The Sabbath start and End, Dawn or Sunset by Rabbi Simon Altaf 28, Dec 2013 Yahushua The name of the Messiah is not Jesus, which many in the Western world still pronounce incorrectly taken in 325 CE from mixing three deities by the pagan priests of Constantine. Torah These are the first five books in the Bible written by Moses (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy contained in every Christian Bible but vastly ignored by Christians) Since Torah is instruction in Rabbinic understanding it can encompass all the books up to Malachi. Note the Renewed Contract writings are a testimony of the Messiah written by his disciples and other witnesses and not strictly scripture in the same class as the Tanak but only loosely and that they can be used for instruction as long as they do not contradict the Torah and prophets. Tanak (Scriptures from Beresheeth (Genesis) to Dibre Ha Yamim Bet (Second Chronicles) YHWH - The four letters of the sacred name of God. HTHS All quotes using the Hidden-Truths Hebraic Scrolls unless otherwise indicated, this can be acquired from Amazon or www.african-israel.com. Note, we do not give the gentiles a right to translate and corrupt our scrolls that were given to us (True Y'sra'el). Christendom and their myriads of denominations for far too long have corrupted and misinterpreted our ordinances, commandments and statutes not differentiating between secular and sacred not separating the clean from the unclean. Woe onto them. We'YIkra (Lev) 10:10 And that you may distinguish between set-apart and not set-apart, and between clean and unclean Sabbath - How long is it and when does it start? Most people are going to get confused at the following passage and all their subsequent theology is built upon this one verse which I will prove here is quite a wrong way to look at things. Let us look at the plain reading of the text. Beresheeth (Gen) 1:5 Elohim/Powers called the light Day, 1 and the darkness 2 He called Night. So the evening and the morning were Yom Akhad (Day one). Read the previous verse what was revealed first, THE LIGHT. Beresheeth (Gen) 1:3 And Elohim/Powers said, Light be; and light was. 1 Note the Hebrew day begins with sunrise and this does not define a sunset day. This simply shows you how the night is married to the day but is a separate part called "darkness" and in the Hebrew Khoshek. and ends at sunset. A clear drash of troubles in our life followed by the brilliant light of Messiah and rejoicing in the Millennium. 2 A separate part of the Day called Khoshek, in which everything comes to rest. Note the Temple times were Sunrise day and not sunset day. 1

So what was created First? Light. Elohim created ten things originally according to the Talmudic literature and one of them was LIGHT. That means it is LIGHT that is counted as DAY. Beresheeth (Gen ) 1:2 The land was desolate, and chaotic; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Ruakh of Elohim/Powers (Set-Apart Spirit) was fluttering over the face of the mayim. Note that it is darkness on the face of the Sea but YHWH never called the Darkness DAY, darkness was the inactive part of the DAY called "night". Look at Tikkun Chatzot midnight petition, its whole purpose is to bemoan and afflict ourselves for the destruction of the Temples and for our exile. Yet the Sabbath is commanded as a Delight. So would you be crying and beating your chest during or after the weekly Sabbath? This is why when the Sabbath was switched in 45 BCE because the Yahudim started following the Julian Calendar imposed by the Romans and before that the sunset to sunset calendar imposed by the Greeks in 175 BCE to forcefully remove our original patriarchal Calendar of Chanok. The Calendar of Chanok which we will look at later is a priestly calendar and is so perfectly designed to work with the sun and is calibrated not to lose time. Yeshayahu (Isa) 58:13 If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my Set-Apart day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the Set-Apart of YHWH, honorable; and shall respect him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words: How can you work on the Sabbath if it night time? Clearly the inference of the message is not to do your things and they could only have been done during the LIGHT hours of the day and not NIGHT hours. This is why if you were going to go shopping in ancient times you would go at the DAY light hours. In ancient middleeast and African cultures people went shopping in the morning or early evening to avoid the heat. In ancient Israel and neither in the wilderness you would not go for a walk at NIGHT. This is why things must be seen in their correct context. A Sabbath does no automatically equal 12 hours, 24 hours or even 360 days. If someone said the Sabbath is 24 hours they are quite mistaken, an hour does not equal sixty minutes and in ancient time we did not go by hours but using a sun dial we were able to divide the day up to equal portions. The day was divided into twelve parts so an ancient hour was 1/12th of a day. That may well be sixty minutes, seventy minutes or even ninety minutes. Since if you consider the sun light varies in different countries and at different times of the year. In England e.g., summer time the morning sunrise begins around 6am and sun light does not go out until around 10.30pm. Now if you count that is sixteen and a half hours of day light instead of twelve hours standard. If we were to be honest the Torah does not give us a complete definition of the Sabbath but defines what I just stated above. We the Lewites were given instructions on how to define the Sabbath and this was taught to us. We were shown the difference between Day and Night so we knew what is DAY (Light) and what is a night (Darkness). 2

