Reflections: Welcome Scenes from an Italian Restaurant Childhood When I was a kid growing up in Somerville, MA, all of my best friends were musicians. And nearly all of them were Italian. That they were all musicians is really no surprise. No one could understand the lifestyle choices a young musician makes than other aspiring musicians (hours of practice and constant frustration that you'll never be as good as you want, being absent from many social events and parties where nonmusical friends were having a good time, this all so you could get in more practice). Whenever I did leave the relative safety of my piano bench, it was to venture to friends' houses to jam, listen to and dissect music, razz each other for not practicing enough that week, and, of course...to eat! I must've had a sign on me that said 'Feed Me' because as soon as I walked through the door, my friend's mother or grandmother, neither of whom spoke a word of English, somehow instantly knew that I was hungry. At Michael's house, it was his Nona who would produce plates of braciole with ziti and meatballs. Anthony's mom was Calabrese and would have fresh tomatoes, olives and olive oil laid out with a huge round loaf of bread from the Italian bakery up the street that we'd just rip pieces off of and mop up the olive oil that dripped off the tomato slices. I'm hungry just thinking about this! It is in this spirit of sharing a meal that I invite all of you to join us on Saturday, August 4th, for our 'Scenes from an Italian Restaurant' spaghetti supper and after concert featuring the music of Billy Joel. The supper will be in the parish center after the 4:30 mass. After dinner, people are invited upstairs where I'll be playing my favorite Billy Joel songs at the piano. After the concert, there will even be dessert downstairs for those interested in buying a ticket. I hope you'll join us for this great opportunity to raise funds for our Faith Formation team as they look to expand the very important work they do with our kids. Ticket info will be in the bulletin so please keep an eye out. Spaghetti and meatballs, music and then more food? Sounds like I'm visiting a friend's house all over again! Welcome Back St. Patrick s teens, Deacon Chris and Aileen from the Steubenville Youth Conference 2018!

I have met a lot of very nice people during my involvement with this ministry but I would like to take a moment to tell you about the greeters themselves.
