From the Desk of Bill Winston April 2017 Join the Twitter Conversation #BWMPartners @DrBillWinston Dear Partner, Developing An Abundance Mentality Do you know that God has given you an unlimited supply of everything you would ever need? As a child of God and kingdom citizen, you have an unending supply of love, joy, peace, health, mercy, wealth, food, clothing, houses, cars, and whatever is needed here on Earth as you fulfill His mission and your assignment. The kingdom of God can supply all sufficiency in all things without limits. This is why Jesus said in John 10:10 AMPC, I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). Jesus came to bring us back to the original power and provision Adam had at the beginning. He was taking us back to Eden, a place where everything mankind needed was already supplied. In fact, if it wasn t in the garden, Adam and Eve did not need it. Everything you and I need is in the Word of God, in the kingdom of God. And if it s not in there, we don t need it. Imagine, a warehouse full to the brim of everything we would ever need or want from wisdom to witty inventions all of our yet-to-be-acquired blessings in heaven s inventory waiting for us to call for them. That s called the Good News. Well, here s even better news, THESE THINGS ARE FREE, or shall I say, Paid in full. Jesus died and paid for them in full by His precious blood. Satan, the con artist, is out to make us pay for them a second time or at least lease them to us. Listen to what Paul said, He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? (Romans 8:32). In 1 Corinthians 2:12 he writes...that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. In chapter three, Paul writes, Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours (verse 21). It s through faith-filled words that we transfer spiritual things from heaven s warehouse. In the book of Ephesians, Paul writes,...christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ, (Ephesians 1:3). What is on Earth now is like a speck of dust compared to what God has laid up for us in the spiritual dimension referred to as the Eternal. So, you might say, if God has abundantly supplied all of our needs and these things are already paid for, why are so many in the Body of Christ still in lack and in debt? I believe the short answer is a lack of knowledge, or we can say what they choose to think. Thinking shortage or scarcity will create shortage or scarcity in your life. We all move in the direction of our most dominate thoughts. Proverbs 23:7 says it this way, For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he, or what you think is what you eventually become. Let s look over in Luke s Gospel where Jesus teaches about a rich man and a beggar. The beggar, whose name was Lazarus, who the Bible says was laid at his (the rich man s) gate, full of sores, and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man s table (Luke 16:20-21). Notice, his desire was for crumbs not for abundance, and crumbs are exactly what he got on a daily basis. Scarcity, which God never planned for us, is the opposite of abundance. It means smallness in portion to the wants or demand; deficiency; defect of plenty (American Dictionary of the English Language). The Babylonian system programs its people to have just enough, or in most cases, not enough. It conditions them to think running out instead of a never-ending supply and running over. It keeps poor people poor, thinking that the rich are their problem instead of what they have mentally chosen to create. The scriptures tell us, The rich man s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty (Proverbs 10:15). Why? Because that s all they think about day-in and day-out. You might recall in Luke s Gospel, when Simon Peter had fished all night and caught nothing, Jesus got into his boat and taught. I m sure Peter began to see something he had never seen before. He caught a revelation of a bountiful supply, and what we see is what God delivers. At the command of Jesus, Peter launched out into the deep and his catch was so great until it ran his boat over and it began to sink. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows) (John 10:10 AMPC). A Scarcity Mindset Jesus was constantly training the twelve disciples to think abundance and how to live in this economy according to heaven s economy. To THINK BIG, according to His riches in glory, and not according to the limitations of this natural world. If you are presently experiencing scarcity or just enough, study the Word of God regarding what the Bible says is your portion and act on it. Guaranteed, your circumstances will drastically change, and you will go from running out to running over. I decree, the drought in your life is over! In John 6, Jesus demonstrated this law of abundance when He showed the disciples how to supernaturally feed 5,000 men plus women and children with only five barley loaves and two fishes, with twelve baskets left over. In another place, Jesus tells the disciples, I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness? (Mark 8:2,4). Page 2
Jesus then shows them by starting with only a seed of seven loaves and a few small fishes and The Blessing...He was able to feed a multitude. So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets. And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away (verses 8-9). Typically, people with a scarcity mindset only look at what they have and never see the vast resources and opportunities the Lord has placed around them. Their focus is usually on the glass being half-empty versus half-full, which blocks the door to the revelation of God s invisible heavenly supply. Oh, you ve heard people say, There are no jobs or There are no more good single men available. That is the thinking of someone with a shortage mentality. You might have also heard people say that the poor can t afford to give. Well, the Scriptures prove that s not true. In Mark, chapter 12, that poor widow gave all she had and Jesus comments, this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury (verse 43). She was tapping into a supernatural supply. Look what happened with the widow in 2 Kings, chapter 4, when the creditors were about to take her sons as slaves, Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? Tell me, what have you [of sale value] in the house? She said, Your handmaid has nothing in the house except a jar of oil (verse 2 AMPC). She couldn t see the resources God had strategically placed all around her, both visible and invisible. I remember years ago when I was employed at IBM as a computer marketing representative. Each month I would ask my manager how much business he needed to meet his sales goal. He would tell me and I would go out to my geographic territory and supernaturally bring in a large portion of the new computer sales he needed, which later positioned me for my promotion to management. How could I do that? I had developed my faith to dominate the market and conditioned my mind to see only abundance regardless of the world s economic forecast. And like the woman who pressed her way with the issue of blood, I stepped out and took it. I share this to encourage you because this wasn t always my story. Until I was born again and had renewed my mind to what the Bible said I could have, I struggled to bring in any sales at IBM, much less an abundance. But as I learned about kingdom principles and developed strong faith, I could have it the way I wanted it and so can you! God s desire is to make us like Him and to have us live like Him. Who would want a rich father and his children out with a cup in the street at a stoplight begging for money? That would be a disgrace to the whole family. It s important that we see ourselves the way God sees us, and if we find that there is a difference...get busy and make some changes. Page 3
Fulfilling the Dominion Mandate Webster s Dictionary 1828 defines dominion as the power of governing and controlling; the right of possession and use without being accountable; and the power to direct, control, use and dispose of at pleasure. The mandate given to Adam which continues for the Church today is Let them have dominion...over all the earth... To fulfill that mandate we must think big. Small-minded people (a grasshopper image, see Numbers 13:33) couldn t go into Canaan. They are too intimidated by the big stuff...the people, the property, the problems or the bigness of the blessings. When you think big or abundance, you will not only draw giant opportunities, but you will continually push the boundaries of your own potential. Sometimes God will lead us to expand our boundaries by giving us an assignment beyond what we think we can do, or a project beyond what we think we can afford. For example, when God first told me to go on radio, I thought He just meant on Saturdays with a fifteen-minute broadcast. Then He said No, I want you to go on five days a week. I have to admit, at first I choked. I became fearful because I thought I didn t have enough teaching messages or enough money to produce a five-day radio program. But God knew what He had placed in me, and He was taking me beyond my self-imposed limits. He also was teaching me how to stay connected to the Vine, Him, for everything I would need or want. Needless to say, I have been on radio, and now television, for over 25 years and have never run out of messages or money. And, thanks to the help of my partners, we are broadcasting to almost one billion households each week. May His Name be praised! Veronica and I pray for you every day. As you sow your seed this month think abundance, as God wants to do BIG things in your life. Allow God to enlarge your boundaries. Think big. Think creatively. Think bold. Remember, God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20). We love you and until next time, keep walking by faith. your Partner and Friend, William S. Winston Page 4
