2018 March /April W here in the world do I begin? asked Olivia. I thought we could find a book about butterflies here at the library. But there are so many books! How do I even start looking?! Books of the Bible Challenge Olivia s mother looked at her kindly. Ever since the butterfly bush in their yard started blooming, lots of butterflies had been visiting, and Olivia wanted to read about these beautiful creatures. Olivia, her mother started, let s ask the librarian. When they did, the kind librarian looked on her computer, wrote down some numbers and suggested they follow her. Mom! Olivia exclaimed. She led us right to the books we were looking for! After they thanked the librarian, Olivia s mom said, It isn t so hard to find what you re looking for when you know how to go about it! The Bible is like that. It s a big book! Actually, it s a collection of 66 books. There are 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the. And until you learn how to go about it, it can sometimes be a challenge to find just what you re looking for. Our My Place With Jesus challenge for March and April is to memorize the books of the Bible. Here are some helpful tips to get you started: ww Break your memorizing down into sections. Maybe you could memorize the books of the Bible in groups of 5 or 6 books at a time. ww Sing the books of the Bible! Putting something to music often makes it much easier to remember. ww Make it fun! Have someone test you as you go maybe by asking you, What book is between Matthew and Luke? Or, What book comes after Isaiah? ww Test yourself! Use the flash cards provided to quiz yourself. And be sure to use spare moments, such as when you re riding in the car or waiting in line at a store. ww Go online! Visit myplacewithjesus.com and play the Books of the Bible game, and download worksheets that will make learning fun! There are also mobile apps available that will help you memorize the books of the Bible.
