Tribulation, Reward & Celebration The End Wk. 2 of 5 Pastor Chuck Aruta New Beginnings Church 2 Tim. 3:1-5 (NIV) But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. [2] People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, [3] without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, [4] treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-- [5] having a form of godliness but denying its power Matthew 24:36-44 (NIV) "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 1 Thes. 5:9-10 (NIV) For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. [10] He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 1) The 7 Year Tribulation= Suffering, distress, affliction. 2 Thes. 2:9-10 (NLT) This evil man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. [10] He will use every kind of wicked deception to fool those who are on their way to destruction because they refuse to believe the truth that would save them. Daniel 9:27 (NLT) He will make a treaty with the people for a period of one set of seven, but after half this time, he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. Then as a climax to all his terrible deeds, he will set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration, until the end that has been decreed is poured out on this defiler." Rev. 4:1 (NLT) Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me with the sound of a mighty trumpet blast. The voice said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after these things." 2 Thes. 2:1-10 (NLT) And now, brothers and sisters, let us tell you about the coming again of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered together to meet him. [2] Please don't be so easily shaken and troubled by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Even if they claim to have had a vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us, don't believe them. [3] Don't be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed the one who brings destruction. [4] He will exalt himself and defy every god there is and tear down every object of adoration and worship. He will position himself in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God. [5] Don't you remember that I told you this when I was with you? [6] And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes. [7] For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way. [8] Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will consume with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. [9] This evil man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. [10] He will use every kind of wicked deception to fool those who are on their way to destruction because they refuse to believe the truth that would save them. Joel 2:1-2 (NLT) Blow the trumpet in Jerusalem! Sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let everyone tremble in fear because the day of the Lord is upon us. [2] It is a day of darkness and gloom, a day of thick clouds and deep blackness. Suddenly, like dawn spreading across the mountains, a mighty army appears! How great and powerful they are! The likes of them have not been seen before and never will be seen again. Zeph. 1:14-15 (NLT) "That terrible day of the Lord is near. Swiftly it comes a day when strong men will cry bitterly. [15] It is a day when the Lord's anger will be poured out. It is a day of terrible distress and anguish, a day of ruin and desolation, a day of darkness and gloom, of clouds, blackness, A) Seven Seal Judgments. Matthew 24:22 (NIV) If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive 1
B) Seven Trumpet Judgments. Rev. 9:7-11 (NIV) The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces. [8] Their hair was like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth. [9] They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. [10] They had tails and stings like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months. [11] They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss Rev. 9:5-6 (NIV) They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man. [6] During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them. Rev. 16:5-7 (NIV) Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: "You are just in these judgments, you who are and who were, the Holy One, because you have so judged; [6] for they have shed the blood of your saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve." [7] And I heard the altar respond: "Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments." Rev. 9:20-21 (NLT) But the people who did not die in these plagues still refused to turn from their evil deeds. They continued to worship demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood idols that neither see nor hear nor walk! [21] And they did not repent of their murders or their witchcraft or their immorality or their thefts. C) Seven Bowl Judgments Rev. 16:9 (NIV) They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him. Rev. 16:10-11 (NIV) Men gnawed their tongues in agony [11] and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done. Rev. 16:21 (NIV) From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible. Rev. 14:9-11 (NIV) A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: "If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, [10] he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. [11] And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name." Deut. 4:30-31 (NLT) "When those bitter days have come upon you far in the future, you will finally return to the Lord your God and listen to what he tells you. [31] For the Lord your God is merciful he will not abandon you or destroy you or forget the solemn covenant he made with your ancestors. Jeremiah 30:7 (NLT) In all history there has never been such a time of terror. It will be a time of trouble for my people Israel. Yet in the end, they will be saved! Amos 5:18-20 (NLT) How terrible it will be for you who say, "If only the day of the Lord were here! For then the Lord would rescue us from all our enemies." But you have no idea what you are wishing for. That day will not bring light and prosperity, but darkness and disaster. [19] In that day you will be like a man who runs from a lion only to meet a bear. After escaping the bear, he leans his hand against a wall in his house and is bitten by a snake. [20] Yes, the day of the Lord will be a dark and hopeless day, without a ray of joy or hope. 2) Reward- Judgment seat of Christ- BEMA Matthew 16:27 (NIV) For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. Romans 8:1 (NLT) So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. Ephes. 2:8-9 (NIV) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- [9] not by works, so that no one can boast. 2
2 Cor. 5:10 (NIV) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 1 Cor. 3:13-15 (NLT) But there is going to come a time of testing at the judgment day to see what kind of work each builder has done. Everyone's work will be put through the fire to see whether or not it keeps its value. [14] If the work survives the fire, that builder will receive a reward. [15] But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builders themselves will be saved, but like someone escaping through a wall of flames. Matthew 25:23+40 (NIV) "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' [40] "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' 1) Victors Crown- Those who seek to grow in God! 1 Cor. 9:25-27 (NIV) Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. [26] Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. [27] No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. 2) Crown of Rejoicing- Soul Winners Crown! 1 Thes. 2:19-20 (NKJV) For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? [20] For you are our glory and joy. 3) Crown of Righteousness- Those Who Long For Heaven. 2 Tim. 4:8 (NIV) Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 4) Crown of Life- Those who endure trials, temptation, martyrdom. James 1:12 (NIV) Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. Rev. 2:10 (NIV) Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. 5) Crown of Glory- The Sheppard s Crown. 1 Peter 5:2-4 (NKJV) Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; [3] nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; [4] and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. 3) Celebration- Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Matthew 26:29 (NIV) I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom." Rev. 19:7-9 (NIV) Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. [8] Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.) [9] Then the angel said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!' " And he added, "These are the true words of God." 2 Cor. 11:2 (NIV) I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. Ephes. 5:22-27 (NIV) Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. [23] For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. [24] Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. [25] Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her [26] to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with 3
water through the word, [27] and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 1 Peter 1:18-19 (NLT) For you know that God paid a ransom to save you And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. [19] He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ Matthew 26:29 (NLT) Mark my words I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new with you in my Father's Kingdom." Isaiah 61:10 (NLT) I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom in his wedding suit or a bride with her jewels. John 14:1-3 (NKJV) "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. [2] In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. Matthew 24:36 (NLT) "However, no one knows the day or the hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. John 3:29-36 (NLT) The bride will go where the bridegroom is. A bridegroom's friend rejoices with him. I am the bridegroom's friend, and I am filled with joy at his success. [30] He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. [31] "He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. I am of the earth, and my understanding is limited to the things of earth, but he has come from heaven. [32] He tells what he has seen and heard, but how few believe what he tells them! [33] Those who believe him discover that God is true. [34] For he is sent by God. He speaks God's words, for God's Spirit is upon him without measure or limit. [35] The Father loves his Son, and he has given him authority over everything. [36] And all who believe in God's Son have eternal life. Those who don't obey the Son will never experience eternal life, but the wrath of God remains upon them." Ephes. 1:7 (NLT) He is so rich in kindness that he purchased our freedom through the blood of his Son, and our sins are forgiven. Romans 5:9 (NLT) And since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's judgment. 4
