1. Foundational Insights Biblical In-Depth Analysis on the Origin of Mental, Emotional and Physical Disease
What is Disease Disease is a curse, not a blessing Disease can be o Mental/Emotional o Physical o Work of our Hands o Covenant Relationships (Us and God, Husband and Wife, Parents and Children)
Causes for the Curse Proverbs 26:2 Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, So a curse without cause shall not come. Isaiah 5:13 My people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge. Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. o Lack of knowledge makes us unable to walk in obedience to God and in His blessings
Spiritual Biology We are spirit, we have a soul and we live in a body 1 Thessalonians 5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
Spirit, Soul and Body Spirit: Our eternal identity Soul: Our mind with the sum total of our thoughts, feelings and emotions Body: The mobile home that we live in
Roots of Disease The war against us starts in the spirit It affects the soul by tormenting us in our thoughts, emotions and feelings At some point, then it affects the body and sickness and disease come into our lives At some point, then it may affect us in our covenant relationships At some point, it may even affect us in the work of our hands
Origin of Disease Separation from God Separation from Ourselves Separation from Others
If we sin against o God o ourselves o others If others sin against o us o others o God Separation Generational sins and generational curses
Hate God Blame God If We Sin against God Curse God Turn away from God Speak against God Turn others away from God Etc.
Self-Hate Self-Unforgiveness Self-Destruction Self-Abasement Self-Mutilation Etc. If We Sin against Ourselves
If We Sin against Others Hate others Abuse others Victimize others Commit injustice against others Criticize others Sabotage the work and the life of others Etc.
If Others Sin against Us Hate us Abuse us Victimize us Commit injustice against us Commit violent acts against us Criticize us Sabotage our work and our life Etc.
If Others Sin against Others If we suffer by witnessing or hearing about Abuse against others Victimization against others Injustice being committed against others Violent acts being committed against others Etc.
If Others Sin against God If we suffer by witnessing or hearing about Others hating God Others cursing God and blaspheming Others committing sin against God Etc.
Generational Sins and Generational Curses Sins passed down from previous generations that have brought a generational curse into our life Curses may be passed down from previous generations and may enter our bloodline also through sins that others committed against our ancestors
What is Sin Sin is deliberate, purposeful and voluntary disobedience to God, violation of His will and transgression of His Law Sin comprehends not action only, but neglect of known duty, evil thoughts, words and desires Anything that is not from faith All sin, whether is committed against us or we commit it against others, is ultimately committed against God
What is Generational Sin Sin that our past generations have been involved with deliberately, purposefully and voluntarily, in clear disobedience to God, in violation of His will and transgression of His Law and that has come into our life bringing an inclination towards the same weakness or that we have fully embraced and appropriated by sinning ourselves in that very same area Sin comprehends not action only, but neglect of known duty, evil thoughts, words and desires that our previous generations have been involved with and that we recognize and find in our life Anything that is not from faith that has been passed down
Consequences of Sin All sin allows and opens the door for the enemy of God to come into our life All sin gives the enemy of God the legal right to stay and wreak havoc in our life All sin puts us into bondage All sin opens the door for a curse to come into our life. The curse many times does not come right away, but sooner or later it surely comes
Who is the Enemy of God The word satan in Hebrew literally means enemy, opposer or adversary, but it does not refer to the great enemy of God as a specific being, fallen angel or character with horns and a tail In Biblical theology in its Ancient Near East context, it refers to an office or role We can say that satan is the adversary of God; he is anyone who is an opponent and an enemy of God and works against Him Those who work against God, work for satan; in other words, for a kingdom of evil that opposes itself to God Satan and his kingdom of evil and sin, which are in direct opposition to God, comprehend human beings and a spiritual realm that operates in and through those individuals
What is the role of satan John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Satan steals, kills, destroys and devours in our spirit, soul and body, in the work of our hands and in our covenant relationships through sin and generational sin
How does Satan work The war against us is spiritual and the battlefield is in our mind We are at war with an invisible evil kingdom that gives us thoughts and trains our mind to think in a certain way which is contrary to God s Law and will
Ourselves o o o o God o o Satan o o o o o Where do Thoughts I am thirsty I am tired and need to go bed I like pizza I need to take a shower come from I know that God is just and righteous I know that someone who does evil is serving the enemy I hate so and so because he has a new car I am angry and want to break something or hurt someone I am afraid of speaking in public I am afraid of my boss I am worthless, ugly and stupid
Our Weapons against Satan Learning how to cease to be destroyed for lack of knowledge In Hebrews 5:14 we are told to exercise our senses through use to discern both good and evil In 2 Corinthians 2:11 we are told to not be ignorant of satan s devices, so that satan will not outsmart us and take advantage of us Using the means that God has provided for us 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. Luke 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
What is the Role of Jesus John 10:10 - Life giver The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly Galatians 3:13 - Redeemer Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us for it is written, Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree 1 Peter 2:24 - Savior Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness John 12:49 - He came to show us the Father For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak
How do we Appropriate what Jesus has done for Us Hebrews 11:6 - We need to seek God Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him Matthew 15: 11,18,19,20 - We need to realize that evil comes from our heart Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man. Those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man 2 Corinthians 7:1 - We need to cleanse ourselves from evil Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God
What is the Will of God concerning our Well-Being 1Thessalonians 5:23 - Wholeness of spirit, soul and body Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ Proverbs 3:1-2 - Long life My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you
Summary The war is spiritual and the battlefield is in our mind We are at war with an invisible evil kingdom that gives us thoughts and trains our mind to think in a certain way which is contrary to God s Law and will What oppresses our spirit and wars in our mind, at some point may affect our body and this is when sickness and disease come into our lives Following God and learning and applying to our lives the principles taught in this course are paramount not only for healing purposes, but also for disease prevention
Final Considerations Medical professionals provide us many times with the means for disease management and few times with the means for disease eradication, but never consider the total sum of human beings as spirit, soul and body and therefore, they never get to the root of the problem, they only deal with the symptoms Alternative medicine practitioners and healers (new age healing, homeopathy, ayurveda, etc.) understand the connection between soul/ mind and body, but do not take into account that the problem starts in the spirit and therefore they never get to the root of the problem either, they only deal with the painful emotions and the tormenting feelings God provides us the means for disease eradication and prevention by helping us deal with the root of the problem which is in the spirit and He removes the oppression
