A NEW ROAD Editor s Note: In January, 2016, Dr. Frank Parrish and Rev. Lyle Horrill (World MAP Canada God would send them. We shared a Board member) conducted three World MAP seminars in Uganda. great week! The following are some exciting excerpts from Dr. Frank s travel journal. JANUARY 11-14 GULU, UGANDA Thrones, Crossroads and **Some background: Uganda has a history of despotic dictatorship under Idi Amin, who killed Christians wholesale in an attempt to make it a Muslim nation. This was followed by Kony (LRA leader) whose mass slaughters included a 3-day killing spree by his soldiers where 200,000 people died. Vast parts of Uganda are still depopulated from this, and the effect on the national psyche has been devastating. JANUARY 3-7 KITGUM, UGANDA Prepared to Go W e arrived in Kitgum after a 10-hour trek across the country. About 600 pastors had traveled by foot and bota bota (motorcycle) from around the province to learn about being Kingdom pastors and to receive a fresh anointing, healing and deliverance The Lord gave me a picture of arrows being shot out with great power and force, landing in Uganda and other nations it was a season of preparation before 2 Digest Edition 2 2016 Victories! Lyle and I felt to fast and pray, sensing demonic resistance and oppression over the city. I sensed the church in Gulu was at a crossroads, with multitudes in the valley of decision (Joel 3:14). The first night, there was loud worship, but little participation. When I stood to speak, there was such oppression and heaviness that even the air looked hazy. The Lord quickened Psalm 22:3 to my mind, and I shared how thrones represented power and authority (good and bad) and blessing, and how pastors could determine which throne would rule in the seminar, their churches, cities and ministries. "IT FELT AS IF THE ROOM WAS BEING SHAKEN" I led the 450 pastors in strong, aggressive worship to the Lord not emotionalism or singing, just loud sustained praise. It felt as if the room was being shaken. When the praise quieted, the difference was stark, and the air was literally clearer and felt cleaner! by Dr. Frank Parrish Prophecy, Decision and Prayer While teaching about the Kingdom, I began to prophecy that the Church in Uganda had endured persecution, violence and confusion, and had survived by hiding (understandably!). Though that was over, the Church was still functioning in fear and apathy in danger of settling for empty, nominal UGANDA seminars
religion instead of being a vital, victorious Bride. Pastors jumped to their feet, shouting that they would not surrender to the devil, but would serve the Lord with life and power! I shared about being in a valley of decision and how, as the ones with spiritual authority, the pastors could influence the future of the Church in Uganda. Before the Lord, how would they now function in their personal lives and in their ministries? The pastors responded not with shouting, but an intense seriousness. I had them pray for one another, and their fervor just about lifted the roof off! Repentance & Deliverance! We shared in a time of personal deliverance from generational curses, lies, sickness, poverty powerful! Pastors asked forgiveness for This teaching is what the church in Uganda is missing. This is what we must do to recover from the decades of persecution and slaughter. This will make the church strong again. Pastor Mark neglecting spouses and families, and repented from known sin. We used our authority as blood-washed and redeemed sons of God to cleanse every generational thing not born of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit did an amazing, sovereign work of freedom. January 18-21 - Tororo, Uganda Forgiveness & Freedom During intercession, I led the pastors to forgive all those who had failed, hurt, or betrayed them. They were falling on their knees weeping and crying out to God in both repentance and forgiveness. Then the Lord had me ask them to forgive the slaughtering dictators, Idi Amin and Kony. I could see they were shocked by such a concept. But once I explained the release that forgiveness would bring for the people, the response was very strong. We then loosed blessing over them, their children and future generations. What an intense and overwhelming time! UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE by Rev. Lyle Horrill I had the privilege of traveling to Uganda with Dr. Frank Parrish. It was an experience I will never forget. I witnessed the power of the Word and moving of the Holy Spirit upon leaders as I have never seen before. Frank ministers with such freedom, passion and anointing. The pastors had such spiritual hunger and thirst for the Word and Spirit, and an openness and appreciation for the teaching of God's Word. Many times the Holy Spirit would move across the entire assembly in waves of worship and praise. Through tears of joy, and often repentance, there would come shouts