IN CHRIST THE WIFE DWELLETH THE FULLNESS OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST Greetings to each one of you this morning. I trust you are feeling good and are rejoicing in the Lord. Today we re reading in the Book of Colossians, which is one of Paul s prison letters that has some real good reading in it. All the Word of God is wonderful to read; especially the writings of the Apostle Paul, because he was the apostle to call out a people for Christ s name sake. I want to mention here that by this time in Paul s life he had been ministering for many years and was fully matured in the ways of the Lord and in the things pertaining to the espousal of the virgin that was destined to become the wife of the Lamb. And he passed on this understanding to us by his writings. This makes us rejoice and thank God for His choosing of the Apostle Paul who was the apostle to the espoused virgin in the first step of becoming the wife of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is seen in this fullness of Christ that we are now experiencing since we have passed the till of Ephesians 4:13. So with that being said, I want to entitle our message, In Christ the Wife Dwelleth the Fullness of the Lord Jesus Christ. This title brings to mind a message that I preached some time back entitled, The Dropdown Box for the Love of God; How God Put a Face on His Love, (which was through the Lord Jesus Christ). I received a lot of good comments on that message; everyone seemed to really like it. Jesus represented all things that God is; especially in relationship to the human race. And the Bible says that God gave Him not the Spirit by measure, as He does individual members of the body of Christ. Although, the body as a whole is given the Spirit of Christ without measure, the

members have all the fruits and gifts of the Spirit to profit withal. (1 Corinthians, Chapter 12, and Galatians 5:22-26) So let s ask the Lord to open up His Word to us with a word of prayer. Heavenly Father, we come to you now, Lord. We come to you blessing your name, praising your name, and thanking you, Lord, because you re the same yesterday, today, and forever, and because you re with us, as well as in us, and we re in you. Lord, this is a time when we really rely upon your sufficiency to bring the Word. Paul said, Our sufficiency is of the Lord. I pray, Lord, that you will furnish that anointing that we may speak words that will be of help and of an edifying nature to the wife of the Lamb and to all those that hear. We ask this in Jesus Christ s name. Amen. We re reading here in the Book of Colossians. As I mentioned earlier, Paul had already been ministering many years, thirty years or so, at this time. When he wrote this letter it was about 64 A.D. And at that time his revelation had become so deeprooted in Christ that it was hard for the people of the world to understand what he was saying. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:11, For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. So it got so deep that only those that were of a great spiritual depth in Christ could really get what he was saying. He even said in Colossians 1:12-13, Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the Kingdom of His dear Son. By this time he began to reveal more about the Lord Jesus Christ, such as in Colossians, Chapter 2, where he said in Verse 9, For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Meaning that all that God wants us humans to know and understand about God at this time, was all bundled up in Jesus Christ. Now when we say, all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, it doesn t mean all of God. God is so great that He is everywhere present at the same time. Here we must look at Jesus Christ as

being like going to the ocean and getting a big barrel of water out of it. Now in that big barrel of ocean water is everything the ocean contains, such as the salt and all the nutrients. But this big barrel doesn t contain all the ocean. And in getting this barrel of water it didn t drain the ocean. Here we see that although Jesus Christ had the fullness of the Godhead in Him, it was only the fullness as it related to mankind. This is important to understand as we show our reaching the fullness of the man Christ Jesus. Because now that we have reached the fullness of Christ, this by no means diminishes the position of the Lord Jesus Christ as our King, Lord, and Husband. So in Christ Jesus dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. This is the way God wanted His people to see Him as He expressed Himself in Jesus Christ; not just as a spirit, as Job said in 9:32-33, For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment. Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both. but Job looked for someone to reveal and help us to understand this mystery of how we could understand God. He longed to have someone to help us in this task, using the word daysman. The word daysman is only used one time in the Bible, and it means someone that would stand between God and mankind; like a lawyer that would stand between you and the judge. And now we have that man who can talk to both God and man; it s Christ Jesus. So when Jesus came, in Him dwelleth all the fullness of what God wanted us to know about Him. The Apostle Paul goes on to say here in Verse 10, And ye are completed in him, which is the head of all principality and power: (Watch) in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Now this has nothing to do with natural circumcision. Circumcision was a type of the cutting away of excess flesh. In other words, taking that fleshly desire out of your heart that would cause you to want to live after the world;

