Overview I have been asked by the Houston Academy Association to lead a D Day trip for the 75 th Anniversary of D Day in 2019. This is still in the planning stages. In England, we will visit the Churchill War Rooms & the Imperial War Museum, and have dinner at the Victory Club. In Normandy, it would cover these sights that follow plus a visit to Caen Memorial Museum and the castle. We would be based in Bayeux, so we would also get to see the Bayeux Tapestry and I will see if I can add a visit to Mt. St. Michel. The reason we are starting now is to secure good accommodations. The Celebration is 2 ½ years off so we can not guarantee we will be able to visit all sights we saw on the 2014 trip.
London We will spend 2 days in London sightseeing. Sights we will visit will include the Churchill War Rooms & the Imperial War Museum. We also have dinner at the Victory Club, used by GEN Eisenhower, where he began the planning process for the invasion. We plan to use the Chunnel to get to France.

Longues-sur-Mer Gun Battery This is the site of a 4 casemate (3 have artillery pieces inside) German Gun Battery. They are located about 300 yards from the coast & are arranged in a semi-circle to maximize their firing range east to west. They are the only original coastal artillery that remain in Normandy today. The last slide of this group is the forward observation post nearer the beach.