Weekly Sabbath -12 hours The Yearly Sabbath - the festival of Atonement Yom Kippurim : 24 hours Seven yearly Sabbaths - The Shemita the complete 7 times 7 according to the Chanok Calendar. The Enoch calendar is 360 days plus four to make 364 as per the Enochian year. One extra day is added every 90 days to balance out the four seasons. The four days that are added are not counted in the timeline. The definition of a Yom can mean a day for that day is both day (light) and night (darkness) both are separate parts of it. Shemoth (Exo) 20:8 [Dalet: Four] Remember 3 the Sabbath day [Light], to keep it set-apart. Note what I told you earlier that God never called darkness DAY so he had to create the LIGHT. Here we are told to remember the Day [Light part]. Let me read for you the Hebrew to point out an important point. זכור את יום השׁבת לקדשׁו Exo 20:8 Zikor ET Yom Ha-Shabbat Le'Kodesh Note we are told to Remember the Day [Light], we are never told to remember the night [darkness]. The darkness which was called "the Night" necessitated the creation of LIGHT, which was subsequently called DAY so Day and LIGHT are synonymous terms but we are only commanded to remember the DAY (Light). וירא אלהים את האור כי טוב ויבדל אלהים בין האור ובין החשׁך Gen 1:4 Ve'Ra Elohim ET Ha'aur Ke Tov Weh'badal Elohim Bein Ha'aur, Weh'Bein Ha'Khoshek. Since the light has already been created God did not have to recreate the light so he merely separated it. Well why separate it? Since in the night darkness time we cannot do anything but rest therefore it requires to be separated. Allegorically it also represents the evil wicked one and his activities which he tries to do in the darkness. Why do thieves steal at night, is that mere coincidence? Note most acts of immorality are always carried out in DARKNESS. Do you see now why it then needs to be separated! So this is a separation of the light or set-apart people allegorically and the wicked ones too. When does the New Day start Shemoth (Exo) 32:4-5 And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf. Then they said, 3 This is a seal of a believer, hence it is mentioned as number four, because it is a contract sign in the Ten. Anyone who claims to be a believer but does not keep the 7 th day Sabbath will have a very lowly status if allowed to enter the kingdom. It s not just about reciting a four line rescue prayer, and then doing what you like, as in the present is erroneously taught in church/man s dogma. 3

