Effective Ministry through Teaching Christian Education Day 2015 Class Descriptions & Synopsis Presenter Name Workshop Name Workshop Description Lady Faye Johnson "The Power of Prayer" Prayer is an essential ingredient in the life of the believer. It is through prayer that we communicate with God. This workshop will be beneficial to the new convert and the mature believer alike. Prayers like Hezekiah s, who turned his face to the wall and was granted a 15 year extension on his life; releases the power of God, transforming the natural with the supernatural. Dr. Evelena Oliver "The Power of Praise" Akin to prayer is the weapon of praise. This workshop will answer in simplicity the following: What is praise? Who can praise? How do you praise? And Why should you praise? At the conclusion of this workshop the student will be well equipped to thrust themselves into a lifestyle of praise. Elder Nico Hood "Who is the Holy Spirit How does He Operate?" The Holy Spirit and His work is often confusing to many. The Holy Spirit is a part of the Trinity Father, Son and Spirit. The Holy Spirit demonstrates and reveals the heart of God to mankind, teaches, leads, and comforts. Without the receiving and filling of the Holy Spirit, many believers live defeated lives; however with the Holy Spirit, God s enabling power causes us to prevail victoriously. Elder Cynthia Crumel Bishop Richard W. Johnson Pastor Donnie McLean Bishop Ronnie Hood Pastor Rodney Parker "Prayer, Power & Praise Lab" "Bridging the Gap: The Power of Mentoring" Panel Session The Prayer, Power & Praise Lab will be an opportunity for all students to put into practice what they have learned in previous sessions, about The Power of Prayer, The Power of Praise and, Who is the Holy Spirit?. Acts 3:1-8 reveals that prayer begat power, and power begat praise. The greatest leaders in the world are always mindful of not only the present condition of their organizations, but the future state as well. Succession is important and must be implemented strategically to ensure our Lord s Church advances. This workshop will be tagged teamed by one of our Sr. Leaders and a younger Pastor whom have cultivated a mentoring relationship that has proven to benefit each of them and the churches they serve. The workshop will deal with the aspects of mentoring.

Elder Beverly Brooks Summers "Church Administration and Organizational Structure" The church is a living organism which in effort to be healthy, must be sound in its administration and organizational structure. The absence of order brings chaos. Are there areas in your ministry that are chaotic? Perhaps the implementation of a few processes, just might be the answer to ensuring that your church is foundationally and spiritually healthy. Elder Shirley Melvin "So You Say You re on a Mission? Revitalizing Mission" Christ s Church was commissioned to make disciples The importance of the Great Commission in this day has dwindled and in many areas, the ministry of missions has ceased. We are called to love and serve mankind, provoking them to enter into right relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. This workshop is designed to revitalize the church s commitment to the Lord s work and to assist in re-establishing the work of missions wherever necessary. Bishop Alton Smith Dr. Robert D. Hood "Pulpit Etiquette & Protocol" In the age of technology and media progressing at an alarming rate, churches are shifting to various digital mediums. Due to this, it is important that those Presiding during services, and pulpit guests, are not only sensitive to the Holy Spirit, but that they also operate in a spirit of professionalism and excellence. This workshop will expound upon what is or is not appropriate during a worship service, teaching the importance of pulpit etiquette and protocol. Reverend Timothy Dortch "The Art of Sermon Writing & Obtaining Divine Revelation" The Bible instructs us that the gifts of God are without repentance, meaning God does not change His mind about the gifts he bestows upon an individual, however, he will revoke the privilege to use the gift at His perfect Will. Improper use of our gifts hinders us and stagnates the church. This workshop is designed to teach the student the difference between talent and anointing, the basics of sermon writing and how to obtain divine revelation. Remember, people are saved by what the bible calls the foolishness of preaching come and sharpen your sermon writing skills for the sake of advancing the Kingdom. Deacon David Harris Discipleship: Effectively nurturing new converts The Great Commission commands us to make disciples. Simply put, we are to assist the new convert in making them disciplined. In this workshop, the facilitator will expound upon what is working in his local church in the area of discipleship and how others can implement these proven strategies to promote spiritual growth and development.
