I hope you all are enjoying the warmer weather as I know everyone here is glad to be outside for a change. This spring has definitely been a busy one with Pink Rose, Steer Show, Greek Week, Parent s Day, and Senior Citizen Prom. This spring we recruited three new members, all of which have been well received and have become active in the chapter and a special thanks goes out to our VNR-Recruitment, Kyle Strohbehn, for getting that done. Pink Rose this year was held at the Holiday Inn in St. Joseph, Missouri, and that was again Beta Rho Noble Ruler Dan Temeyer headed up by VNR-Alumni Relations, Bill Gorrell. The annual Green and Gold Classic was held on February 28 th and was a success due to the efforts of the committee chairs, Curt Rennison and Tucker Mittag. Beta Rho also won Greek Week for the second time in three years, and that committee was headed by Lance Shepherd and Corbin Lester. Also at the Greek Awards ceremony held after Greek Week events, Beta Rho awarded the Outstanding New Member award to Nathan Swisher and Outstanding Active Member award to past Noble Ruler, Brady Miller. Our VNR-Planning, Barrett Chambers, has been busy making the arrangements for Parent s Day on April 10 th, which we hope will provide a good time for all of our families to get to know AGR and all of the brothers. Before finishing this semester, our Philanthropy chair, Justin Heimsoth, has setup for us to again host the annual Senior Citizen Prom, which I know all of the brothers enjoy. Lastly, Colten Catterton, a brother from Maryland hopes to put on a Crawfish feast in late April. Beta Rho s executive board has been working hard to make some improvements in the chapter including improving everyone s grades with an enforced study hours program, holding brothers accountable for their actions by enforcing the chapter s rules and constitution, and keeping the house looking nice with assigned weekly house cleanups and everyone pitching in to clean up after events. The entire executive board has been instrumental in the chapter continuing to improve and I thank all of them for their time and support. Overall, I am very happy with how the chapter has been progressing, we have definitely had some rough patches these past few years, but I am proud to call all of the men in Beta Rho my friends and brothers. I am looking forward to next semester and remember if you are ever around Maryville, please feel free to stop in, see the house, and chat about the good old days. Dan Temeyer Noble Ruler

Beta Rho Chapter Crescent Page 2 Greek Week 2010 2010 Greek Week Zeus royalty Bryce Roberts AGR was crowned 2010 Greek Week Champions With great pride I am writing this article. This was my first year serving as Greek Week co-chair with Corbin Lester. Greek week took place on March 6 till March 14 this year, with the theme being retro (60 s, 70 s, and 80 s). A 5k race started Greek week off on Saturday, which we had three brothers participate in (Brothers Stephens, Strohbehn, and Roberts). The Olympiad followed on Sunday. A chariot race was a new event this year. Brothers Stephens and Reigelsberger pulled brother Roberts in the chariot to receive 2 nd place in the race. We also received 1 st place in Olympiad, for over all chariot, which we also had 80% of our active members attend. A special thanks goes out to Brother Lester for finding tires for the chariot that has been used in the past. Monday was Rec Night, with four events. Brothers Lester, Pauley, and Abbott participated in tug of war and received 1 st place; while Brothers Brown, Rennison, and Beahler participated in dodge ball and received 2 nd place. The other two events we didn t place in but did very well. Brothers Sanders and Reigelsberger participated in knock out and Brother Greub participated in ping pong. We also had 80% attendance at Rec Night. Zeus and Hera competition took place on Wednesday night. Brother Bryce Roberts was our representative for Zeus this year and won the competition. For his talent performance he sang have you ever seen the rain, while playing guitar with help from Brother Nathan Swisher. During the awards ceremony, on Sunday March 14 Brother Stephens and Strohbehn participated in the All Greek Dance and later in the ceremony AGR was crowned the 2010 Greek Week Champions. Thank you to all the members who participated and who were supportive in this year s victory, hopefully it will become a reoccurrence in the future! Brother Lance Shepherd Recruitment Report Spring requirement went very well this semester, backing up the strong fall semester. The Brothers of Beta Rho issued three bids and initiated all three of these young men. The initiates are Jackson Yingling, Tim Harned and Cory Smith. In addition to these three new brothers the Beta Rho Chapter also initiated James Stubby Richardson as an honorary member of the chapter. We are now looking forward to Fall 2010 recruitment and another new group of men to join our Brotherhood. If any alumni know of any men coming to Northwest next fall please contact me at (402) 594-5158. Kyle Strohbehn VNR-Recruitment

