From the desk of Father... Page 2 May 6, 2018 MAY Flowers We come into the month of May, where the April showers bring May flowers? I can t really say, but May invites us to remember Mary the mother of God and our mothers. We crown Mary with a bouquet of flowers to honor her as Queen of the heavens. Mary intercedes to her Son Jesus through our prayers to her. We are called to honor and love our own mothers - they gave us birth and nurture us so we grow in wisdom and knowledge. We hunt for a box of candy, or a bottle of perfume or a bouquet of flowers to present to our mothers as we say Happy Mothers Day. We say, I love you Mom! Our Mother Day roses that we will sell here are to proclaim the sanctity of all life - Life of the unborn. We pray that laws that allow Abortion will be stopped. We pray for the children who need to be taken care of; not to go to bed hungery, not to die in the refuge camps or to be killed by poison gas. In the middle of all the rhetoric, marches, shouts and political miscommunication, who is buying flowers from the Flower lady. In May we celebrate the Ascension and are called to go forth to proclaim the word of God; Pentecost we remember we are on fire with the power of the Holy Spirit. We are called to be Bold in living our Catholic faith, to be witness to the truth of the gospel. This May let us gather flowers that speak to us of love and faith. You can put them in your hair; decorate our altars, profess our faith! Let the May flowers of your life bloom bright and colorful. Peace and Love,
Parish & Community Activities Page 3 May 6, 2018 Next Sunday, May 13th, is Mothers Day! The Knights of Columbus and the SFDS Women s Ministry, will offer for sale, Rose Bouquets for $5 each after the Vigil and morning Masses, outside the church doors next weekend for Mother s Day. Proceeds from this charitable Pro Life work will assist Riverside Life Services. This fund-raising and culture of life awareness campaign continues to be coordinated throughout our Diocese by May Huber, of Pro Life Catholic Ministries. The Knights of Columbus and the SFDS Women s Ministry will jointly help assemble these rose bouquets at Corpus Christi Church (south McKinley St. and Magnolia Ave), in Corona. This is our vicariate s rose bouquet assembly site next Saturday morning, May 12, from 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM. Any adult or teenager who wishes to assist our parish contingent and other volunteers may phone Rosemary Davis from the SFDS Women s Ministry at (951) 779-6958 this week for more details. Volunteers may give their name (s) to her so they will be identified with the SFDS Church volunteers and help hospitality with the planning of coffee, refreshments and snacks for the volunteers at the rose bouquet assembly site. This is a fun activity, with worthwhile, positive benefits and you should consider participating if you haven t done so before! Festival Boutique St. Francis de Sales is now accepting household donations for our Festival Boutique. Please drop off your items by the Consolata house in the courtyard on Sunday mornings, 10:00AM until 1:00 PM or between 5:00 PM 6:30 PM on Wednesdays. Fay Fletcher will be onsite to receive items. Please call her at (951) 682-9076 for any questions or for pick up. The deadline to donate is May 14th.