This is your elohi, O Y sra el that brought you out of the land of Mitzrayim (Egypt). 5 So when Aharon saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aharon made a proclamation and said, Tomorrow is a feast khag (appointed celebration time) to YHWH. When the children of Y'sra'el built the golden calf or more properly the goddess Hathor notice Aharon builds the Altar in the day time when its light but does not say the feast is TODAY because if the new DAY began at SUNSET then surely why would he say the feast is TOMORROW. Because the days always BEGAN at first sunlight or SUNRISE. The Sun is what determines the DAY not the sunset. I want to point out one more thing that the children of Y'sra'el had no problem serving the goddess Hathor who was a female in reality. So what does that means? It means YHWH cannot be strictly displayed as masculine, he has to have a feminine side and that feminine side is Em Chukmah (Holy Spirit) and the children of Y'sra'el recognised that so who was the statue Hathor of? It was of the Holy Spirit, in other words the Ruakh Ha Kadosh. That is what Aharon had helped to build or what we may term the Shekinah that is feminine side of God. How can I prove this? Easy. What actions do they carry out in front of the feminine goddess? They strip, they dance and they have an orgy. In other words it was mainly sexual so what type of deity would be suited to doing a sexual act for males? A female deity. Remember the gentiles around Y'sra'el that worshipped male deities they did not do sexual acts but they did child sacrifices. This is an important observation. Another important observation can be made in ancient times when YHWH's altar was defiled it was always by Ishtar who was a female goddess. Third point the artefacts found in antiquities have shown in many instances YHWH's name associated with either Ishtar or another female deity who is referred to as his consort. This means this was well recognised in Y'sra'elite history. We were not misogynists like many today believe. The Day begins at Sunrise Shemoth (Exodus) 16:23 And he said to them, This is what YHWH has said, Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a set-apart Sabbath to YHWH; bake what you will bake TODAY, 4 and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning. Note, the Y'sra'elites are being told TOMORROW is the Sabbath, Tomorrow when? That would be SUNRISE. If the day started at sunset they would have been told Today at Sunset is the Sabbath but were not told this. The instruction was to wait until MORNING. This clearly explains the beginning of the new day is Sunrise, it would be wrong to argue this point its clear as day light. 4 There is to be no lighting of fire for cooking on the Sabbath, so all cooking must be done before the start of the Sabbath, Saturday sunrise until Sunday sunrise. The Sabbath was switched to Friday sunset to Saturday sunset after Antiochus invaded Y'sra'el and forced the people to give up the Torah and had many families killed. You can warm up food cooked on the previous day, not by lighting a gas fire; but on an electric hot plate, or in microwave oven, or have food the whole Sabbath warmed in a crock pot that runs with electric. No business transactions must be executed on the Sabbath either. It must be kept a set-apart day for YHWH. 4

The Messiah said the day has 12 hours which does not disqualify the day as comprising morning/evening. Everyone understood what the designation day means in Torah always referring to Sunrise. So Beresheeth 1:5 Elohim/Powers called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were Yom Akhad (Day one). It is a mistake to assume day begins from sunset since this was forced upon the Hebrew people by the Greeks, they had a sunset to sunset day from that point onwards and not before that. Everything in the Temple began from sunrise that is how they calculated their day and the others calculated from sunset. Nekhem'yah shows us the day ended at sunset. Neh 13:19 And it came to pass, that when the gates of Yerushalim began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath: and some of my servants I set at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day. Till after the Sabbath - Meaning Sabbath finished at sunset and the new day would not start again until the next sunrise. Note weekly Sabbath commencing sunrise since the gates were shut means this is the end of the day sunlight period! No further business would be conducted. So the gates would only be reopened at the sunrise when the new day began. Why would merchants try to sell merchandise at night in ancient Israel? There was no proper form of light and people did not venture out for fear of being robbed. John 11:9 Yahushua answered, are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. Therefore Yahukhannan 11:9 tells us the day equals 12 hours. When our people use the term Yom they can quote any portion of the day. Look at Matthew 6:11 "Give us this day our daily bread." The Hebrew is Ten Lanu Ha Yom Lakhem Khukenhu. Note here Ha Yom the "day" or Light part, it does not say give us this "night" for which the word would be khoshek or Erev. It is clear here that asking for "bread" is not talking about food but it is talking about our daily petitions beginning at dawn when it is yet dark or early sunrise hours the Shakrit prayers. This was established by our father Abraham, the mincha (noon) prayer was established by Isaac and the evening prayer was established by Jacob. Matt 17:23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. 5

