Sacred Heart Parish Office of Religious Education Religion classes for children from 3 years old through 8 th grade Dear Parents and Guardians, Sacred Heart Church is truly a family rich in relationships that matter most. In our Religious Education Program, we can grow, worship, learn, and reach out to each other in what is most important: the faith formation of our children! Faith begins in the home, and the catechists who work in our program are committed to helping our parent parishioners form their young children into the ways of Christ. If your children do not attend a Catholic school, we invite you to register them in our parish Religious Education Program. In order to sufficiently know their faith, children should complete eight years in a religious education program before moving into our high school Confirmation program. Children receive First Penance and Eucharist during 2 nd grade after two years of preparation. Though not required, pre-k and kindergarten classes are a terrific way for young children to begin learning about God and His love for us! We encourage you to read the materials contained in this packet and to seriously consider completing the registration forms for your children to attend Sacred Heart s Religious Education Program in 2018-2019: Please try to register early; it helps us to make preparations for next year. (Ordering books and materials, recruiting and training volunteers, etc.) There is a lower fee if registrations are received before June 30, 2018. Doing the best that we can to help our families, all fees have remained the same for next year! Much assistance is needed to create an excellent catechesis program. We are blessed to have enthusiastic volunteers who are dedicated to sharing their faith. Would you consider ministering to our children in religious education as a catechist or classroom assistant? Catechists are charged no fee for their children, and other volunteers receive a discounted fee. Working with children in religious education is extremely rewarding; you will receive much more than you give! (We offer a gathering at the end of August to go over the methods of teaching in our program.) If you feel uncertain about whether you feel capable enough to be a children s catechist, please give a call or send an email to Sister Cecilia. Give us the joy of ministering to you and your children, and together we will help your children know of God s love. We are eager to hear from you and excited to share the marvelous way that God can work through us. Whether your children are attending the program for the first time or returning, we say... God bless you and your family, Welcome! S. Cecilia Cyford, SSJ Director of Religious Education
Sacred Heart Religious Education: 2018 2019 Fees Thank you for helping to make our religious instruction program possible! Catechists and other adult volunteers with children in the program receive significant fee discounts. (See the chart below.) To qualify for this discount, volunteers are expected to provide regular weekly service during the school year.
