Training for Eternity VENICE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL March 2, 2017 The Lion s Roar Dates to Remember The Benefits of Christian Education Christian education serves to challenge students to find their delight in the Lord. There are many scriptures that speak to the blessings we receive when we delight in the Lord. Psalm 1:3 has been a favorite verse of mine for some time - And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season; Its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity]. Mar. 3rd Jeans Day $2 fundraiser Mon. Fri. March 13th-17th Spring Break! No School A similar passage of scripture is found in Jeremiah 17:7,8. 7 Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the LORD. And whose hope and confident expectation is the LORD. 8 For he will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters, That spreads out its roots by the river; And will not fear the heat when it comes; But its leaves will be green and moist. And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought Nor stop bearing fruit. (AMP) Both of these verses speak of the blessings that come from delighting in God. The Lord uses the same Hebrew word for "planted" in both portions of scripture. It connotes imagery of tree roots spreading deep and wide seeking the nourishment of a nearby stream of water. As a result, the tree is able to thrive and bear fruit under adverse conditions. Paul states it eloquently in 1 Thessalonians 2:19, 20, 19 "For what is our hope or happiness or our victor's wreath of exultant triumph when we stand in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His coming? Is it not you? 20 For you are [indeed] our glory and our joy! (AMP) We would echo this same sentiment for our students as we seek to point them to Christ to drink of the living water only He can provide. Jerry Frimmel Principal

Educating for Eternity Banquet On Saturday, Feb. 25th, VCS hosted a fundraiser banquet called Educating for Eternity. This invitation-only event was held at the Ramada Venice Hotel Venezia, with the goal of raising money for scholarships. Our teachers and student ambassadors did a fantastic job of representing their classes. Guests had the opportunity to talk with staff and students about our school, and heard a word from speaker Ryan Dobson, son of James Dobson, and bestselling author, speaker and radio talk show host. We would like to thank the banquet committee for all their hard work in bringing this event together! The committee members are parents of students at VCS who have used their time and talents in order to see this event come to fruition.
