October 1, 2017 Dear St. Florian parishioners: As summer time is coming to an end we will be returning to our regular parish activities. There is never a vacation break in God's house. Jesus is giving an example of what is most important in His Father's House. "Zeal for your house will consume me." (John 2: 17) This message is many dimensional. One of its messages is the support and care of His Church. Being grateful for the slower pace ofsummer, we are looking for it to get busier. Christ's presence that we experience at St. Florian enriches us all and responds to our need. Different people have different gifts. St. Florian Church has been sharing these gifts with us for about 112 years. The past generations connect with us, the people of the present. Our Church life is a treasure that we have to continue into future generations. To do so, St. Florian Church is always asking the parishioners and all the people ofgood will to share with us their TIME, TALENT and TREASURE. These three (3) gifts have been exercised by Christians since Jesus established the Church about 2,000 years ago. Because of these 3 basic gifts, people have been served, educated and evangelized. These 3 gifts can come in different forms because the Church of the past had different needs than the Church of today. These gifts have to be ignited in people's hearts and passed on to the next generation. Those gifts have been exercised in response to our parish needs. Because of your generosity in these 3 areas we are able to exist and provide the necessary sacramental life, education and evangelization to whoever needs it. St. Florian Church is very blessed to have members like yourselves who understand our mission. One of the programs that the Church has been doing is TO TEACH WHO CHRIST IS. Several of you have been actively making sacrifices every month to support the program. TO TEACH WHO CHRIST IS has become a helpful tool in many parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago. For St. Florian, it has been a new gift that is actively moving forward. I am grateful to all of you who have been participating in the program. So far TO TEACH WHO CHRIST IS has been successful but we still have less than 4 years of collections to come. Hopefully we will be able to collect the rest of the funds in the future. Our treasure is our Church and we need a new boiler for the Church. TO TEACH WHO CHRIST IS, is only one of the programs that is moving the parish forward. Everything that you do financially for St. Florian makes our future possible. The treasure that you share is one ofthe 3 gifts and that seems to be the hardest one for all ofus to maintain. Every parish like St. Florian Church has regular expenses and also unexpected ones like you experience in your own homes. We try to minimize our regular expenses but we still have bills to pay each month. So please continue to exercise your gifts of TIME, TALENT and TREASURE that you are giving to St. Florian. May the Lord repay you a hundredfold for all of your gifts. Cardinal Cupich encourages us to continue your support ofto TEACH WHO CHRIST IS. There are many Chicago parishes that have already found success in the program. Yours In Christ, Fr. Robert Marchwiany, Pastor Page 5 From the Pastor's Desk Dear "To Teach Who Christ Is" donor, In addition to the other information regarding this collection, please remember that the program was meant to take 5 years to help you spread your donation over time. Some ofyou have already given the entire sum of money that you pledged. The 60% from the program goes directly into our parish account. Anything above that we get 100%. At the end ofthe 5 year period we hope to use the money to purchase a new boiler for our Church. This is way overdue! If you have any questions about your pledge, please call (312) 534-8500. Thank you for your generosity and please continue fulfilling your pledge. St. Florian is counting on you! Yours in Christ, Fr. Robert Marchwiany, Pastor A big thank you to all who took part in the "To Teach Who Christ Is" Campaign. We appreciate your generosity. The Archdiocese credits us every month with 60% of your CURRENT payments. Some people are delinquent in their payments which slows down our goal. We really can't move forward until we receive most ofthe funds for the boiler. Ifyou have any questions about your payments, please call the Archdiocese at 312-534-8500. Yours in Christ, Fr. Robert Marchwiany, Pastor
