We invite you to sign and pass the Friendship Book located at the end of your pew. If you re a first-time visitor, our prayer is that you will experience the presence of the eternal, as we worship our God together. WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS Debbie Welch PRELUDE Come to Calvary s Holy Mountain Organ Lani Smith CALL TO WORSHIP The psalmist sings, One thing I asked of the Lord, that I will seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in God s temple. Sisters and brothers, God is good, and in love and mercy greets us here. Lois Robertson Psalm 27:4 Reprinted by permission of Westminster John Knox Pres from Feasting on the Word worship Companion. 2012 *SONG(S) Worship Team FOREVER Give thanks to the Lord, our God and King For he is good, he is above all things With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm For the life that s been reborn

(REFRAIN) I need thee, O I need thee, every hour I need thee; O bless me now, my Savior, I come to thee! I need thee every hour, stay thou near by; temptations lose their power when thou art nigh. (REPEAT REFRAIN) (VERSE 3) I need thee every hour in joy or pain; come quickly and abide or life is vain. (REPEAT REFRAIN) (VERSE 4) I need thee every hour, most Holy One; O make me thine indeed, thou blessed Son! (REPEAT REFRAIN)

CONFESSION & FORGIVENESS Lois Robertson There are many times we think we love you well, O God. But upon hearing your call to love you with all our heart, and all our mind, and all our strength, we confess that our love for you is a diluted love, made insipid and flat by lesser loyalties and a divided heart. Our love seems pure only for brief moments; soon our affections are drawn away. How easily our devotion dies. Forgive us; in deep mercy spare us, despite our lost first love for you; in grace rekindle our love for you in seeing anew Jesus love for us. Amen. Silent Prayer God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Nick Robertson OFFERING OF OURSELVES & OUR GIFTS With grateful hearts, let us offer ourselves and our gifts to God, in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. *Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below Praise him above ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost *Prayer of Dedication Offertory The Lord s Supper Organ Michael Shea OLD TESTAMENT READING: Jeremiah 29:10-14 Nick Robertson

10 This is what the LORD says: When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you, declares the LORD, and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile. *SONG Worship Team HOW DEEP THE FATHER S LOVE FOR US How deep the Father s love for us, How vast beyond all measure That he should give his only Son, To make a wretch his treasure. How great the pain of searing loss, The Father turns his face away As wounds which mar the Chosen One, Bring many sons to glory. Behold the Man upon the cross, My sin upon his shoulders Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice, Call out among the scoffers. It was my sin that held him there, Until it was accomplished His dying breath has brought me life, I know that it is finished. (VERSE 3) I will not boast in anything, No gifts, no power, no wisdom But I will boast in Jesus Christ,

His death and resurrection. Why should I gain from his reward? I cannot give an answer But this I know with all my heart, His wounds have paid my ransom. God s Word is a lamp to our feet, and a light to our path. Thanks be to God! MESSAGE A Purpose Driven Life Andrew Bortz *SONG Worship Team HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD The splendor of the King clothed in majesty Let all the earth rejoice, all the earth rejoice He wraps himself in light and darkness tries to hide And trembles at his voice and trembles at his voice (CHORUS) How great is our God! Hopson Knox Choir SHARING AROUND CHRIST S TABLE COMMUNION Rev. Don Meekhof Christ becomes a part of our flesh through Holy Communion. The Lord s Supper is not an end in itself. It always points beyond itself to celebrate God s grace and covenant faithfulness. This does not mean the physical aspects of the celebration are incidental or unimportant. The Lord s Supper should be a celebration fitting to the abundant grace of God offered in Christ. Invitation to the Lord s Supper Breaking of the Bread & Pouring of the Cup Sharing the Body and Blood of Christ *CLOSING SONG It is the custom at Knox, in celebration of Holy Communion, to hold hands and form a circle around the sanctuary to sing our closing song BLEST BE THE TIE THAT BINDS

(Hymn #708) Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love; the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above. *BENEDICTION Lois Robertson *POSTLUDE Trumpet Voluntary Organ Stanley E. Saxton
