Dear People of St. Patrick Parish, A Message from our Pastor We Christians continue to celebrate the joy of Easter during these next 50 days leading to Pentecost. The hope and promise of the Risen Lord continues to enrich our daily lives. Today, we reflect on the divine love and mercy of our loving God brought to us from the heart of Jesus who loved us enough to give His life for our sins and to redeem us. Jesus taught us to continue to follow the words of God the Father, Love God and love your neighbor and keep the commandments, they are indeed freeing and not a burden. The Gospel today, reminds us of the words of Jesus to His Apostles and therefore their successors, Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you. And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit, whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained. This is the Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation or Confession. I am grateful to St. Thomas, the Apostle who challenged the Resurrection with his doubts, because when he came to see the true Risen Christ, he believed and worked to make others also believe. He gives proof to our faith in the Risen Lord. Loving God, we are grateful for your love and mercy that forgives our sins and allows Jesus to feed us with his body and blood in Holy Communion. Yes, most of the Easter eggs and candy are eaten and some of the Easter flowers have died, but the love of God for us is very much alive and giving us renewed life and hope. God Bless, Larry Young Pastor

SO THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE It is not oſten that the author of one of the books of the Bible comes right out and tells us directly why he is writing what he is writing. In this Sunday s Gospel reading, taken om the conclusion of John s Gospel, the author tells us that he has chosen to record these events so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name (20:31). The le er of John echoes this idea by saying that ever one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is bego en by God (5:1) what we might refer to as being bor again. Our reading om the Acts of the Apostles for this Second Sunday of Easter shows us exactly what it looks like when believers are bor again through faith. Copy ight J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
