From Ken Back to School Back to Church! Ken s Korner What a phenomenal summer we have enjoyed in church. Every summer we see our folks traveling and vacationing and our attendances drop off significantly. Two things have been very different about the summer of 2013. Rain and attendance. Both have been "overflowing. Praise the Lord for both! As summer comes to an end and schools resumes in just a few days our lives will readjust to a normal pattern of life. With that we are making some extra ordinary preparations for Back to Church duties as well. Take a look at some of the upcoming events on our calendar and pray with us as we seek to reach out to our community with a renewed sense of excitement. Church Council. Our Church Council met a couple of weeks ago and made preliminary plans for the new church year and will meet again on Sunday, August 18 at 5:00 p.m. in the church dining room. Our plan is to meet once a month from September until April to continue communicating and planning together and making a tremendous effort of evangelism, discipleship, fellowship and worship. All church leaders and members are invited each month to share input into the planning process. Pre-school and Children s Choir Kickoff Wednesday night suppers resume on September 4 th. We are making an all-out effort to invite and enlist every child who has attended CSBC in any activity over the past two years to join our newly revised pre-school and children s ministry. That includes a wonderful music program that kicks off on September 4 th. We will be inviting prospective families to join us as our guest for supper, enroll their children in choir or the youth program and then attend our Bible Study (Outline Through the Bible) from 6:15 7:00 p.m. Church-Wide Picnic and Baptism at the Lake. Our annual picnic is set for Sunday, September 8 th in the afternoon following the morning service. We will use the Biggerstaff Christian Retreat facilities again this year. Following the lunch we will once again participate in a lakeside baptismal service. Following the baptism we will host our annual horseshoe and corn hole competitions. County Wide Crusade at Seneca High School Football Stadium. See details elsewhere! September 15-18! - Ken Reid, Pastor Sunday School Recognition and Kickoff.. We will recognize Sunday School workers in the morning service of Sunday, September 15 th. With our renewed emphasis on our community we will be encouraging all classes to maximize their efforts at outreach, fellowship and care. Let s make the Sunday School the front door of the church again! CrossWalk, Awana, Handbells and Youth Choir and Youth Program Kickoff. Sunday, September 22 nd, 5:30 pm. Once again we will be inviting and encouraging parents of children and youth to bring their families to our fellowship event on this evening, to look over the plans for Awana, Youth opportunities and our CrossWalk selection of classes for adults. Handbells will begin on this date for the year. (See Ray about Handbells). All this to say, WOW, this is going to be a fantastic year! I pray to see this revival breakout in every area of our church life. See you each and every time the doors are open. To God be the Glory! Amen!