Notice Mattityahu Lewi says "in the third "DAY" he will be raised. So what time of day Messiah arose? He arose in the twilight before the Saturday Shabbat Sabbath came on Saturday morning. The day (Light) ended by sunset but the complete yom period was still around 24 hours and would continue until next sunrise. Therefore the Master Yahushua rose before the sunrise in fact before the light went out in the preceding evening of Saturday night what we call between the evenings. The same evidence given by Yahukhannan in 20:19 is the nail in the coffin. Yahukhannan (John) 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being yom rishon (first day) of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Yahudim 5 (Hebrew people of Judea), appeared and stood in the middle, and said to them, Shalom (peace be to you). Then the Same DAY at EVENING. He does not call that EVENING a New day. In other words DAY begins at SUNRISE AND EVENING is part of the Same Day. Mark 1:21 And they went into Kfar Nachum; and straightway on the Sabbath DAY he entered into the Qahal, and taught. It does not say Sabbath night but Sabbath DAY. This is quite important. Luke 4:42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a deserted place: and the people looked for him, and came to him, and asked him, that he should not depart from them. Day is always the LIGHT part of the day. Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Master, Master, have we not prophesied in your name?... 6 If you were going to meet the Master in that night then the text would say in that night and not "in that day"... The Greek Hamera G2250 here always signifies the Light hours of the day. Matthew 10:15 Verily I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sedom and Amorah in the Day of Judgment, than for that city. 5 The anti-semitic text of the Greek makes it sound like Jews were after Christians but this is not how it was as there was no such thing as a Christian follower of Messiah. The disciples were Hebrew but they were in fear of the unbelieving Jews in Judea specially the leadership but in essence they were together because of the havdallah ceremony of the Sabbath, which concludes the Sabbath on Saturday night. Most Christians think this is Sunday night not knowing Hebrew calculation of days. 6 Using the name Jesus but here it is more about authority than the actual pronunciation of the name. They misused His authority and He rejects them as Torahless. 6

God judged Sedom and Amorah in the day light hours when everyone could see fire coming down on Sedom out of heaven. It is called Day of Judgment, in the Hebrew Yom ha Din but if it was the Night of Judgment it would be called Layla Ha Din, the Hebrew does not leave us in doubt. These help to explain that the Yom always refers to the LIGHT part of the day. Day is 12 hours Matthew 20:1 For the kingdom of shamayim is like to a man that is a householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. Early in the morning meaning at Day Break. 2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 And said to them; Go you also into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you. And they went their way. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. The third hour, the sixth hour and the ninth hour are now being described the days different portions. The ninth hour is the 3pm our time roughly. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and said to them, Why do you stand here idle all day? 11th hour is towards the end of the day around 5pm. 7 They said to him, Because no man has hired us. He said to them, Go also into the vineyard; and whatever is right, that shall you receive. 8 So when the evening came, the master of the vineyard said to his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last to the first. Note at evening Erev everything comes to rest. This is the END of the YOM (LIGHT) part. 9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a denarius. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a denarius. 11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the landowner, 12 Saying, These last have worked one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who have bore the hardship and heat of the day. 13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I did you no wrong: did you not agree with me for a denarius? In other words those that worked all the light hours were paid as equal to those that just worked one hour. He does not say to the one coming at the eleventh hour that it is 5pm so you have to fill another 11 hours and stay until 4am in the morning. Gen 22:4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off. 7

וישׁכם אברהם בבקר ויחבשׁ Vah Yashkem Abraham ba boker...ve'ya Khamosh Then on the third day or on the Third morning. It does not say on the third day meaning evening when Abraham could not see anything at night. Mark 1:32 And at the evening, when the sunset... This is important as a new day did not start at "sunset". The same day (light) ended and the evening part was of the same day that continued. Pliny an Italian who lived during 23 CE to 79 CE stated the Babylonians celebrated their day sunrise to sunrise so the idea that they did a sunset day is a total misquotation. It was the Greeks who worked their day sunset to sunset. Sabbath day confirmed in the ritual uncleanness laws We'Yikra (Lev) 11:24 And for these you shall be unclean: whosoever touches the carcass of them shall be unclean until the evening. Why Evening? Because a typical Yom (Day light) ends at SUNSET. It does not continue to the next sunset. If the day started at sunrise it makes sense it ends at sunset as the night part of the day though the same day but is a separate portion of the day making it akhad (One in unity). The Day (Light) and Night (Darkness) have to be married to make one complete day. You may ask can we do things on the evening sunset on before a sunrise Sabbath, the answer is yes. Yes you can cook, clean, hoover your home, etc no problem. Conclusion The original Sabbath was sunrise to sunset and never sunset to sunset a day which was brought after the Grecian captivity and forced upon our people which seems to have stuck with many while the zealots and Essenes (The true house of Zadok) never followed any such day and the Messiah did not follow a sunset to sunset Sabbath as has been indicated in John 11:9.