that s what it s saying there. So we see here that the phrase is used, in Him dwells all the fullness. It s amazing that Paul uses those same words when he is talking about the wife of the Lamb, saying that we become the fullness of Christ. And it takes the coming of Christ (the Mighty Angel) to move us to that point in serving the Lord. And now God has moved us to the place where we have accepted the full Word of God. Now we will read in John 3:31, and it is here that we find Jesus saying to the Pharisees and other religious leaders, He that cometh from above is above all: (Now I want you to know that He cometh from above for the wife, as seen in Revelation, Chapter 10, as this chapter shows Him coming down from heaven. Now this is not God, and it is not Jesus; it is Christ as the Mighty Angel who came down from above.) he that is of the earth is earthly, Jesus knew that the only way that He could deal with the religious Pharisees was through their earthly understanding of the letter of the Word. And when they asked about these things, Jesus said, If you can t receive earthly things how are you going to receive heavenly things? Even in this same chapter, we find a man coming to Jesus by night (He didn t want to be seen by anyone.) saying unto Jesus, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher sent from God; because no man can do the miracles that you are doing, except God be with him. And Jesus said unto him, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. You must be born again. Prior to this time, this profound statement had never been heard before. But it is now something that we hear all the time. It s thrown out there in the religious realm and taken so lightly. But being born again actually means that you have a new birth and are making a new start in life. You become a new creation. He purged you from your old sins, and you don t go on living life like you did before. Oftentimes we hear it said by someone that once made a start toward serving the Lord, Well, I was born again years ago. I m a Christian, yet nobody ever

knows it but them because their conversation still reflects the old man and not the new man Christ Jesus. But we have a heavenly language. Notice in Revelation, Chapter 19, in heaven they were saying, Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! That is the language that is known by nearly everyone. It s a heavenly language. We can read about David in the Old Testament who wrote the Book of Psalms. This book is mostly David praising the Lord Praise the Lord! Hallelujah to the Lord! Well, that is heavenly language. David had something heavenly in him, because that is where he was from Heaven. So that s the thing. People today want to say, I am the bride, or I am the wife, or I am born again, but you never hear that heavenly language from them. It has to be your life. When we become a new creature we get a new vocabulary. We begin to talk about heavenly things. And from time to time we shout, Praise the Lord! Hallelujah! The angels do that, also. And in heaven, we read in Chapter 5 of the Book of Revelation, the angels gather around the throne and the four beasts and all that were around the throne were constantly praising God and the Lamb. Well, heaven has come down. Glory to God! And we are heavenly creatures. Continuing with the last part of John 3:31. It says, he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. When Jesus talked to people they would say, I don t understand this man. It s the same today. And the only ones that understand are those that God gives the revelation of what s being said. Verse 32, And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. At first no one was receiving it. But He went right on doing the will of God and doing only what His Father showed Him. And from time to time, the Spirit of God would strike a man with revelation as they heard His wonderful words. And even now there are people here and there that really hear God through His

voice and are born of God. They praise God and talk about God; and this is their very life. Many people want the things of God but they only want Him to be a small side part of their life. Well, religion can be that way. But when Christ is living His life through us, it makes all the difference. The next verse says, He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. Once we hear this testimony and receive this Word, we have to say, God is true. Verse 34, For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: (This next part of this verse is applied only to Jesus Christ at that time.) for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. The Spirit of God was given to Him without limitation. And it is the same thing with the body of Christ as we reach His fullness. Now when I say us that means I m not talking about any one member of the body of Christ, as it was with Jesus Christ. But we are baptized into the fullness of Christ; making us the wife of the Lamb with all the gifts, all the wisdom, and all the things that were in Christ. That s the reason the wife brings forth her fruit. Everything that Christ is, it is seen right here in us, because we are the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ Jesus in the earth. Now I m not just speaking of being a Christian, and I m certainly not speaking of someone who has stopped growing after being born again. But here I m speaking of someone that lives this Word, eats it, talks it, and proclaims, This is my life! There is no other life for us. This is what we talk about. This is what we live. This is what we praise God for. And we have begun to talk a heavenly language. When speaking of a heavenly language, it is not just speaking in tongues. It can be. God can use tongues. In the Book of Ephesians, Chapter 5, it says to make melody unto the Lord with singing and praises and psalms. Psalms is not just a song that we sing. It s something on this order, The Lord is good to us His chosen wife. He has blessed us by putting

