What is Kundalini or Gtummo? Kundalini is an active method to clear the energy channel along your spine. The myth says there is a firey serpent coiled at the base of your spine and it can move upward, releasing your energy and bringing good health and even psychic powers. More important it can help you concentrate on the empty state of your true mind. Gtummo is what kundalini is called in Tibet. What does it involve? Meditators have found that our energy follows our attention. So in Kundalini you focus on your navel area to gather energy, and then higher up to encourage it to flow upwards. It will stimulate a response from your brain. Is it safe? Yes, when you prepare yourself. You should have a clear conscience, and a calm mood. And it is useful to have done good deeds recently. So if you feel hungry or sexy, go indulge now and come back to this exercise in 30 minutes. It is not that food or sex is bad, but the craving will be distracting. If you are angry about some insult, state you are willing to forgive the matter. Just let it go now. If you are tempted by power or money or fame, laugh and forgive yourself and let those go too. You are hunting bigger game. Self Awareness. Awaken a feeling of peace and good humour, and an intention to help. Rub your heart area gently and feel compassion towards yourself and other people. This will also earn you merit and help from angels and divine beings. Calming Exercise - Following the Breath: Breathe in and out naturally. Just watch your breathing and relax and let go of other things. Let thoughts come and go, but return to the breath. Page 3
Feels good, right? You can simply follow this breath meditation through to advanced self enlightenment, in due time, it is that easy and powerful a method, or you can try kundalini now. Kundalini Method 1. Keep breathing gently. Imagine there is a hollow tube running down from the top of your head to your tailbone. Along the way down there are nerve clusters rather twisted and tangled up. Say softly release, release it and imagine that tailbone area untangling. Relaxing, isn t it? Move up to your sexual area and again say release, release it. You can make smoothing motions with your fingers if you like. Move up to your solar plexus and again say release, release it. Do the heart area, throat, forehead and top of your head as well. 2. Now return in your imagination to your solar plexus and imagine a circle floating there. Imagine light flowing into this from all over your body, even your arms and legs and breath. Take your time. It feels pleasant and tingling and warm. Shrink the circle to the size of a penny. The light is bright silver now, and the energy is getting quite warm. Shrink it to a light, floating spark. 3. Move your attention up to your heart and say rising up now. The energy will drift up from your belly. Keep moving up higher, to the throat, and forehead and crown of the head saying rising now. Let the silver spark follow at its own speed. 4. Now at the top of your head imagine a dripping honeycomb just filled with sweet oozing goodness. Imagine sweet drops warmed by the energy and dripping down your spine, and filling you with a wonderful sensation. Say dripping, dripping honey. Page 4
5. Ask your body to keep repeating this while you watch your breath for a few minutes. And return to the breathing exercise and don t think about kundalini at all. Now say Softly Kundalini - off. Done. Attuning You can now say I wish to be attuned to Softly Kundalini reiki, and when I say Softly Kundalini, my body will perform these exercises by itself, cleaning and energizing my channels. Extra Help You can chant some general purpose words such as om mani padme hum and imagine a room full of protective white light all around you before you begin. You can call upon your favorite god or goddess or angel to watch over you and help you clear your channels in a way that is good for you. You can get into gentle rapport with the magical elements of air, water, fire and earth and spirit. You can bless the directions. You can eat something when it is all finished, to ground yourself. Watch Out For You can get feelings of bliss and warmth and flashes of psychic perception such as odd lights and sounds during the exercise. This is normal, don t worry about it, but don t pursue it either. Your intuition is better working the way it works in reiki, quietly in the background, where you can focus on the person you are helping. You may see everything as brighter and clearer than before and feel very hungry, yet have loads of energy. This is normal. Eat something! You may hear snatches of conversations when falling asleep. It s just your psychic perception increasing when you are relaxed. Page 5
How to heal with this attunement Just say aloud (name of system) once and let the energy flow through your hands and heal as you usually do. How to take down this attunement Just say aloud I am now accepting the attunement to (name of system) from (name of teacher) in a way that is good for my health and spirit. So be it. And relax for a few minutes. You may sense energy tingling in your hands or warmth, or if you close your eyes and let your mind drift away, you may see unusual pictures. It really doesn t matter. It works even if nothing is sensed at all. How to give this attunement Just say aloud I now attune (name of student) to the energies of (name of system) in a way that is good for both of us, in health and spirit. So be it. Or you can put the attunement in a chi ball of imagined energy and let the student pull it down when convenient.