Volume 1 Issue 2 Page 3 Senior Sendoff Justin Heimsoth Justin and I grew up about 20 miles away from each other and I knew of him but didn t really know him personally. I met him when I moved into the dorms, and Brian and Justin came over to help. We started hanging out, and I got to know him pretty well. He became my big brother and helped me get involved in things I hadn t previously done like philanthropy with the Senior Citizens Prom, and he showed me how much fun things like that could be. Justin has always had a good attitude and wanted the best for AGR. He has been a valuable member throughout his time at Northwest. He is graduating with a degree in Ag Business. I wish him the best with his career and everything else. Good luck Pinesol. Justin Heimsoth and Josh Linderman Derek Barr Josh Linderman When Josh adopted me as his little brother I didn t know anything about our fraternity or Josh himself. I was quick to find out that he is known as an old guy around the house and devotes a lot of effort towards keeping our fraternity traditions alive. Anytime I need something or have a question about the AGR, I always know that I can ask Josh and he will be willing to help. In the past he has been on the exec. Board twice and has always strived to have lots of activities within our chapter. He will be graduating with a degree in Ag Business and I wish him the best of luck in the future. Ethan Abbott The men of the Beta Rho Chapter at the Steer Show at the Livingston County Fairgrounds in Chillicothe, MO. Steer Show Report The 2010 AGR Green and Gold Classic was held on February 28 and went over with great success. We had a good turnout of cattle and exhibitors at our show. Everyone in attendances complimented on how professional we looked. I would like to thank everyone that donated money to our show and everyone that helped put this show on, and a big thanks to all of the exhibitors that came out for our show this year. Lets hope for an even bigger turn out next year. Curt Rennison

Advisor s Report Beta Rho Chapter Crescent Page 4 Greetings Brothers, I hope this letter finds you all doing well. With spring in full swing activities at the Beta Rho Chapter are winding down as summer break quickly approaches. The undergraduate chapter continues to make great strides and we look forward to great things in the future from this dedicated group of men. This coming fall we are looking forward to having a full house for the first time in quite a while. With a full house we should be able to make some needed improvements and we will be asking for a little bit of your time in the coming months to help. I m looking at early August sometime for a work weekend. Should you be interested please feel free to let me know and I ll remind you ahead of time. The chapter should be congratulated on their on-campus successes in both Homecoming and Greek Week this past academic year. Awards like this simply reinforce what we already know, that the Beta Rho Chapter can do anything that we put the necessary effort into and we can do it exceedingly well. The chapter also continues to be very involved in campus organizations and leadership positions within those organizations. I would like to thank those individuals who either donate through ACH, by check or who donated or paid dues at Pink Rose this past February. In addition those who give their time please know those efforts are greatly appreciated both by the alumni association and the undergraduate chapter. Thank you to everyone who turned out for Pink Rose. Though the alumni meeting attendance was less than stellar we had a great turnout for the evening festivities. It was good to see some familiar faces that we haven t seen in a while. For anyone looking at getting involved with the alumni association or helping the undergraduate chapter please let me know. There are several avenues to become involved and continuing the pledge we all took to Make Better Men. Richard M Blackburn, Chapter Advisor President, Beta Rho Alumni Assoc. rblack198@hotmail.com Upcoming Events The Beta Rho chapter is holding a couple events this summer that I would like to announce. The first of these is the Float trip which will be held at NRO Canoe Rental and Campground on Saturday July 31st 2010. Please RSVP to myself by phone or email by July 1, 2010. The second event will be work weekend which will be held on Saturday August 7th. We will also be working on the house Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. The third event that Beta Rho will be the annual Golf Tournament at Mozingo Lake Golf Course. It will be held on August 28th, 2010 at 10 am. Please RSVP to me by August 14th. VNR Alumni Relations Bill Gorrell I would also like to ask that if any of you know of any lost alumni to please let me know so I can update our address list. I hope all of you are having a good spring and I hope you have a great summer and would like to see you at some of these events.
