To Members and Friends of Oakland-Cambridge Presbyterian Church, PASTOR SCOTT IS BACK from his annual Continuing Education time at the Washington Island Theological Forum. This was his 17 th year attending the Forum which is hosted by the Wisconsin Council of Churches and the Christian Century Magazine. This year the presenter was the Rev. Dr. Anna Carter Florence. She is the Peter Marshall Professor of Preaching at Columbia Theological Seminary and an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Her most recent book, Rehearsing Scripture: Discovering God s Word in Community was the focus of her presentations. Together we explored the Verbs in the Scripture Text. Pastor Scott also participated in the Morning Worship, reading Scripture and wearing his cool new Pineapple Hawaiian Shirt! Page 1

PASTOR SCOTT WILL BE GONE AGAIN on Sunday, July 15 (July 13-16). He and Staci will be co-officiating at the wedding of their nephew in St. Paul, MN. MEET ELVIS! Elvis is Tyce Bettenhausen s 1200 Pound Steer! He is showing him this week at the Stoughton Junior Fair! Tyce is also showing his pigs. MEET KHLOE! She is Tara Bettenhausen s calf. Tara, like her brother, is showing her calf at the Stoughton Junior Fair. WHERE S THE BEEF? (and the pig along with a rabbit)- It is at the Stoughton Junior Fair! The fair runs July 4-8 th. Our own Tyce and Tara Bettenhausen along with Emily Hansen will be showing their fair animals. If you are looking for an enjoyable outing, this is certainly a place to go! Beef Show is Wednesday, July 4 at 9 AM; Open Beef Show - July 5 at 6 PM; Swine Show - July 6 at 8:30 AM; Rabbit Show - July 7 at 9 AM. These young people who are connected with the Lake Ripley 4-H Group have been learning about stewardship for animals. The bittersweet moment for them comes when they sell their beef and swine animals. Proceeds go to their future college funds. You are invited to attend any or all of these events, including the sale. It is a great way to support our church youth and the youth of our area! Plus, you can eat all kinds of fried, yummy fair food too! PANCAKES, EVERYONE! The Deacons are once again holding their annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, August 4 as a part of Maxwell Street Days. ALL-CHURCH PICNIC AND HAYRIDE ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 12 AT 4:30 PM. The congregation is invited to join the Session and Deacons for a cookout at the home of Ann and Dale Febock. Hot Dogs, Brats and Burgers will be provided.
