Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty VU 315

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee; holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee, casting down their golden crowns around a glassy sea; cherubim and seraphim fall down before thee, which wert and art, and evermore

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee, though the eye made blind by sin thy glory may not see, only thou art holy; there is none beside thee, perfect in power, in love, and purity!

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God almighty! All thy works shall praise thy name in earth and sky and sea; holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

God is a Parent who always loves us. Praise to our God for-ev-er! God sent Jesus to be our Savior. Praise to our God for-ev-er! God s Spirit moves throughout our world, and gives us new life. Praise to our God for-ev-er! 7

Let us worship God: Parent, Savior, and life-giving Spirit. Praise to our God for-ev-er! 8

9

Let us again listen to the silence of this sacred space. A space made ready for us by willing hands. 10

11

May we give thanks for all the silences in our lives: the silence of sunrise, the silence of midst on the lake, the silence at the end of a story, the silence between notes of music, the silence between us here 12

13

We Are One VU 402 14

We are one as we come, as we come, joyful to be here, in the praise on our lips there s a sense that God is near. 15

We are one as we share, as we share brokenness and fear, in the touch of a hand there s a sense that God is here. 16

We are one as we care, as we heal, we are healed; and we share warmth in God s embrace as we pray together in this place. 17

We are one as we feast, as we feast, peace becomes the sign; in the bread and the wine there s a sense of love divine. 18

We are one as we come, as we feed, we are fed; and we feel God s refreshing grace as we meet at table in this place. 19

We are one as we hear, as we hear, heart and hand unite; in the word we receive there s a sense that God is light. 20

We are one as we leave, as we love, we are loved; and we seek justice in God s ways as we move together from this place. 21

God of many names, we experience you in many ways: Creator, Mother, Shepherd, Father, Lord, Teacher, Friend, Sustainer. In all these ways you come to us, and many more besides. We come this day to honour you in your many forms, and to worship you in ways that speak to our hearts. Amen. 22

23

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as in heaven. 24

Give us today our daily bread.forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil 25

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever. 26

27

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Master sitting on a throne high, exalted! and the train of his robes filled the Temple. Angelseraphs hovered above him, each with six wings. 28

With two wings they covered their faces, with two their feet, and with two they flew. And they called back and forth one to the other, Holy, Holy, Holy is GOD-of-the-Angel- Armies. His bright glory fills the whole earth. 29

The foundations trembled at the sound of the angel voices, and then the whole house filled with smoke. I said, Doom! It s Doomsday! I m as good as dead! 30

Every word I ve ever spoken is tainted blasphemous even! And the people I live with talk the same way, using words that corrupt and desecrate. And here I ve looked God in the face! 31

The King! GOD-of-the-Angel- Armies! Then one of the angel-seraphs flew to me. He held a live coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. He touched my mouth with the coal and said, 32

Look. This coal has touched your lips. Gone your guilt, your sins wiped out. 33

And then I heard the voice of the Master: Whom shall I send? Who will go for us? I spoke up, I ll go. Send me! He said, Go and tell this people 34

35

36

37

Praise God from whom all blessings flow, Praise God all creatures high and low, Give thanks to God in love made known, Creator, Word and Spirit, One. 38

These gifts we bring, loving God, that you might bless them and use them to change our world into a place of hope and healing. May it be so. 39

I, the Lord of Sea and Sky VU 509 40

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in deepest sin my hand will save 41

I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send? 42

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. 43

I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people s pain, I have wept for love of them; they turn away. 44

I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone. I will speak my word to them. Whom shall I send? 45

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. 46

I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame, I will set a feast for them; my hand will save. 47

Finest bread I will provide till their hears be satisfied. I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send? 48

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart. 49

We have come together to share our deepest concerns, speaking and singing words of inspiration and hope. We have committed ourselves to do what we can to ease the burdens of those who suffer, to stand for decency and compassion. 50

We have pledged to work for a more wholesome environment for us and for all the generations that will follow. But these are just words. The hymns we sing are just songs. 51

All our reflections are just idle thoughts, until we convert them all into loving and responsible action throughout the week, then and only then will this morning become what we want it to be -- a time of worship. May it be so! 52
