The Blood of Christ A Transcript of the Message Delivered by Bishop Jeremiah Reed on 1-11-04 There are all kinds of end signs: earthquakes, wars and rumors of wars. Jesus said that those were signs of the end. It is no time to look at other people. It s time to save yourself. According to the sixth chapter of Revelation, nobody is concerned about anybody else. Let s look at that briefly: Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: Revelation 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? Revelation 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; Revelation 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. Revelation 6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. Revelation 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; Revelation 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: Revelation 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come: and who shall be able to stand? That is the future and according to all Bible prophecies, the human family is rolling down to the end. The houses are destroyed. There are no houses. Did you notice that the kings and the great men are going to be running, too? You have lost your mind when you tell a mountain and a rock to fall on you. The judgment is so severe. God is in control of this universe and it s running its course. That whole sixth chapter is the wrath of God on the human family. I am going to talk about the blood of Christ in the Matthew 26:28. Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. God made a covenant with Israel in Exodus 24:8 and Israel lived under the dispensation of the law. Many things in the scripture were a symbol or a shadow of the body of Christ when he came on the scene. Exodus 24:8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words. That was the covenant to Israel. God has always been a covenant God. He set up the guidelines for us if we want to go to heaven when we die. That was Israel s covenant. Let s look at Zechariah 9:11. This is reaffirmation. Zechariah 9:11 As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water. That s for Israel. God was concerned about us who are Gentiles, also. So when Jesus Christ came on the scene, Jesus Christ came for one purpose and that was to die as a substitute for every individual that Adam cut off. Every time you have a funeral, or somebody dies, somebody says, Why did God do this? God did not do that. God told Adam in Genesis 2:17: Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. In Genesis 3:1, this is not a serpent. In the Hebrew, it means the shining one. So he was trying to outshine God and came on the scene and approached Adam s wife. She thought he was asking for information, but he was just trying to find out her position. Here God has said this. The Bible said Eve was deceived. So Adam didn t do his job of teaching her what God had told him. So in Genesis 3:6, the devil affected her mind, she looked at the tree that God said don t eat of: Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, Number one. Number two: Genesis 3:6 and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat. Chapter 2:16. This is where God told him. Genesis 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: The Blood of Christ, 1-11-04 2
Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. That s why we have morticians and graveyards. God didn t have anything to do with that because we all were in Adam. Look at Romans 5:12. Roman 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man Not the woman. The devil approached the one who was ignorant. God said to the man! Roman 5:12 by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; That means that sin piggybacked the death over here. If you lose faith in God, you don t have anything else. It s over. He s the transcendent God and nobody s on his level. Let s get back to this blood in Matthew 26:28. God did not have to do anything because Adam gave his authority over this planet to the devil, but here came the love of God. Jesus said Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, The word testament means the new will and a contract. The word covenant means a contract; testament means a covenant and a will. And here is the written will to let us know what we will receive in reference to this. Why does he say: Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Remission means freedom (it s talking about freedom from sin), pardon, delivered, forgiveness, and liberty. That s all wrapped up in there. If you go back to the prescription, he says, Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for the pardon. The blood represents the life of a person. Let me prove that in Leviticus 17:11. Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: So the blood speaks for a human s life. Leviticus 17:11 and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement The Blood of Christ, 1-11-04 3
If you break that into three syllables, it s at-one-ment. Leviticus 17:11 for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Jesus said: Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Look at John 3:14. John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That s talking about the cross there. John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him It says him, not them. John 3:15 should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, God made a way for us to come back into his presence. John 3:16 that whosoever Regardless of race, creed, or color. The world is anywhere people are. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him That s singular. Jesus Only. We have never seen God, but God loved us. Adam took us out and we have to come back in through the Son because his death was a substitute for us. John 3:16 should not perish, I would not be in anybody s church if I wasn t looking for a Bible way to get out of the mess I am in because everybody dies. John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him The whole world! Through Jesus Only! We have not seen God. He is a Spirit. John 3:17 but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. It says only. Look at Luke 24:45. Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. He didn t leave it for them to interpret. He opened up their psyche, their intellect, to comprehend and understand scripture. This Bible speaks for the whole world. Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Luke 24:48 And ye are witnesses of these things. Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Luke 24:50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. Luke 24:51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. He opened their understanding. In other words, he said, Now, listen brothers, I m the one who died and rose for this. Don t put anybody between me and you. It s idolatry! It s got to be preached in my name! I died for it! Nobody else was fit to die for you. I got up out of the grave for you! He made it plain that repentance and remittance of sins should be preached in the name of Jesus, and Jesus Only! Go back to Matthew 26:28. Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood Mine! Matthew 26:28 of the new testament, Of the new covenant. I m going to show you what this contract means in a minute. Go back to Luke 24. He opened their understanding and made a statement. After he made that statement, he showed us where the blood was. The blood is in verse number 47. Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins There s the blood. Luke 24:47 should be preached in his name Now he has the blood incorporated in the name and you cannot take the name out of the blood. He wrapped it up. Acts 2:36. Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. They say that we Jesus Only people made Jesus everything, but we got here too late. The Bible was written over two thousand years ago. Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. In Greek, Lord means supremacy, supreme in authority, respectful, mister, Sir, God, and master. This is the first thing Israel had to understand because they rejected Jesus. Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, That he was both Lord and Christ. Acts 2:37 they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, There it is right there. The blood has to be active! In Exodus 24, they sprinkled the blood on everybody, which was a type of this. God set up this principle before we got here. He set up a principle worldwide so we are people of faith. Acts 2:38 Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Why did Peter speak? Matthew 16:15 Matthew 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Which is the omnipresent, invisible Spirit; it s not your interpretation. Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock Or foundation, Christ, the Son of God Matthew 16:18 I will build my church; That s Jesus Only, children.
