Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults in the Catholic Church (RCIA) Period of Purification & Enlightenment During the Season of Lent the elect are invited to enter into a time of prayer for their own spiritual growth. Their instruction in the Catholic Faith shifts to an emphasis on conversion. Those who are already baptized will receive the Sacrament of Confession. The Catechumen (those not baptized) enter into their final preparation to receive the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation. For the next 3 weeks, the Church celebrates the scrutinies with the elect. These scrutinies include exorcism prayers for deliverance from sin, evil and evil influences in order to strengthen the faithful to the Word of God. During the exorcisms, the elect kneel in humility as the community prays for them. Let us pray for our candidates (Annette Hobson, Matthew and Jenice Eccher) that they may experience a deeper repentance and a total abandonment to the mercy of the Father who sent His only Son to die for our sins.

Health care providers and trainees, churches, and others are being forced to participate in abortion or provide coverage for it in their health care plans. Federal conscience laws prohibit such coercion, but these laws continue to be violated ~ mostly because they don t provide victims with the ability to defend their rights in court. Within a couple of weeks, Congress will likely decide whether to improve enforcement of these laws by enacting the Conscience Protection Act. NO ONE SHOULD BE FORCED TO PARTICIPATE IN ABORTION. TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TODAY at: humanlifeaction.org Hope you re planning to join our discussion series with Marty Dybicz in the Parish Family Center (PFC) on Trent Horn s book, Why We re Catholic. Topics to be covered include Why We Go to Mass and Why We Baptize Babies. Remember: You don t have to have read the book to be able to participate. ALL ARE WELCOME. We are sure you will find Marty presentation and discussion style to be both faith affirming and thought provokiing. SEE YOU THERE!!
