DRIVERS NEEDED FOR LUMC MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION MINISTRY The Lewisville United Methodist Community Medical Transportation Program was begun prior to 1990. I remember because Ruth Hartle, Mary Pratt, and Mary Boyd assisted my brother and me with taking our Mom for daily radiation treatments. My, such a blessing. When she passed away, I do not remember who coordinated the program until 1993, when I was asked by Mo Voss to assist her with the program. We have had many volunteers since then. Some of those that you will know who were volunteering as far back as 1993 were of course Mo Voss, Margaret Lee, Howard Kirk, Betty Leslie, Carol Cox, John Simmons and many others. At that time we had 25 to 30 volunteer drivers, transported many of our neighbors in the Lewisville community, and took those who needed medical transportation on a daily basis when needed. Our list of volunteers has dwindled over the years. Now we only have 9 volunteers. We have an urgent need right now. A lady has just moved here to live with her brother. She goes to the Miller Street Dialysis Center on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Her brother is asking for our assistance by picking her up at the Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2pm. If you are able to commit for Thursday afternoons, please let me know. I have a driver who is picking up on Tuesdays. This volunteer does not attend our church and lives in Winston-Salem, but has been volunteering for 2-3 years. I would really appreciate your help. If unable to help with this need but would like more information about the program, please contact me. Thanks so much, Jackie Harrell (336) 331-3242
