Raised in Glory: A Liturgy for Morning Prayer Lighting of the Candle The center candle is lit, the Officiant first saying We light this candle for the sick and suffering addicts inside and outside of these walls, for the babies born into addiction without a choice, and for our fallen sisters. May we be the light. The Officiant reads this or another passage from Scripture Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength (1 Corinthians 15:43) The Invitatory and Psalter All stand Officiant People Mothering God, be present in this circle. Our paths meet here to proclaim your praise. Officiant and People God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, The courage to change the things we can, And the wisdom to know the difference. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. Invitatory Psalm 1 Heavenly father I know you have been At work in my life in the seen and unseen, In my pain, I cry out Your name and wait on Your wisdom. I swim through the darkness on my heart and search for Your light within. I hold You in my spirit, I pray for Your light of change and peace more than anything in the world. Heavenly Father, as I wait on Your wisdom, I praise your Holy Name and worship You In Faith and Hope The Psalm Psalm 30 1 Written by a Magdalene resident

I will exalt you, O Lord, Because you have lifted me up And have not let my enemies triumph over me. O Lord my God, I cried out to you, and you restored me to health You brought me up, O Lord, form the dead; You restored my life as I was going down to the grave. Sing to the Lord, you servants of his; Give thanks for the remembrance of his holiness. For his wrath endures but the twinkling of an eye, Hi favor for a lifetime. Weeping may spend the night, But joy comes in the morning. While I felt secure, I said, I shall never be disturbed. You, Lord, with your favor, made me as strong as the mountains. Then you hid your face, And I was filled with fear. I cried to you, O Lord; I pleaded with the Lord, saying, What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise you or declare your faithfulness? Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me; O Lord, be my helper. You have turned my wailing into dancing; You have put off my sack-cloth and clothed me with joy. Therefore my heart sings to you without ceasing; O Lord my God, I will give you thanks for ever. The Lessons The First Reading Reader A Reading from Ezekiel For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put

my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God. (Ezekiel 36:24-28) The Word of the Lord Answer Thanks be to God Silence is kept after the reading. Isaiah 35:3-10 is read in unison. Strengthen the feeble hands, Steady the knees that give way; Say to those with fearful hearts, Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you. Then will the eyes of the blind be opened And the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, And the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness And streams in the desert. The burning sand will become a pool, The thirsty ground bubbling springs. In the haunts where jackals once lay, Grass and reeds and papyrus will grow. And a highway will be there; It will be called the Way of Holiness; It will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; Wicked fools will not go about on it. No lion will be there, Nor any ravenous beast; They will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there, And those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; Everlasting joy will overtake them, And sorrow and sighing will flee away. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. The Second Reading Reader A Reading from Paul s letter to the Colossians

Therefore, as God s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of open body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:12-17) The Word of the Lord. Answer Thanks be to God. The Song of Mary Luke 1:46-55 Magnificat Read in unison My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, My spirit rejoices in God my Savior; For he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: The Almighty has done great things for me And holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him In every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, He has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, And has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel, For he has remembered his promise of mercy, The promise he made to our fathers, To Abraham and his children for ever. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. The Third Reading Reader A Reading from the Gospel of John Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. They asked her, Woman, why are you crying?

They have taken my Lord away, she said, and I don t know where they have put him. At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. He asked her, Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for? Thinking he was the gardener, she said, Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him. Jesus said to her, Mary. She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, Rabboni! (which means Teacher ). Jesus said, Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God. Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: I have seen the Lord! And she told them that he had said these things to her. (John 20:11-18) The Word of the Lord Answer Thanks be to God. The Apostles Creed Officiant and People together, all standing I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit And born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, And is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, The holy catholic Church, The communion of saints, The forgiveness of sins, The resurrection of the body, And the life everlasting. Amen. The Prayers The people stand or kneel

Officiant People Officiant The Lord restores and heals us. And calls us home in love. Let us pray. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive hose Who trespass against us, And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, And the power, and the glory For ever and ever. Amen. Suffrages V. God, we come before you in this circle of power, R. Draw near, O Lord, and unite us in your Spirit. V. You have brought us to this place carrying our own stories, wounds, and joys to encounter one another and to live in your truth. Take our wills and our lives, and show us how to live, just for today; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 2 Intercessions may be offered here, either silently or aloud. Hymn: There is a Balm in Gilead Thanksgiving 3 2 Adapted from Narcotics Anonymous 3 Written by a resident of Magdalene

O God, of all things worthy, all things perfect You placed me on a rock alone, to find strength and foundation in You. The arrows of the enemy fly through the sky, threatening me. But you, O Lord, are my shield. You cover me and the arrows slay me not. Rescue me, Lord, from the hurt my past has created. Complete Your work in my life, with steadfastness. Humbly before you, I bow in thanks, knowing you are the only help for me. A Prayer of St. Chrysostom 4 Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen. Then may be said Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God. The Officiant may then conclude with the following Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine: Glory to him from generation to generation in the Church, and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20, 21) 4 Book of Common Prayer, 102.
