Transcription:

Welcomes you to your Sabbath Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Mark 2:27, 28 And he said unto them, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath. שופטים Judges Shoftim Deuteronomy 16:18-21:9 / Isaiah 51:12-52:12 / Matthew 26:36-27:10 Pastor Mark Biltz 08/26/2017 Elul 04, 5777 First Service: 10:00 11:30 am Children s classes and Interpreters available only during First Service. Genesis 18:25b:...Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? Deuteronomy 32:36a For the LORD shall judge his people, Acts 10:40-42 God raised him up the third day, and gave him to be revealed, not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commanded us to proclaim to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead. 2Timothy 4:8 From now on there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but to all them also that love his appearing. 1Samuel 8:1 And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel. 1Samuel 8:3-5 And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment. Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel to Ramah, And said to him, Behold, you are old, and your sons walk not in your ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. (JPS) Deuteronomy 16:20 Justice, justice, shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live and inherit the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. (YLT) Deuteronomy 16:20 Righteousness--righteousness thou dost pursue, so that thou livest, and hast possessed the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee. Isaiah 51:1a "Listen to Me, you that follow after righteousness, You that seek the LORD: Isaiah 51:4,5a "Listen to Me, My people; And give ear to Me, O My nation: For a law shall proceed from Me, And I will make My judgment to rest for a light of the people. My righteousness is near, My salvation is gone forth, And My arms shall judge the people; Isaiah 51:7 "Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is My law: Don t fear the reproach of men, Neither be dismayed at their insults. Deuteronomy 16:21,22 Thou shalt not plant thee an Asherah of any kind of tree beside the altar of the LORD thy God, which thou shalt make thee. Neither shalt thou set thee up a pillar, which the LORD thy God hateth. Deuteronomy 17:14 When you have come to the land which the LORD your God gives you, and shall possess it, and shall dwell therein, and shall say, I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me; Deuteronomy 17:16,17 Only he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he may multiply horses; because the LORD has said to you, You shall not go back that way again. Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart not turn away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold. 2Chronicles 1:16,17 And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price. And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means. 2

2Chronicles 9:25 And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem. 1Kings 11:1-3 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites: Of the nations concerning which the LORD said to the children of Israel, You shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in to you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon joined to these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. 1Kings 10:14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents of gold, 1Kings 10:21a All king Solomon s drinking vessels were of gold, Deuteronomy 17:18,19 It shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book, out of that which is before the priests the Levites: and it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life; that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them; Matthew 5:17-19 Don t think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I didn t come to destroy, but to fulfill. For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the Torah, until all things are accomplished. Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. Deuteronomy 18:10a There shall not be found among you any one that makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, 1Kings 11:6-10 Solomon did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and didn t go fully after the LORD, as did David his father. Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon. So he did for all his foreign wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed to their gods. The LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he didn t keep that which the LORD commanded. 2Kings 23:13-15 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of 3

corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the detestation of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the detestation of Moab, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile. And he broke in pieces the pillars, and cut down the Asherim, and filled their places with the bones of men. Moreover the altar that was at Beth-el, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, even that altar and the high place he broke down; and he burned the high place and stamped it small to powder, and burned the Asherah. Deuteronomy 18:20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. Deuteronomy 19:14 You shall not remove your neighbor's landmark, which they of old time have set in your inheritance, which you shall inherit in the land that the LORD your God gives you to possess it. Deuteronomy 20:1-4 When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses, and chariots, and a people more than you, be not afraid of them: for the LORD your God is with you, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt. And it shall be, when you are come near to the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people, And shall say to them, Hear, O Israel, you approach this day to battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be you terrified because of them; For the LORD your God is he that goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you. Deuteronomy 20:19 When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by wielding an axe against them; for thou mayest eat of them, but thou shalt not cut them down; for is the tree of the field man, that it should be besieged of thee? Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Isaiah 55:12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Isaiah 51:12 "I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you are afraid of a man who shall die, And of the son of a man who shall be made as grass? And have forgotten the LORD your Maker, Who stretched forth the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth; 4

Isaiah 51:22,23 Thus says your Lord GOD, and your God who pleads the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of your hand the cup of staggering, even the bowl of the cup of my wrath; you shall no more drink it again: and I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, who have said to your soul, Bow down, that we may walk over you; and you have laid your back as the ground, and as the street, to those who walk over. Isaiah 52:6,7 Therefore My people shall know My name; Therefore they shall know in that day That I am He who speaks: 'Behold, it is I.'" How beautiful on the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who publishes peace, Who brings good news of good, Who publishes salvation, Who says to Zion, "Your God reigns!" Deuteronomy 30:6 The LORD your God will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your seed, to love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live. Exodus 39:12 and the third row, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst; Isaiah 54:10 For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; Isaiah 51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment; Isaiah 24:23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed; Isaiah 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falls off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. Ezekiel 18:23-25 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? said the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All his righteousness that he has done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them shall he die. Yet you say, The way of the LORD is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal? Matthew 20:8-12 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard said to his steward, Call the laborers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last to the first. And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, 5

they received every man a penny. But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. And when they had received it, they murmured against the manager of the house, Saying, These last have worked but one hour, and you have made them equal to us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. Jeremiah 31:20,21 Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a darling child? for as often as I speak against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says the LORD. Set up road signs, make guideposts; set your heart toward the highway, even the way by which you went: turn again, virgin of Israel, turn again to these your cities. Nehemiah 1:3-5 They said to me, The remnant who are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and its gates are burned with fire. It happened, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days; and I fasted and prayed before the God of heaven, and said, I beg you, LORD, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with those who love him and keep his commandments: Nehemiah 6:15,16 So the wall was finished in the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days. It happened, when all our enemies heard of it, that all the nations that were about us were afraid, and were much cast down in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was worked of our God. Gad and Elul are also tied to the constellation virgo! Song of Songs 6:3 I am my beloved s, and my beloved is mine. Ezekiel 8:1-3 It happened in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there on me. Then I saw, and behold, a likeness as the appearance of fire; from the appearance of his waist and downward, fire; and from his waist and upward, as the appearance of brightness, as it were glowing metal. He put forth the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and the sky, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the gate of the inner court that looks toward the north; where there was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy.
