There s A Sweet, Sweet Spirit In This Place SUNDAY WORSHIP 10:00 A.M. FEBRUARY 26, 2017 ANNUAL USHERS & GREETERS DAY CELEBRATION! 620 Parkrose Avenue Memphis, TN 38109 901.785.1612 www.mt-vernon.org Dr. James L. Netters, Senior Pastor Reverend Melvin D. Watkins, Co-Pastor

OUR AFFIRMATION OF FAITH I believe in God, the maker of Heaven and Earth, the ruler and preserver of our lives. I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, my Lord, and Savior. I believe in the Holy Spirit, who proceeded from the Father and Son, who is the giver of life. I believe in the Bible, the Universal Church, Holy Baptism, and the Lord s Supper. I believe in the Resurrection of the dead and life in the world to come. Psalm 84 (NKJ) RESPONSIVE READING 1How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! 2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. 3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. 4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. 5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. 6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. 7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. 8 O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah. 9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. 11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. 12 O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. BENEDICTION Praise God, From Whom All Blessings Flow; Praise Him, All Creatures Here Below; Praise Him Above, Ye Heavenly Host Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen Our Mission The Mount Vernon Baptist Church- Westwood exists to honor God in all that we do, proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and live by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Title: Scripture: Notes: Lift Every Voice And Sing

Song Lyrics by James Weldon Johnson Lift every voice and sing, till earth and Heaven ring, Ring with the harmonies of liberty; Let our rejoicing rise, high as the listening skies, Let it resound loud as the rolling sea. Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us, Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us; Facing the rising sun of our new day begun, Let us march on till victory is won. Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod, Felt in the days when hope unborn had died; Yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet, Come to the place for which our fathers sighed? We have come over a way that with tears has been watered, We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered; Out from the gloomy past, till now we stand at last Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast. God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, Thou Who hast brought us thus far on the way; Thou Who hast by Thy might, led us into the light, Keep us forever in the path, we pray. Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee. Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee. Shadowed beneath Thy hand, may we forever stand, True to our God, true to our native land.