His life in us. He is leading us in a joyful pathway. And I just praise Him! We recognize that the Lord God, who is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, is also our Father. We find Jesus saying this same thing to Mary in John 20:17, which is a beautiful scripture, Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet asceneded to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. That is heavenly language. And it is also heavenly language to say, I just want to lift my hands and praise God and thank Him for each breath today! This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice in the Lord! These are some words of a heavenly language. And since we have the fullness of Christ Jesus, we have the mind of Christ. If we have His fullness, we have His gifts. And God doesn t give the wife the Spirit by measure, as He does individuals; but He gives the body as a whole His fullness. The Bible says, In Jesus Christ is the fullness of the Godhead. Now in us, we reach the fullness of Christ. The same word fullness that applied to Jesus Christ, applies to the wife, also, here at the end time. And Jesus said, These works that I do, and greater works shall you do, because I go to the Father. He said when He was here, I am with you now, but I shall be in you. And not only is He in us, but we are in Him. By one Spirit we are baptized into one body. And the baptism in water was a type of this wonderful spiritual baptism. Continuing on with John 3:35. It says, The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. Now Christ loveth His wife the same way. The Bible says we become bone of His bone, flesh of His flesh; and the Word says also, He that is joined to the Lord is one Spirit. We re bone of His bone, flesh of His flesh, spirit of His Spirit, mind of His mind, and we have the fruits of the Spirit. And we have the fullness. And when I say we, I am very careful here to stress that it is not one person, because the body of Christ is a many member body. And the

hand can t say to the foot, I have no need of you. And the ears can t say to the eyes, I have no need of you. Every part is very important. And it takes every part to make up the fullness of Christ. So the next verse, Verse 36 says, He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Jesus was letting them know that this is a matter of whether one has life or whether one doesn t have it. But I m talking about reaching the fullness of Christ in the earth as Paul prophesied in Ephesians 4:13. So here s how Paul laid it out everything about this mystery that God wanted us human beings to know in the way of redemption, it was found right there in Jesus. The fullness of it was put into Christ Jesus. So watch Paul s writing here. Paul tells about how God spoke in the Old Testament. Hebrews 1:1 says, God, who at sundry times (different times) and in divers manners (Old Testament types and shadows) spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, In Hebrews 1:3, Paul tells us about Jesus Christ being the image of the invisible God. Then Paul in another book talks about the body of Christ, saying in 2 Corinthians 3:18 that we are changed into the same image of our Lord Jesus Christ by His Spirit. God has revealed unto us by, and through, His Son the things about Himself that He wants us to know. And it s actually the same way with the Lord Jesus and Christ His wife. So as Jesus Christ is the image of God, likewise we are the image of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. Verse 2, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Amen, that was the Word. Now Jesus Christ didn t exist as a person before the world was, but that Word that became Jesus Christ did. And Hebrews, Chapter 11, says, We understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God. That same Word that became Jesus Christ was the same Word that we are part of. We have become that living breathing Word. We have

become the fullness of Christ. When we talk about being the fullness of Christ (being the Word) that means we re not even of this world at all. We are living here but we are not part of it and our language is not worldly language, but it is heavenly language. Verse 3, Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, Now hold that image the express image of his person. Now we are going to find out that the wife of the Lamb is the image of the Lord Jesus Christ as Paul said, Unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. We have reached the fullness of the stature of the man Christ Jesus. Now that is more than just Christianity. That is the wife. What I m saying is this: Just being a Christian and being the wife of the Lamb are two different things. Because we find many Christians that will go through the tribulation period in Revelation, Chapter 7. Many Christians say, The church is going through the tribulation. That s true; meaning all the living saints except the wife. We don t go through the tribulation. We are caught away and we miss the tribulation period. What you see out here as Christianity is sound asleep and will go right into the tribulation in that condition. But we go up before, and will not come back until after, the tribulation period. We come back with our Husband, King Jesus. We read that in the Book of Revelation, Chapter 19. That s where we see Jesus coming back to this earth, and we are with Him dressed in fine linen. How did we come back with Him if we didn t go up with Him? We were picked up before the tribulation period, a great time of trouble. This time of trouble and persecution will be unlike anything that has been before it. It is true that right now we re getting persecution on a limited basis, but in Christ Jesus we let it wash off like water pouring off a duck s back. Now there s certain words I want you to notice Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person. We know that God is not a person. God is not a man; He is a

