BRENT LAMBERT, Founder and CEO In Luke 2, we find the story of an old man named Simeon who waited day after day for the coming of Messiah, the One who would set his people free. One day, Simeon was told by the Spirit that the day he had been waiting for had come. As Simeon hurried toward the Temple, he was no doubt listening for the rumble of chariot wheels. Certainly there would be a great army that would march into Jerusalem, led by Messiah who would liberate Israel from the oppression of Rome. Simeon listened. He watched. He waited. But there were no chariots, there was no army. Instead, there was just a peasant couple who had come to dedicate their 8-day-old child. Simeon had a choice to make right then. He could have said, You re kidding me; this is what I ve waited decades for - a teenage girl, a poor carpenter, and a tiny baby? But he didn t. We are told he took the Child in his hands and blessed the Father for making known His salvation, His perfect gift to mankind. Often, we pray for and focus on a specific person or event to come our way, to solve our problem, to set us free. But more often than not, what God sends isn t at all what we expect. We look for one thing and God sends another. At that moment, like Simeon, we have a choice to make. We can either say, What s the use of praying, God didn t answer my prayer? or we can say, I don t understand this, Lord, but I bless You and trust that somehow what You ve brought to me today is going to be what s best. In Honor of, Dr. Debe E. Williams Please pray for all of us at Birth Choice to be more like Simeon; to trust our God more with His answers to our prayers. Pray we would never miss what He has for us even when it looks nothing like we expected. Remember, He wrapped the answer to mankind s greatest need in swaddling clothes. Merry Christmas! Sanctity of LIFE Sunday, January 20, 2013 January 22, 2013 will mark the 40th anniversary of the legalization of abortion in our country. Since that time more than 54,000,000 babies have died from abortion. Today, abortion is still the leading cause of death in the United States and around the world. Birth Choice has been defending the sanctity of human life since 1989 and we are committed to continue to stand in the gap for God s unborn children. Will you stand with us? We have speakers available who can share with your church congregation, Sunday school class, or missions group regarding the abortion issue and the Birth Choice ministry. We will also have bulletin inserts available along with a powerful 3 1/2 minute DVD on the miracle of life. If your church is interested, please contact us about any of these powerful tools which will challenge God s people to Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked. Psalm 83:3,4 RICK SANTORUM, Guest Speaker at the 2013 Banquet SAVE THE DATE - April 11, 2013! MARK YOUR CALENDARS TODAY. CHRIS VETETO Clinic Director, Jackson Recently, the pro-life community lost a powerful voice for the unborn. The Presbyterians Pro-Life website, PPL. org said this: The Rev. Benjamin E. Sheldon, President Emeritus of Presbyterians Pro-Life went home to be with his Creator and Savior on Tuesday, September 18, 2012. He was 83. We are saddened by the loss of a dear friend and a tireless voice on behalf of the unborn. As we approach the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade on January 22, 2013, I would like to share a powerful article written by this champion for life. REFLECTION by Rev. Ben Sheldon God is just. Inscribed around the inside of the Jefferson Memorial in God is just. Washington, DC, are the immortal words of Thomas Jefferson: I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just. If the deist, Jefferson, knew in the depths of his being that God is just, how much more ought we Christians to reflect on this profound truth? WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! The justice of God, like his holiness and his purity, encourages us to seek justice for all people. It is the evil deeds and wrong, selfish attitudes of our modern society that have led to the cavalier acceptance of abortion and euthanasia. But, as Jefferson also said, his justice will not sleep forever. God is calling us today to seek justice, to encourage the oppressed, and to defend His justice will not sleep forever. the orphans and widows of our society. It is a noble calling! It is one which every true believer, every God-fearing man and woman, should heed with no hesitation and no reluctance. To follow the God of justice and truth is to stand unequivocally for the right to life of everyone, especially the unborn, the physically disabled, and the terminally ill. God s word through the prophet Isaiah is as relevant in today s 21st century world as it was in Isaiah s 8th century BC world. May God s grace help us to defend the What if just 4 hours of your time each week could make a difference between life and death for a child? Would you be willing to make the sacrifice? Our volunteer client advocates and nurses are making that difference every day at Birth Choice but they need help; your help. We are experiencing a critical shortage of volunteers at this time. If God is speaking to you about becoming a part of a ministry that is making an eternal difference, we hope you will join us at our next volunteer training in February. Just contact our office today for an application! VOLUNTEER CLIENT ADVOCATE TRAINING DATES FOR FEBRUARY 2013 For our Jackson and Gibson County Offices: February 5th, 7th, 12th, 14th, 19th, 21st, 26th, 28th Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. It is very important for you to attend all 8 sessions of the seminar. unborn s right to life as well as that of the already born. Isaiah 1:17, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow s cause. OUR NEEDS! You have not because you ask not. Over the years, God s people have stepped forward and graciously given their money, material, and their services to the Birth Choice ministry. From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank those of you who have given you know who you are, and so does God. The following are current needs of the ministry: It has been years since our office has had a fresh, updated look; it s definitely time for a facelift! We could use several people who have some experience painting to help us make our reception area look bright and appealing to our younger clientele. We will supply the paint if you can supply experienced helping hands! We also need new wall décor in the reception area as well as new curtains and lamps. Three of our four counseling rooms have, to put it bluntly, furniture that looks like it belonged to someone s grandmother. Actually, it may have as it was donated to us years ago! The average age of our clients is between 18 and 24 and we would love to get 3 loveseats and 3 chairs that are more in style with their taste than their grandma s. If any of God s people can help with one or more of these needs, please just earmark your donations with the word facelift. Thank you in advance for helping us to honor those women whom God sends to us by providing a warm and inviting environment for them. 4

