My Dear Sisters in the Savannah Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, Congratulations on your service to the Church and society as you celebrate your Annual Convention with the theme: Called to Witness: Wise, Courageous, & Loving Leaders. In this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, we see many ways to extend mercy to those in our family, parish, and community and show the strength of our membership through our new project, A Million Works of Mercy. We appreciate the service of Shirley Towle as Province Director and women from Georgia serving on our commissions and committees: Cynthia Simien, Olga Dickieson, Joyce Piersanti and Alison Mimms. The outpouring of support for our beloved NCCW has been so gratifying. Your ongoing financial support and year end gifts will enable us to pay off our old debts by June. Council is growing! We are looking at ways to expand our reach to what I call women in various ages and stages of life. We have updated our website and adopted a new logo to be revealed later this spring. The commissions are working on programs including one day retreats, a purse club for women seeking to enter religious life, starting councils for high school youth, and education on human trafficking and immigration. Plans are underway for the 2016 Convention in Indianapolis with the theme: Catholic Women: Instruments of Mercy. Mark your calendars for Sept. 7-10 and join us for this always uplifting gathering of council women. Thank you for inviting me to spend this special time with you. May God bless the work of our hands in His name. NCCW President
