Fashion is the key word for today s population. In fact, it is reflected even in the school children by the bags they carry, the watches they wear and the way, they carry themselves. There are many teens that invent their own styles and can become trendsetters themselves. I can see a vast difference between the present and older generation. One of the main reasons for the spread of fashion among teenagers is the television. Fashion in the colloquial language can be called contagious. Teenagers of today indulge so much in fashion that they don t get sufficient time for other tasks. Reading fashion books and magazines is more preferred by them over their course books. The prime zones of outings have now become the malls. Most of the teens want to be in glamour world so as to be popular and take away the lime light. It s good to keep yourself updated with latest fashion but not at the cost of studies and school. Payal Jain X-A Child labour, child labour, That is not a good favour. Many children have smiling faces, And have fun many a time, But there are some children, Who do not have enough to dine. Small children can do wonders, And can bring thunders; If they go to school, They will be our nation s developmental tools. But they work the whole day, To earn their daily pay. Some of them do cleaning and; Others do weaving. If they get a chance, They can make our nation advance. Why can t these children smile and enjoy ifwe can? Only because they are the children of some poor man. Why do they have to bear their master s rod? Is it because they are children of a lesser God. Please stop this child labour, So that there are no more mournful sights, But only innocent faces, With happy smiles and sparkling eyes. Sakshi X-G

AN ANGEL An angel from heaven, Who flew into my life. She is an ideal daughter, And a wonderful wife. The best guide for life, And soaked with love and respect. A caretaker for the nature, She s perfect in every aspect. A woman with elegance, And smartness and poise. She is a woman with a proclivity, And sure she hates a noise. A preference for the handicrafts, She loves to read books. She never needs to touch up, Because she has such amazing looks. And when it comes to night time, She has the best stories to tell She is a doctor, An artist too good. She always tells me what I can do, Everything I should. She is the best mom, She is my mother. But I am more proud than lucky that, I am her daughter. Pallavi X-F A mission to change the world, Is why she came on earth? She needed a follower, And so she gave me birth. A wonderful cook! Must say, She is a gardener as well.

Do you know how matter matters? It s everywhere in snakes and ladders. In water, in fruits and in cars, Even on the planet Mars. It doesn t matter what s the shape, It has properties, space and weight. Solids fit in your grip, While liquids are sure to slip. And note how gases float around, But they never make a little sound. Why are they there? Who made these rules? To know, please ask the molecules. Without it, life would cease to be, There would be no you, no me. And that would be a cause of fear, So let s be glad that matter s here. goal, I knew it was difficult to reach perfection. But there was a desire in my soul, goal. I had to scale the heights of mountains, And dive into the ocean of hard work. And the ray of hope was still present in my soul, goal. Laziness came as the stepmother of Snow White, But at that time somebody showed me light. The holy light which God had sent me was born in my soul, goal. At last I conquered the fort of my dreams, The result of my hard work was framed. Light of knowledge entered my soul, goal. Amisha Periwal XI-D Sanchi Garg XI E

My school gave me confidence And taught me the way of defence It showed me the way to success And inculcated in me qualities That I possess It told me the secrets of happiness And took me out of tenderness My school gave me chance to be an orator And sent me on the stage as a narrator Opportunities to prove myself My school gave me It has given me a class full of life Where there is only friendship Sacrifice for each other and no fights It gave me many lovely friends Whose sharing and caring never end It gave me such seniors Who are always ready to help juniors It gave me such teachers Who always strive for my bright future My school gave me my achievements And that is why I share with it My deep sentiments MY SCHOOL is the best. Lekhni Goel It s a beautiful day full of clouds and rain I can hear the birds chirruping and children playing in the lave. But the silence surrounds me In this classtrophobic room I feel very low and My mood is gloomy Waiting for that noise to come back to me That music to touch me and make me free That ringing of the bell Those giggles in the ground That rush in the canteen Those games being played around That pulling of the chairs That grabbing of the bags Those dance room periods Those shoes in the racks It s only about a month but seems like a year Since I went to school and kept my thoughts clear It really is a beautiful day But it is not complete Without my friends and my school My days are incomplete. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said: I have a dream! lived with great optimism. Whereas Hitler went on to take millions of lives and covered the earth with blood and grief, Chaplin gave hope to people throughout the world. The final chapter of Chaplin s life was victorious, adorned with the applause and cheers of the people. Life is defined by how it concludes, not by how it begins. There are no irredeemable What dreams do you have in your mind? What hopes do you have? A life filled with hope is strong. Hope is the greatest weapon in the world. Youth is the time of great changes and therefore, equally a time of great confusion. Society, too, offers little comfort and you may feel as though you are standing alone in a wasteland or on a battlefield. At times, you may feel you can t believe in anyone, that no one loves you or that you have no reason to live. But do not judge yourselves in such a way. You must never give up on yourselves. There is no one who does not have a mission in this world. You would not have been born if you did not have a mission to fulfill. It doesn t rain or snow all year round. And remember: The sun always shine on the other side of the clouds. Charlie Chaplin, one of the world s greatest comedians, was born four days before Adolf Hitler. As a youth, Chaplin was very poor and he could not afford to go to school. In addition, his mother suffered from mental illness. Despite all these trials, he mistakes in youth. Those who remember that they have a unique mission to fulfill are strong. Whatever problems they may have, they will never be defeated. They can transform all their problems into catalysts for growth towards a hope-filled future. Nishtha