Gibson County location KELLY WALL Clinic Director, Gibson County Our volunteers, staff, and board of directors make up one big family here at Birth Choice. And just like all families, we share in one another s joy and pain. Each of us have our own personal struggles just like you and your family. Sometimes we have problems with our children, spouses, jobs, finances, or health; the list goes on and on... While God has called us to minister to the women and families of our community, He has also called us to minister to one another. Although some days can be long and weigh heavy on our hearts, we know we serve a God in Heaven who is in control of EVERYTHING. He has called us to His perfect plan and gives us the strength we need to fight our adversary and to stand firm in life s battles. He gives us the words, prayers, and wisdom we need to speak into one another s lives as well as into the lives of our clients. I share this with you to ask you, our friends and supporters, as you pray for those to whom we minister, please also pray for our volunteers, our staff, and our board. I AM WITH YOU... I would like to share a devotion I read from Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. It greatly encouraged me and hope that it will you as well: I AM WITH YOU, watching over you constantly. I am Immanuel (God with you); My Presence enfolds you in radiant Love. Nothing, including the brightest blessings and the darkest trials can separate you from Me. Some of My children find Me more readily during dark times, when difficulties force them to depend on Me. Others feel closer to Me when their lives are filled with good things. They respond with thanksgiving and praise, thus opening wide the door to My Presence. I know precisely what you need to draw nearer to Me. Go through each day looking for what I have prepared for you. Accept every event as My hand-tailored provision for your needs. When you view your life this way, the most reasonable response is to be thankful. Do not reject any of My gifts; find Me in every situation. WE NEED YOUR HELP! WE WELCOME INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS AND GROUP DONATIONS. If your women s ministry, mission s ministry, Sunday school class, or youth group is looking for a service project in your community, please call and we can tell you several ways you can minister to Birth Choice clients and their new babies! CURRENT NEEDS IN OUR RESOURCE ROOM: Diapers - all sizes Wipes - large and travel size Baby shampoo, baby wash Thermometers Nail clippers, hair brushes, combs Safety items, etc. Bottles boy & girl Diaper bags Bath towels/wash cloths Cribs (law requires cribs made in 2012 only) Car Seats (if used, less than 5 years old) High Chairs Strollers Bouncy seats Swings WE HAVE A PRAISE! KIM MAYER Nurse Manager Then you will understand what is right and just and fair every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Proverbs 2:9-10...a myriad of emotions can unfold The images seen on ultrasound can bring wisdom into a woman s heart and forever change lives. When a client sees her baby on the ultrasound screen, a myriad of emotions can unfold. Some are immediately tearful, some are joyful, some laugh and giggle with happiness, some show little emotion and some even look away, unable to face the reality of her child within. My heart breaks for the woman who looks away, uncertain of what lies ahead in her future or the future of her child. While they believe a quick fix is the answer to their problem, they can t fully comprehend the nightmare and pain that their decision may render. If only they could see. We get very excited when an abortion minded woman changes her heart toward her baby and chooses life. Often times this change of heart occurs in the ultrasound room as they see that precious life before their eyes. It is nothing short of a miracle. It is nothing short of a miracle. A few months ago I had the opportunity to experience this miracle as it unfolded. When I asked the woman what helped to change her mind, she said I realized that I have to grow up and take responsibility for my actions. I m going to parent my baby. Taking responsibility for our actions is a concept we could all embrace, from the town square to the capital. Ultrasound not only provides a window into the womb but also a glimpse into the truth and miracle of life. God s truth speaks through technology and often times at that moment, a woman s heart is changed forever. A Class United We at Birth Choice are often overwhelmed by the kindness of our Father. He provides what we need time and time again. The ability of His Holy Spirit to burden the hearts of fellow believers for His children, both born and unborn is something we rejoice in often. On Thursday, October 11, I had the priviledge to meet with a group of students from Union University s Center for Continuing Studies. This encounter was one of those times of rejoicing. This group of students did not consist of what you might times of rejoicing consider the typical college kid. Many of these students are married, work full-time, have kids, all while completing their college degree. But this hectic lifestyle filled with responsibility did not stop this group from taking responsibilty for God s children in our area. They collected donations- clothing, carseats, diapers, wipes, formula, and even monitary gifts. We have had many groups do this in my time here, but none to this magnitude. They brought 6, I repeat, SIX truckloads of items. I was not prepared for the richness the Lord would pour out through them.... the HUGE impact they just made. With a full heart, I was able to share with them the HUGE impact they had just made for the Kingdom of God. That though it may seem like just stuff, God uses our resources to change and to save lives in BIG ways. I have been able to see the joy on mother s faces as they received the items that were brought. One client said I prayed my baby would have something this nice. She had planned on getting an abortion before coming here. THANK YOU. For your impact on our ministry and on me. KATY SIMPSON Receptionist, Jackson 6
