet, walks on water if the sea is calm, and talks to God.
Lt. Colonel: Leaps short buildings with a running start and a favorable wind, is almost as powerful as a switch engine, is faster than a speeding B-B, walks on water in an indoor swimming pool, and talks to God if special request is approved. Major: Barely clears Quonset huts, loses tug-of-war with locomotives, can fire a speeding bullet, swims well, and is occasionally addressed by God.
Captain: Makes high marks when trying to leap buildings, is run over by locomotives, can sometimes handle a weapon without inflicting self-injury, can dog paddle, and talks to animals. Who do you know? 1st Lieutenant: Runs into buildings, recognizes locomotives two out of three times, is not issued ammunition, can stay afloat if properly instructed, and talks to water.
2nd Lieutenant: Trips over doorsills when trying to enter buildings, says "look at the choo-choo," soaks himself with a water pistol and mumbles to himself. Sergeant (all grades): Lifts buildings and walks under them, kicks locomotives off the track, catches speeding bullets in his teeth and chews them, and freezes water at a glance.