begins by being aware of how we spend every hour of the day as Lee Iacocca has pointed out. Where do great actions begin from? If you ask many of the world s thinkers and great men, they seem to begin with dreams. It is when we are inspired by dreams and also by the vision of a bright and beautiful achievement in the future that we begin to exert ourselves to make things happen in the present. Eleanor Roosevelt once said Future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. When one has a dream, the first step to make it come true is to form an action plan. A good action plan can t be the one without goals. The ability to concentrate and use your time well is everything if you want to succeed. So, don t be afraid to dream. Formulate an action plan that takes goals into account and make good use of every moment of your life. You will then well be on the path to success. Often, people find it difficult to keep a diary or a journal with records of immediate targets to be achieved, or more distant milestones one has set for oneself. As has been remarked by Henry Ward Beecher, The ability to convert ideas to things is the secret to outward success. But giving concrete shape to dreams can t be achieved without the best possible use of the time as successful time management Smile Bhutani

Time is a race Challenge it with a smiling face If you have confidence You will win it with grace. Boost your energy If anything you do. Do something with full enthusiasm Due to which people may look up to you. Work on it and make it your strong base And your eyes will be full of tears Of happiness and success. Life is a sport Play it with your heart and soul. In every small thing, use your mind And then whatever you want, Easy you will find. Talking to yourself is the best activity, Sharing views with your own mind is intellectual creativity. Technique is so relaxing and makes you energetic, Talking to yourself makes you too positive, It s beyond the simple talking in short. Talking to yourself means appreciating, Instead of expecting from others to help you; Help yourself and make your life enjoyable, Better live life in a way which is remarkable. These words will enlighten your lives, And will give you the best times. It will reduce your worry a bit; And help to add more delight, To your lovely and beautiful life. Sakshi Anand Time is a race, Challenge it with a smiling face. Kamal Verma XI-D

as being the way one reacts to a sport, game or player. Sachin Tendulkar is recognized as India s one of the greatest cricketing legend. He is not just recognized for his abilities on the field but also for good sportsmanship. So the question arises What is good sportsmanship? Good sportsmanship is when teammates; opponents, coaches and officials treat each other with respect. Kids learn the basics of sportsmanship from adults in their lives, especially, parents and coaches. Kids gradually come to understand it by observing adults that the real winners are those who know how to behave with dignity-whether they win or lose a game. Sportsmanship also refers to virtues such as self-control, courage and persistence and has been associated with the concept of treating others and being treated fairly, maintaining self-control in dealing with the issues, and respect for both authorities and opponents. Sportsmanship is also looked at A sportsman who exhibits poor sportsmanship after losing a game or contest is a complete loser. His behaviour includes blaming others for the loss, not accepting responsibility for personal actions that contributed to the defeat, reacting to the loss in an immature way, making excuses for the defeat and citing unfavorable conditions or other petty issues as reasons for defeat. A lead winner acts in a shallow fashion after victory such as reminding the poor performance of the opponent constantly. He tries to lower the self-esteem of the opponent. Parents can help their kids understand that good sportsmanship includes both small gestures and heroic efforts. It starts with something as simple as shaking hands with the opponents before a game and includes acknowledging game well played by others and accepting fouls or bad calls against us gracefully. The kids who learn these things will be benefitted in many ways. In the end I just want to say that a child who practises good sportsmanship is likely to carry the respect and appreciation of other people in all aspects of life. Aayush Bansal
