December 3, 2017 MESSAGE FROM THE RECTOR C atholic spiritual writer, Matthew Kelly, through his books (Rediscover Catholicism & Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic & Rediscover Jesus) has offered us three ways of engaging Jesus Christ and his kingdom. He challenges us to try ONE of these three ways for the year ahead: 1) read Scripture from one of the four Gospels 10 minutes a day every day for a year 2) receive the sacrament of confession once a month or so, every month for a year. 3) start a Mass Journal every Sunday for a year/ write down one thing at that Mass that will help you to be spiritually motivated and to be close to the Lord. Now for Advent, Matthew and his team have put together an internet based resource for each of us to receive in our email inbox, a great resource item each day of Advent. The site to check out is www.bestadventever.com I have signed up for this and I look forward to this helpful resource. Dynamic Catholic will respect your privacy and will not share your name with other groups. The Catholic resources internet streaming service, Formed.org, is offering a wonderful Advent resource that you can download. It is a personal Advent journal called, Watching in Hope. This Journal will provide everything needed to fully prepare yourself for the upcoming Advent Sunday Mass: the Scripture Readings, a Lectio Divina Exercise, and even Daily Reflections. Blessing of an Advent Wreath for the home D uring the Advent season families are encouraged to spend time together preparing for the approaching celebration of the birth of Christ. An Advent wreath can be a great focal point for family prayers and holiday celebrations. The Blessing of the Advent wreath can be a great focal point for family prayers and holiday celebrations. The Blessing of the Advent wreath takes place on the First Sunday of Advent. Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord. All: Who made heaven and earth. Leader: Let us pray. O God, by whose Word all things are sanctified, pour forth Your blessing upon this wreath and grant that we who use it may prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ and may receive from You abundant graces. We ask this through Christ our Lord. All: Amen. The first candle on the wreath is lit. Prayer for the first week: Leader: May this light remind us of Jesus who is the true light of the world. Let s call upon him whose coming we prepare for and await, for he is: All: God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God. Reading: Mt. 24:37-44 Sign up free of charge using the subscription that the Cathedral provides for registered parishioners. Go to www.formed.org and use the parish code 7G4Q97. December 3, 2017 M I N I S T E R I O H I S P A N O Misa en Español: Domingos a las 6:30 pm Confesiones en Español: Mier, Jue y Vier 11:45 am y 4:45 pm. Rosario en Español: Domingos a las 6:05 pm. Escríbenos a nuestro email: comunidadhispanahrc@gmail.com "Vigilad..., velad" (Mc 13, 35. 37). (Is 63, 19).
