Alleluia! 7 But then there breaks a yet more glorious day: the saints triumphant rise in bright array; the King of glory passes on his way. Alleluia! Alleluia! 8 From earth s wide bounds, from ocean s farthest coast, through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, singing to Father, Son, and Holy Ghost: Alleluia! Alleluia! Word Reading: Revelation 7:9-17 9 After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. 10 They cried out in a loud voice, saying, Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb! 11 And all the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 singing, Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen. 13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, Who are these, robed in white, and where have they come from? 14 I said to him, Sir, you are the one that knows. Then he said to me, These are they who have come out of the great ordeal; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 For this reason they are before the throne of God, and worship him day and night within his temple, and the one who is seated on the throne will shelter them. 16 They will hunger no more, and thirst no more; the sun will not strike them, nor any scorching heat; 17 for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of the water of life, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. 6

C Glory to you, O Lord. 1 When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. 2 Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying: 7
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Please stand as you are able) Shall We Gather at the River 1 Shall we gather at the river, where bright angel feet have trod, with its crystal tide forever flowing by the throne of God? Refrain Yes, we ll gather at the river, the beautiful, the beautiful river; gather with the saints at the river that flows by the throne of God. 2 On the margin of the river, washing up its silver spray, we will walk and worship ever, all the happy golden day. Refrain 3 Ere we reach the shining river, lay we ev ry burden down; grace our spirits will deliver, and provide a robe and crown. Refrain 4 Soon we ll reach the shining river, soon our pilgrimage will cease; soon our happy hearts will quiver with the melody of peace. Refrain 9
Apostles Creed P We confess our faith. C I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen Offering Music Come, Ye Disconsolate arr. Emma Lou Diemer 10
(Please remain seated) Offering Response Confession and Forgiveness P When God sets the table of the Lamb, all will be welcome the young and the old; those who were faithful, and those who failed; those who followed Jesus, and those who lost their way. Let us confess to our God our unsaintly ways, knowing how quick God is to forgive. 11
C P C In the quietness, we make our personal prayers to you: our confessions of wrongdoing, our need for healing and our offloading of anything that troubles or burdens us. Through the silence Lord, hear our prayers. When we seek God, we are found; when we cry out, we are heard; when we confess, we are forgiven and made new. Thanks be to God. Prayers of the People The assisting minister will end each prayer petition with: P Lord, in your mercy, The congregation will respond with: C hear our prayer. The prayers will end with: P Receive these prayers and the hopes and concerns of our hearts, as we entrust into your loving care all for whom we pray. C Amen 12
Meal The Words of Institution P In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples saying: Take and eat; this is my body, broken for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me. The Lord s Prayer P Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us: C Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, 13
as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen Communion Our table is open to all who wish to share in the sacrament. Non-communing children and adults are invited to receive a blessing.
