Please pray for Father while he enjoys some much needed rest and relaxation. Environmental Stewardship Something as small as refusing a straw at a restaurant is a great place to begin your action plan to reduce plastic pollution. When we know that 500 million plastic straws are used EVERY DAY in America; enough to circle the Earth twice it is time to take this awareness and make a small step toward helping our planet. Vocations: We Are Called He had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. Please pray for those called to be shepherds. If you feel called to priesthood, deaconate or consecrated life, talk to Fr. Tom or Fr. Doug Lucia at 315 3862543, dlucia@rcdony.org or Cathy Russell, Diocesan Vocation Coordinator at 3153932920 ext. 1450, or email: crussell@rcdony.org See us also on Facebook or at www.myvocation.net Holy Family School 12 Homestead Park, Malone, NY For more information, call the school at 5184834443 or email Principal, Mrs. Marianne Jadlos at: hfsprincipal@hfsmalone.org. visit our new and improved website at: hfsmalone.org for all the latest HFS news. July 22: 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time Jer 23:16, Eph 2:1318, Mk 6:3034 In today s Gospel, Jesus takes the apostles, who are in need of rest, on retreat: to come away by themselves and rest for awhile. Jesus is shepherding them, forming them, so that one day they will be shepherds to the people coming after them. But then he sees the crowds, who are like sheep without a shepherd and begins to teach them as well. Jesus shows us what to do and how to follow. Everyone is called to follow him, to participate in the mission of the Church. Some as apostles. Some as teachers. Some to provide a listening ear or a comforting touch. How are you called to follow? How are you called to serve? Donations being accepted... CWTR is accepting donations for repainting of the Stations of the Cross. Three of them are complete and look very nice. We are paying $200 per station; much cheaper than a restoration company fee. Also, a structure is being created to house St. Bridget s church bell. The cost is $3,500 plus $300 for the cement pad. If you are interested in making a donation, please place it in an envelope marked Church Bell. Thank you so much for your generosity. Fr. Tom Kornmeyer Altar Rosary Society CCBC and CWTR Picnic The Picnic will be held Monday, August 6th at 4:00PM at the Chateaugay Rec Park on Route 374 South. We hope many members will come and enjoy the gathering. Please bring a guest, possibly a future member. Cold cuts, salads, drinks and dessert will be served. It's not that Christianity has been left tried and found wanting. It's been left untried because it's been found effective, but too difficult. G.K. Chesterton.

We hear that the cross of Jesus has broken down the wall of enmity which divided Jews and Gentiles. At the very center of Christianity is the conviction that the death of Jesus on the cross represented God's victory over all the dark forces that divide us. What looked like ultimate defeat was in fact God's triumph over the power of division. Bishop Robert Barron Vacation Bible School is THIS Week!!! July 2327, 2018. Be sure to register! YES! It is to become like Jesus according to their state of life and to participate in the building of the Church. My vocation is love. How do we do God s will? In the Our Father we say: Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. How is God s will done in heaven? The Angels and Saints give praise to God constantly no matter what they are doing. Whether we are sweeping the floor, or saving a life, every act can be given to God in praise. Everything we do can be a prayer. As Mother Teresa taught us: We can do no great things, but we can do small things with great love. There is a lot to be said about the old saying: offer it up. What can we give God today? What is virtue? It is a good habit that helps us do good and avoid evil. As with any habit, it takes practice and time. Why should we pray? We are created with a longing for God. We pray to adore God and praise him for his goodness, to seek his forgiveness for sin, to thank him for our blessings, and to seek his assistance. If we love God, it is only reasonable to talk to him often and always. A prayer can be in any form as long as we are trying to communicate with God who loves us dearly. Why did God create us? God created us to know, love and serve him in this life and to be happy with Him in heaven for all eternity.
