Influence of The Kingdom of Heaven On The World Matt. 5:13-16 3. Righteousness of The Kingdom of Heaven Matt. 5:17-7:12 A. Jesus, The Law, The Scribes and Pharisees and Kingdom Righteousness Matt. 5:17-48 B. Pleasing God Motive For All Righteousness Matt. 6 C. Treating Each Other Right Matt. 7:1-12 4. Entering The Kingdom of Heaven Matt. 7:13-29 2 Pleasing God Motive For All Righteousness 1. Benevolence prayer and fasting that please God Matt. 6:1-18 2. Our first priority must be serving God Matt. 6:19-34 Our First Priority Must Be Serving God As in Jesus day, many who claim to serve God are deceived and distracted by misplaced priorities based on loving and pursuing material things ahead of serving God Pursuing material wealth is deceptive because we idolize temporary riches and lose our eternal heavenly treasure 3 4 Our First Priority Must Be Serving God Instead we should pursue first His kingdom (rule) and righteousness so we may receive eternal heavenly blessings In order to do this, serving God, doing His will, must be our first priority in life To pursue wealth at the expense of serving God results in sinful rebellion and needless worry Most spiritual troubles come because serving God is not our first priority 5 Mat 6:19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. Mat 6:20 "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; Mat 6:21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 6

Luk 12:19 'And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry."' Luk 12:20 "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?' Luk 12:21 "So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God." 7 Php 3:7 But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Php 3:8 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, 8 Php 3:9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, 1Ti 6:6 But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. 1Ti 6:7 For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either. 1Ti 6:8 If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. 9 10 1Ti 6:9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. 1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1Ti 6:11 But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness. 11 12

Must Be Single-minded and Mat 6:22 "The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. Mat 6:23 "But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! Must Be Single-minded and Mat 6:24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. 13 14 The Double-minded Man Cannot Serve God Jas 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Jas 1:6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. The Double-minded Man Cannot Serve God Jas 1:7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, Jas 1:8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. 15 16 Must Be Single-minded and Rom 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and Must Be Single-minded and 1Jn 3:6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. 1Jn 3:7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; acceptable and perfect. 17 18

Must Be Single-minded and 1Jn 3:8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 1Jn 3:9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. Mat 6:25 "For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 19 20 Mat 6:26 "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? Mat 6:27 "And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? Mat 6:28 "And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, Mat 6:29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 21 22 Mat 6:30 "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Mat 6:31 "Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?' 23 Mat 6:32 "For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. Mat 6:33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Mat 6:34 "So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. 24

Php 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Php 4:5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Php 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Php 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 25 26 Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Php 4:9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be Php 4:10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity. Php 4:11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. with you. 27 28 Php 4:12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. Php 4:13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Do We Need To Make Adjustments In Our Priorities? Luk 10:38 Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. Luk 10:39 She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord's feet, listening to His word. 29 30

Do We Need To Make Adjustments In Our Priorities? Luk 10:40 But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me." Luk 10:41 But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; Do We Need To Make Adjustments In Our Priorities? Luk 10:42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her." 31 32 Pleasing God Motive For All Righteousness 1. Benevolence prayer and fasting that please God Matt. 6:1-18 2. Our first priority must be serving God Matt. 6:19-34 33
