Call to Prayer Marriage Intentions for 2016 January 1 Mary, Mother of God, we place our country in your hands. Through your intercession, may our religious freedoms be protected. January 8 In this new year, may we recommit ourselves to treating each person with respect and love. January 15 (National Religious Freedom Day) May we always be free to serve Christ by serving the poor and vulnerable. January 22 May participants witness at the March for Life & similar events inspire hope, healing & the assurance that every life is worth living. January 29 May engaged couples prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage with hearts open to the Holy Spirit. February 5 May every mother & father receive their child as a gift and sign of God s love. February 12 May all husbands and wives renew their commitment to love in good times and in bad. February 19 May our government officials protect the religious freedom of all with courage and integrity. February 26 May society recognize and uphold the importance of mothers and fathers for children. March 4 May we live out Christ s words in today s Gospel calling us to love your neighbor as yourself. March 11 We pray for an end to domestic violence & all forms of abuse.

March 18 (St. Joseph, husband of Mary) For all husbands, may they imitate St. Joseph, Mary s spouse. May 20 (Trinity Sunday) May the true understanding of marriage as between one man and one woman be restored to our culture. May 27 May those approaching the end of life receive care that protects & respects their lives.

June 10 We pray through the intercession of the Blessed Mother that God will provide for the needs of all expectant parents. June 17 (Father s Day) May all men embrace and live out their fatherhood with courage and faith. June 24 (Birth of St. John the Baptist) May we recall the ministry of St. John the Baptist and the promises of our own baptism. July 1 (St. Junipero Serra) Through the intercession of St. Junipero Serra, may we continue to enjoy the freedom to share the gospel with all. July 8 May our daily words & actions reflect & witness to the respect due to each person and the gift of his or her life. July 15 May the intercession of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel strengthen us to persist in our prayers for religious freedom. July 22 (St. Mary Magdalene) May all women who seek holiness draw close to St. Mary Magdalene. July 29 May those in prison and their families know the healing power of forgiveness. August 5 May every married couple practice mercy with one another.

August 12 (St. Jane de Chantal) Through the intercession of St. Jane de Chantal, may we find true freedom in giving ourselves wholly to God. August 19 May all persons with disabilities be welcomed, loved & respected. August 26 (St. Augustine & St. Monica) May every parent who prays for a wayward child have confidence in God s timing. September 2 May the death penalty in the United States come to an end. September 9 May the mercy of the Lord Jesus direct our hearts and all nations. September 16 May we recall Christ s sacrifice on the Cross and be given strength to bear our burdens. September 23 (St. Padre Pio) May the freedom of conscience of all people of faith be upheld. September 30 May we, with the guidance and protection of our guardian angels, treat each person with dignity. October 7 (Our Lady of the Rosary) May we deepen our relationship with Mary by praying the Rosary, learning from her joyful response to God. October 14 (St. Margaret Mary) May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be honored in every home. October 21 May Christ s merciful love move us to share in word & action the joyful truth that every life is worth living.

October 28 (SS Simon and Jude) May we, through the intercession of Ss. Simon & Jude, turn to the Lord in times of need. November 4 May those in our country who are suffering discrimination because of their faith receive the just protection of the law. November 11 May young people overcome fear in order to give their lives in love. November 18 (Christ the King) May we bear witness to Christ, our King, in word and in deed. November 25 In preparation for Advent, may we joyfully await the birth of our Savior and grow closer to him during this season. December 2 May all grandparents be honored and appreciated as the memory of the family. December 9 (St. Juan Diego) We ask through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe that all unborn children be welcomed, cherished & protected. December 16 May all followers of Jesus Christ recognize their responsibility to foster peace on earth through their witness. December 23 (Christmas) May families experience peace and joy as they celebrate the Birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
