Jamie Wince, Senior Warden, explained during the announcement time that the idea of the gift was formed after she had seen a saying on Facebook- God is not calling us to GO to church, He is calling us to BE his church, The Hope of the world. This is the focus of the 2016 vestry. The following are from the list: Express your gratitude for God s creation by tending the earth in environmentally responsible ways. If you have a yard, plan how to strengthen its sustainability. Or consider what you might plant in pots. Or investigate public gardens where you might grow food in one of the plots. Identify people in congregation or community who need a break for example, a single mother whose job and childcare responsibilities give her little free time, or someone whose days consist of caring for a parent who needs household help. Offer to babysit the children or spent time with the parent, to free up the caregiver. Lead your congregation in creating a journal of grace. Invite members to submit personal stories of how they ve experienced and responded to God s grace in their lives. Have a designated person compile the stories, and make the collection available to the congregation. As a congregation family, explore the theme of grace and gratitude with the children. If your birthday is not listed, please contact the church office!