spirit. But Jesus Christ was a person who expressed God in a way where we could better understand God s ways. And this same thing is happening now through the Spirit of Christ (the Mighty Angel) as we express the Lord Jesus Christ and are changed into His image. The rest of Verse 3 says, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; This shows Jesus Christ is sitting on the throne of God. That is seen in Revelation, Chapter 4; when the church ages are over we re caught up into the revelation of the Word. Here we see one sitting on the throne, the rainbow about the throne. And then in Revelation, Chapter 10, that same one which is seen in Revelation, Chapter 4, His Spirit comes back to this earth. It s the same Christ. But He comes in angelical form and we are baptized into His body and become one with Him; bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh. Thus making us the image of Jesus Christ even as Jesus Christ is the image of God. First, He was given the Spirit without measure. And so have we been given the Spirit of Christ without measure as the whole body of Christ. So in us (the wife) the Lord Jesus is seen in His fullness. And just as one couldn t see Jesus without seeing God, so is it with us, the wife. We cannot be seen without seeing the Lord Jesus, our Husband. When Jesus came the first time, He said in John 14:9, He that hath seen me hath seen the Father. The Father was seen in Him. He was expressing the Father, yet God remained a Spirit everywhere present at the same time. Everything that is in God relating to the human race was in Jesus Christ. He could walk on water. He could create by just speaking the Word. In John, Chapter 6, we see where Jesus fed five thousand hungry people. The disciples wanted to send them along, saying, Lord, you ve got to send the people away. They re hungry. They re fainting. Jesus said, You feed them. Can

you imagine that? And one of them stepped up and said, We couldn t feed them if we bought two hundred pennyworth of food. It still wouldn t be enough to feed them. And where would we buy it? Then here came Andrew, one of the disciples of Jesus, and said, There is a little lad here with five loaves and two fishes, but what are they among so many? Oh, watch this, I love the way the Lord does things. He just blows people away with the way He does things. Here came a little lad with his lunch that his mother had prepared for him, which was just enough for him, and said, I ve got some food. (Remember they had five thousand to provide for.) He wanted to give it to Jesus to help with the need. Many people say, I d like to give Jesus something, to help; but I m a poor man or woman and don t have much to give. Just give Him what you ve got and He will multiply it. The little lad walked up and said, I ve got some food! He probably didn t think twice about giving all he had; he just wanted to help. And he handed over to Jesus a humble little gift of five loaves and two fishes that was going to produce a feast for the hungry people. Evidently the fish weren t very big because they were in his lunch bag. But Jesus said, It is enough. First He blessed it. That s what it takes to be blessed. When something is blessed, that makes the difference. Jesus took those two fish and five loaves and began to break them and they fed five thousand people. And then they took up the remnant of it and it was twelve basketfuls. Some people will say, It s impossible. But there is nothing, absolutely nothing, impossible when it comes to the will of God. At a wedding one time they didn t have enough wine. (I m talking about Jesus being the expressed image. If God was standing there, which He was, in Jesus Christ, He couldn t do any more than He did with Jesus there. It s the same thing with the wife of the Lamb, which is the wife of the Lord Jesus Christ. And when He tells us what to do and we do it, it s no different than it would be if the man Jesus Christ was here doing the

work.) They said at this wedding, We don t have any more wine. We ve ran out of wine. That s what they told Jesus mother. Then she told Jesus, They don t have any more wine. They need some wine. She told the people, Whatever Jesus says to do, do it. (And whatever He says unto us, let s do it.) And He said unto the servant of the household, Fill up six pots of water. And the pots held several gallons each. I tell you, those folks were having a party! It was a wedding. By this time they had already drunk all the wine that was provided and still wanted more. What a problem they had. But not a problem for Jesus; for He instantly made them more. And it was even better than the first. Then Jesus said, Now draw and take to the one that tastes the wine. So the servant brought it to the governor, to let him taste it. And he said, My, my, my; everybody usually sets forth the best wine first and when they ve well drunken they set out the less expensive, but thou hast saved the best to the last. That was the best wine he had ever tasted in his life! And I suppose it had a little kick to it, too. It wasn t that watered down stuff. The governor probably said, Now that s top quality wine! So I am telling you that it was God standing right there in Christ doing what would be impossible for anyone else to do. Jesus said, Nothing shall be impossible to them that believe. And we could go on and on with examples like how the blind man saw and how the lame man walked. We can read all of this in the four gospels. Yes, Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God! Let s go to 2 Corinthians 3:17-18, while keeping the word image in mind. Jesus Christ is the image of God. Now who are we the image of? People today want to look like, dress like, and act like some famous singer or sports figure. That s their image. But there is only one image for the wife to be like, and that s our Husband, Jesus, who Himself is the image of God. And He is part of the Word which is God. And may I ask you, In whose image are you? We as the wife as a whole are the image of Jesus

