PARISH ADMINISTRATOR St. Anthony & St. Mary Parishes Rev. Msgr. Ross A. Shecterle (Ext. 11) We are officially a Teaching Parish for a seminarian! What is the Teaching Parish Program? Here are a few excerpts taken from the Teaching Parish Manual The primary goal of the Teaching Parish model for Pastoral Formation is to integrate the totality of parish and seminary experiences from the first year of formation up to ordination to the priesthood. The total ministerial experience, from the seemingly mundane to the unpredictable and highly challenging, to the fully planned, scheduled and timely implemented events within a parish serve to enhance the discernment process and the preparation for priestly ministry. This model also highlights the reality that formation is on-going and ever present; and, not confined merely to the academic realm. Seminarians are exposed to and involved in the following four major areas of parish life: Prayer and Worship (Masses, Devotions, etc.), Life-Long Learning or Faith Formation (Catechesis- child or youth ministry/sacramental at the day-school or Religious Education, Christian Formation including adult, RCIA and/or RCIC and Evangelization); Out-reach/Human Concerns (both inside and outside the parish); and, Administration (finances, budgeting, paperwork and record keeping, etc.). Seminarians are held accountable through an evaluative process that includes: Self, Peer and Formator Assessments as well as feedback from the Teaching Parish including the Pastor, pastoral staff, Teaching Parish Committee Members and others. The parish community, through its pastoral leadership, provides on-going evaluative feedback to the seminarian and the seminary. Everything, properly understood, is meant to enhance a two-fold sense of confidence and competence, as he prepares for priestly ministry. The seminarian formally reflects on his parish experiences with others; and, through self-assessments, learns more about himself, pastoral ministry, and what is required of those who are called to serve the People of God through priestly ministry. This is a great and exciting opportunity for St. Mary and St. Anthony the Hermit parishes. Please welcome and pray for our seminarian, Kevin Harmon. We will formally introduce him to the parishes early in September. ASSOCIATE PASTOR St. Anthony & St. Mary Parishes Fr. ANTHONY CEMETERY Larry Claas (262) 253-0244 CATHOLIC MONTESSORI SCHOOL (262) 251-4390 PRINCIPAL - Linda Joyner (Ext. 31) My name is Kevin Harmon. I am a First- Year Theology student for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, currently attending Saint Francis de Sales Seminary. I am originally from a small city on the central coast of California called Lompoc. I lived in California until midway through college, when I decided to come to Wisconsin to finish my degree. While attending Marian University in Fond du Lac, I obtained a Bachelor s degree in Accounting and also discovered winter. After graduating, I worked as a tax accountant for Michels Corporation in Brownsville for about a year. After deciding to retire from accounting, I entered seminary and for the last two years I have attended Saint Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee. I am excited to have the opportunity to serve Saint Mary s and Saint Anthony s parish communities and I look forward to getting to meet all of you. This Wednesday, August 15th is the Feast of the Assumption - a HOLY DAY of obligation. Masses are offered on Tuesday at 6pm and Wednesday at 8am.

We need your help! Do you know about our meal program? Do you know that volunteers prepare a hot, nutritious and tasty meal, and serve hundreds once a month at the St. Vincent de Paul site on Milwaukee s south side? Do you know that this program has existed for over 35 years and is made up of good people who know that every food item they make or guest they serve means one less person goes to bed hungry? Would you like to get involved? Call me. Carole McGibany St. Anthony Meal Program Coordinator (262) 366-5624, cmcgibany@wi.rr.com Whoever comes to me will never go hungry and whoever believes in me will never thirst. What Is Theology of the Body? Theology of the Body (TOB) is a bold, compelling, Christian response to the sexual revolution that is transforming lives and renewing relationships around the globe and across denominational lines. Written by the late St. Pope John Paul II, the TOB offers an in-depth biblical exploration of the meaning of our creation as male and female in the divine image that not only paves the way for lasting renewal of marriage and family life, but, as one of the most captivating articulations of Christian anthropology ever developed, enables everyone to rediscover the meaning of the whole of existence, the meaning of life (TOB 46:6). St. Anthony Picnic at the Parish Sunday, September 9, 2018 After 10:30 Mass Please join us for a Eucharistic Procession around the parish grounds to be followed by a picnic in the upper parking lot. Chicken and corn-on-the-cob will be supplied by the parish. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass.
