One-Minute Summary A quick review of the most important information in the newsletter. Pastor Joel introduces the Forty Day Prayer Covenant on page 2. Will you commit to make 2018 a Summer of Prayer? Check out page 3 for the 40 Day Prayer Covenant Card! Our mission trip is days away! We are so excited for what God is going to do in and through us during the week. For more information on the mission trip and other summer events flip over to pg. 5. Page 9 has some exciting news about VBS this year! During Pastor Joel s sermon on May 20th, he mentioned 59 One Anothers in the New Testament. The list can be found on page 13 & 14. 1

A word from Pastor Joel Dear Church, Have you ever felt that your prayer life was lacking? Do you want to grow in prayer and are not sure where to start? This summer at First Church, we are encouraging you to take part in the Forty Day Prayer Covenant. The Prayer Covenant is a simple, pre-written prayer that you pray each day for yourself and for another person. The prayer covers ten important topics, including grace, love, compassion, and repentance. The hope is that as you pray each day, you become more comfortable in prayer and develop your relationship with God. The goal of the Prayer Covenant is that two or more people decide to follow Jesus together. You make a commitment to pray this prayer for at least one other person for the rest of the summer. As with anything else, growing in prayer takes time and experience. The Prayer Covenant can be a tool that God uses to grow and mature you in your prayer life, and in your relationship with him as a whole. Imagine what God can do as you pray daily for yourself and another person! The Prayer Covenant is also a way for us to remain connected as a church throughout the busy summer. Weekends in the summer are often consumed with family vacations, camping trips, and sports camps. The Prayer Covenant is a way we can remain united together, even if we may not see each other every Sunday. As you pray for another person, you can also pray the Prayer Covenant for First Church and the New Knoxville community. Imagine what God can do when his children unite together in prayer! Each week, we will post reminders, scripture, and other encouragements on our Facebook page. Beginning the week of June 24, we will focus on each one of the ten themes in the Prayer Covenant. This schedule will bring us right up to the start of the Sunday School year. More information about the Prayer Covenant, including downloadable copies of the prayer, can be found on our website and www.prayercovenant.org. Join us as we commit to make 2018 a summer of prayer and seek the Lord together as one church! In Christ, Pastor Joel 2