Christ. And that is the image of the invisible Christ that is among us. Because we are baptized into His body and He has married us and given us His name. He has made us the very Christ, which is part of the Godhead, by being the wife of the Lamb. Now, I m in 2 Corinthians 3:17-18. Let s review what we ve covered so far. Jesus Christ reached the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Then we reach the fullness of Christ Jesus the same way. And as Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, so are we the image of Jesus Christ. Watch how all of this unfolds with the wife. Jesus Christ is the Word. Let me get this, Verse 17, Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (That s where our liberty lies in Him.) But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, (When we look in a mirror who do we see? We see ourselves. But he says here, It s the image of the Lord we see. ) are changed into the same image.. That s a perfect picture of Jesus Christ as the image of God. After reading this, we could ask, Paul are you thinking all right? When we preach like this, those that are less enlightened will say, You sound like you re out there in another world. Well, praise God, I am! Watch what he writes, are changed into the same image (How are you changed?) from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. Every day we grow in grace. We are changing. We re getting more like Jesus every day. And if we re not, then we re living after the flesh or after the things of the world. So we always want to let Christ Jesus live in us so that when someone sees us, they see Jesus. And God has made this same Jesus both Lord and Christ. That s what we are seeing today, the Lord in His Christ, the wife. We are changed into His image, and just like looking in a mirror we see Jesus in all His glory. In 2 Corinthians 11:2-3, Paul espoused a virgin to Christ to be married to Him. The virgin age (or stage) is over for us now that

the marriage has taken place. It s at this time that we become bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh. Ephesians 4:11-12 shows this virgin stage coming to an end and bringing us to the marriage stage. It says, And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; (This is the ending of the engagement here.) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying (of this stage) of the body of Christ: Now all of these gifts have now folded over into the body. That s when we were baptized into the body in marriage, which has taken us beyond the till of Ephesians 4:13. Here is where all the members of the body of Christ and the upto-date ministry were placed inside the body. God didn t give a different ministry to minister inside the body. It s the same ministry shown in Ephesians 4:11; and only the rulership is rendered obsolete inside the body, as all the members in the body have the same mind and the same judgment and we are no longer tossed to and fro. This is the ministry that God has given to, and for, the beloved wife of His only begotten Son. So after Verse 13, the rulership is gone and is replaced by leadership. That s the working of the ministry inside the body of Christ. So now we ve got leadership in Christ. But it had to be a ministry of rulership alongside of leadership until we reached the Till we all come in the unity of the faith (married), and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, (as we are now the Christ in the earth expressing our Husband, Jesus Christ, the crowned King. And you can t see us without seeing the Lord Jesus Christ because we are the very image.), unto the measure of the stature of the fullness (nothing left out) of Christ: Jesus Christ in His earthly journey was the fullness of God. He was in the image of God. And we bring it right to the place where the wife is showing Jesus Christ. In Jesus Christ it was in one person, because He was that seed of God. But that life went out to all. And now His wife is a many member body. (1 Corinthians

12:12-13). By one Spirit we re baptized into one body. And we have the mind of Christ. We ve got all His attributes. Since we have reached the fullness, he said then, Verse 14, That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Now I want to ask you this, Was Jesus tossed to and fro? No, He said, I do nothing until the Father shows me. He obeyed God all the way and He waited on God to move. God is the one that gives revelation; and sometimes we have to wait for it. See, it is so different being in a church age compared with being married to Jesus Christ. We are in His image. We are the full stature. We are the full-fledged wife of the Lamb! Verse 15, But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. Every member has a part in this. In Ephesians 5:30-32 (And there s never been anyone that becomes bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh in the virgin stage; it s in the marriage stage, the wife stage.) it says, For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. (a marriage) This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. A final statement before closing the message with prayer. We have reached His fullness and receive the Spirit without measure. That s why Jesus told us in John 14:12, These things that I do shall you do. That s why Paul prophesied, You are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3) And since we are dead we live for Him. I ll live for Jesus and let the world go by. I ll live for Jesus, He will supply. Do you love Him with all your heart? I trust that you have received something that you can put in the pocket of your heart

to take home with you. That s why we take these messages home with us, so that we can continue eating this Word. That s why God let us have books and tapes. We live in this Word day and night because we are part of it. God bless you today. Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we come to you now, and we just pray that you will take these words that we ve spoken today and that you will put your special blessing upon them as they go forth around and around the world and as they land right into the hearts of the people. I pray that you will quicken it and let each one know what is being said today. We ask it in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