of victory, joy unspeakable and full of glory. Truly, the half will never be known of what God accomplished in His people during these seminars. There was always great excitement and anticipation for the presentation of The Shepherd s Staff. To see these leaders holding their book close to their heart made you realize what a treasure this resource is to them. BLOOD AND TREASURE Saturate West Africa - Update! The region is vast, the need is great, and World MAP is devoting four years to equipping as many pastors as possible in West Africa and Phase 1 is now complete! NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS Originally, Saturate Phase 1 included seminars in Cote d Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Mali. However, terrorist activity prior to the events forced the eight seminars into just Cote d Ivoire. This nation has endured armed conflict, economic oppression, government coups and civil war. Islam has a heavy influence, and there is active animism and occultism, including human sacrifice more than 100 people in the city of Abidjan in the last year! I could feel the oppression the moment I stepped off the plane. The opposition in the spiritual realm was palpable and could be seen in people s faces. Many pastors were discouraged and felt hopeless. Warfare in the Spirit was a necessity. called back to the U.S. due to a family crisis. I was now the only speaker for the remaining seminars. Then I suddenly came down with debilitating fever and chills and, though taking preventative medicine, had contracted malaria and another medical issue. I was prescribed treatments and complete bed rest for at least two weeks to avoid long-term complications. THE SPIRIT SPEAKS I sent word back home, and a group of local intercessors gathered to pray. After an hour, the Holy Spirit said to A DOUBLE STRIKE There were 2,000+ pastors at the first two seminars in Abidjan. We saw great breakthrough and joy being restored. When spiritually hungry pastors meet the Word and work of the Spirit, great things happen! The pastors testified to receiving the word of the Lord they needed in this hour. But unfortunately, near the end of the second seminar, our key coordinator, Dr. Fred Davis, was 4 Digest Edition 2 2016 Wendy, I have an exit strategy. This was so unusual that she laughed out loud, but left the meeting with a sense that God was in control. However, the phrase would not leave her mind. So she looked it up and found it was a military term that includes, leaving a current situation after a predetermined objective has been achieved; to peg a withdrawal to the achievement of an objective worth more than the cost of continued involvement; to minimize losses of blood and treasure. By then, I had completed a third seminar in
Abengourou and was so weak that, for the first time in my life, I had to sit on a stool to finish a teaching. I made it back to my room and collapsed from exhaustion. Five more seminars, four sessions a day Lord, what would you have us do? AN UNEXPECTED SHIFT I did not want to withdraw from West Africa early. What about the remaining seminars, the investment of time and resource, and the many pastors who awaited our arrival? Thankfully, God is an absolute master at orchestrating even the most challenging circumstances for good. He not only gave us a strategy, but used this situation to birth the release of an even greater vision. more than 10,000 Shepherd's staffs WERE GIVEN TO PASTORS IN WEST AFRICA! A guiding scripture for us is 2Timothy 2:2, And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. There were several very capable national pastors who had helped coordinate the events. They had attended the first three seminars and heard the teachings. So I gathered them together, gave them my teaching notes, prayed over them and charged them to continue the itinerary and carry out the seminars in Cote d Ivoire. I am thrilled to report that they accomplished this with great diligence. The final seminars in Saturate West Africa Phase 1 were effective and fruitful! And more than 10,000 Shepherd s Staffs have been put into the hands of pastors. A predetermined objective was realized, with minimal losses. Hallelujah! This situation has also launched an expanded training strategy for World MAP. At every seminar, the team will meet with a small group of recommended, proven leaders for additional training, prayer and ministry. They will be given a notebook of current World MAP teachings, and enfranchised to gather leaders in their areas and impart to them what they have received as World MAP Trainers of Trainers! YOU ARE NEEDED As this DIGEST goes to press, my health is recovered and I am in southern Africa conducting more seminars. This fall, I will continue the Saturate West Africa campaign in Ivory Coast, Benin and Niger. There is much warfare needed in the spirit to regain lost territory and gain new ground for God s Kingdom.
