TRINITY RETREAT SCHEDULE January December 2012 Blessed John Henry Newman January- August 2012 ~ Growing In Confidence & Trust in God September-December 2012
Greetings, The beatification of John Henry Newman was a powerful reminder to priests, deacons, and religious of what is most important. Newman, both as an Anglican and a Catholic, was subject to many trials, disappointments and misunderstandings. Yet he never descended to false compromises or easy agreements. He always remained honest in his search for the truth, faithful to the prompting of his conscience and focused on the ideal of sanctity. One of the mottos Newman chose was Growth is the only evidence of life expresses his understanding of the necessity for continuous conversion, transformation and interior growth, always faithfully relying on God. He summed up his own experience of growth in faithfulness to himself and to the Lord s will in these well known words, Here below to live is to change, and to be perfect is to have changed often.
