The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church 2158 ROUTE 106 MUTTONTOWN NEW YORK 11791 By the Grace of God, Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Diocesan Metropolitan Dear Conference Participant, July 9, 2014 We take this opportunity to offer our thanksgiving to God, in welcoming you to the 2014 Diocesan Family & Youth Conference. It is our sincere prayer that you will have a refreshing time in listening to the messages and classes of our speakers, sharing and listening to the thoughts and reflections of each other, and the presence of each other. We most especially trust that you will find this year s Family & Youth Conference, as an opportunity for spiritual reflection and meditation. This year we meditate upon the theme Sacramental Life based on the Gospel of St. John 3:5. Often we have a distorted view of the liturgical worship of the Church, and may even fail to invite the Grace we receive from the Sacrament. This may be due to the lacking in our liturgical attitude towards the life of the Church. The gleanings from the Sacred Tradition of the Church, which include Holy Scripture, and the experience of the saints, show that a Sacramental life offers not only a way to worship the Holy Trinity, but also offer a sense of healing to our lives. Since the past Family & Youth Conference, our Diocesan family has endured through much pain, trials, heartaches, directly or indirectly. We may even feel that God is ever so distant during these times. Yet, the Church invites us to Truth, Who we can fully experience in the Sacramental Life. The Truth that He is a God who not only heals, but also walks with us, and amongst us in our sufferings. May this Family & Youth Conference be an opportunity for introspection and reflection on your own lives. We pray that you will leave this Family & Youth Conference, experiencing the God Who heals, and walks amongst broken people, especially in the Sacramental Life of the Church. May the blessings and mercies of God Almighty be showered upon us. Yours in our Lord, Zachariah Nicholovos, Metropolitan Telephone (718) 470 9844 Fax (718) 470 9219 www.neamericandiocese.org NortheastAmericanDiocese@gmail.com 3

Chorus Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee: How great thou art! How great thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee: How great thou art! How great thou art! When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur, And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze: Chorus And when I think that God, his Son not sparing, Sent him to die, I scarce can take it in, Than on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. Chorus When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then *I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, My God, how great thou art! Showers of Blessing SONG 19 There shall be showers of blessing: This is the promise of love; There shall be seasons refreshing, Sent from the Savior above. Chorus Showers of blessing, Showers of blessing we need: Mercy drops round us are falling, But for the showers we plead. 338 There shall be showers of blessing; Send them upon us, O Lord; Grant to us now a refreshing, Come, and now honor Thy Word.

Chorus There shall be showers of blessing, If we but trust and obey; There shall be seasons refreshing, If we let God have His way. Chorus You Are My All in All SONG 20 You are my strength when I am weak You are the treasure that I seek You are my all in all Seeking You as a precious jewel Lord, to give up I d be a fool You are my all in all Chorus Jesus, Lamb of God Worthy is Your name Jesus, Lamb of God Worthy is Your name Taking my sin, my cross, my shame Rising again I bless Your name Your are my all in all When I fall down You pick me up When I am dry You fill my cup You are my all in all Chorus Jesus, Lamb of God Worthy is Your name Jesus, Lamb of God Worthy is Your name 239
