Refrain: O victory in Jesus, My Savior, forever. He sought me and bought me, With His redeeming blood; He loved me ere I knew Him, And all my love is due Him, He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood. I heard about His healing, Of His cleansing power revealing. How He made the lame to walk again, And caused the blind to see; And then I cried, "Dear Jesus, Come and heal my broken spirit," And somehow Jesus came and brought to me the victory. Refrain I heard about a mansion, He has built for me in glory. And I heard about the streets of gold, Beyond the crystal sea; About the angels singing, And the old redemption story, And some sweet day I'll sing up there, The song of victory. Refrain MOMENT OF INSPIRATION: "Nothing, how little so ever it be, if it is suffered for God's sake, can pass without merit in the sight of God." (Thomas a Kempis) Rev. Dr. Jerry L. Anniversary H A P P Y C N J E N K I N S U S H E R B O A R D Celebrating 38 Years of Service The late Dr. Thomas Jenkins, interim pastor of Brandon United Presbyterian Church (later renamed C.N. Jenkins Memorial Presbyterian Church), organized a group of dedicated members to create the first formal Usher Board Ministry. Originally, Deacons and Elders performed this service for the church. Dr. Jenkins recognized the need for a group of committed lay people who would serve in this capacity to bring order, structure, and a welcoming atmosphere to all those who passed through the doors of the church. In later years, the Usher Board Ministry expanded to include Junior Ushers giving our young people the opportunity to serve our membership. Ushers are to be people of God who serve the church by enhancing the worship service, providing a friendly, cheerful greeting to all who pass through their post and maintain order in a congenial manner. Today we are celebrating 38 years. We have been blessed to have all individuals who have made the commitment and dedication to serve the church in faith and love. If you are interested in serving on the Usher Board Ministry, please reach out to any of our ushers. Our monthly meetings are held on the 1st Monday of the month at 6:30 pm. W E L C O M E T O C. N. J E N K I N S! WE'RE SO GLAD YOU'VE CHOSEN TO BE WITH US ON THIS SUNDAY! MORNING SCRIPTURE: Genesis 37:3-11 (NLT) 3 Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because Joseph had been born to him in his old age. So one day Jacob had a special gift made for Joseph a beautiful robe. 4 But his brothers hated Joseph because their father loved him more than the rest of them. They couldn t say a kind word to him. 5 One night Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him more than ever. 6 Listen to this dream, he said. 7 We were out in the field, tying up bundles of grain. Suddenly my bundle stood up, and your bundles all gathered around and bowed low before mine! 8 His brothers responded, So you think you will be our king, do you? Do you actually think you will reign over us? And they hated him all the more because of his dreams and the way he talked about them. 9 Soon Joseph had another dream, and again he told his brothers about it. Listen, I have had another dream, he said. The sun, moon, and eleven stars bowed low before me! 10 This time he told the dream to his father as well as to his brothers, but his father scolded him. What kind of dream is that? he asked. Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow to the ground before you? 11 But while his brothers were jealous of Joseph, his father wondered what the dreams meant. USHER S DAY LITANY People: People: All: UNISON PRAYER We Understand that before we enter the Sanctuary, there are those who have prepared the temple for worship. We honor their Service, and praise God for their accepting the call to serve as doorkeepers and welcome us into the Holy place. The caretaking of the temple door is a sacred trust, never to be undervalued, always to be Hallowed. God has Entrusted ushers with a noble duty and his work is a divine assignment. With praise, we acknowledge their preparedness; with gratitude, we appreciate their gifts and sacrifice. With Reverence, we honor the doorkeepers of God s House! And we pray God s manifold blessings upon their individual lives and collective ministry on this their Special day. O God, we seize this opportunity to celebrate those who serve us diligently. As we appreciate their service, we also spend these passing moments to reflect on our own opportunities to serve you and your people. May our lives be full of gratitude and service, for they go hand in hand. We are grateful, therefore, we serve. And for the opportunity to serve, we are grateful. Amen.
