Rev. Mike Winters Pastor Leigh Clark Minister of Music & Youth Dr. Ray Jones, Jr. Pastor Emeritus WISE BAPTIST NEWS A PUBLICATION FOR MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF WISE BAPTIST CHURCH A place for faith and fellowship with family and friends. areas of life. Dear church family and friends, Sometimes we think that Christian faith is not practical in the real world. We may think it does not really work in some Consider the Apostle Paul. Over the course of ten years and three missionary journeys, he traveled by land and sea thousands of miles. He dealt with real world in many ways. His experiences were a practical laboratory for faith. He worked with people from cities, cultures, and continents over much of the known world. How to Join Wise Baptist Church: Express one of the following to the Pastor during the closing hymn: Transfer of Letter Transfer membership to Wise Baptist Church Baptism Desire to express faith in Christ through baptism Statement of Faith Baptized believer not on a membership roll Watch Care Desire to be connected to our Church family without official membership Paul experienced danger, criticism, rejection, loneliness, hunger, and sorrow. By the grace of God, he endured. He experienced God s peace, joy, provision, and power under the most trying of circumstances. Paul wrote almost one third of the New Testament. The next time you read some of Paul s letters or accounts of his journeys in Acts, drink in faith to live by in this world. From Leigh November 8 Reagan Elkins What a wonderful surprise! The Roberts family (Edd, Elizabeth, Shelby and Sarabeth) were in worship yesterday! They were some of the first people we met when we visited WBC in July of 1997. Our families have been friends ever since. I have really enjoyed leading the Thursday night Bible study on Gideon. I love the daily study leading up to our meeting. And, the message by Priscilla Shirer is awesome! But, mostly, I look forward to the fellowship, the discussion, the sharing of ideas, and the prayer time. It is encouraging to know that I am not the only one struggling yes, our struggles differ but, we are ALL struggling with something. And, finally, the reminder that God is always faithful is something that I need more than just on Sunday mornings. Gideon s story is short just three chapters in the Book of Judges. But, it is the story of every believer: uncertain, insecure, afraid, seeking empowered and led by God become a little too certain of ourselves and less dependent on God repent, receive God s grace repeat. Sometimes we get stuck in the chapter where we believe too much in ourselves and forget our need for God. Because sometimes what God requires of us is hard and it will mean change and we re not completely certain that we want to change. Following God is a daily decision; sometimes even a moment by moment decision. Thankfully, God is long-suffering and patient when it comes to His children. When I trust in Him alone, my weakness becomes His strength. Please remember to mark your calendar for Sunday, December 4 at 7 pm Let There Be Christmas will be presented by the Sanctuary choir and orchestra. The Jubilation Ringers will perform at The Inn again this year on Friday, December 2. Stay tuned for more details. I give thanks for each of you and for this church. I am praying for you this week; pray for each other, too. Blessings, Leigh Jubilation Ringers will rehearse at 9 am on Sunday! Thank you, Susan, for the meal last night Taco Bell is always a favorite! Congratulations to the Central One Act team for their first place finish at the Conference competition. The team will compete for the Region title on Nov. 12 in Marion. GOOD LUCK! Emma Snodgrass, Noah Hall, Sagan Holbrook and Mary Stuedemann are our WBC peeps!
