Mt. Zion Church of Ontario Statement to Read before Leading Responsive Reading Acts 2:41-47 (NASB) Good Morning! Our theme for 2018 is Living for God-Sized Results! Join me in reading the refreshing teaching from Jesus, regarding living for God-sized results. Minister 41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. Congregation 42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Minister 43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. Congregation 44 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; Minister Everyone 45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. 46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. 3

The Holy Spirit Empowered Church Acts 2:41-47 Pastor Brian Kennedy, Sr. TEXT QUESTIONS TO PASTOR AS HE IS PREACHING TO: (909) 638-2696 Key Statement: What can we learn from the first Christians regarding the Holy Spirit empowered church? A. They Experienced the Transforming Power of God s Word (Acts 2:42a; 38-41). Despite the hecklers, 3,000 people were saved from hearing God s Word. Ref. 7/8/18 sermon. B. They Experienced Enriching Relationships (Acts 2:42b). Ref. 7/8/18 sermon. They enjoyed mutual interest and sharing relationships. C. They Experienced Faith Building Interactions (Acts 2:42c). Ref. 7/8/18 sermon. Participating in The Lord s Supper & love meals built mutual faith in God. D. They Experienced God Daily Through (Acts 2:42d). Their prayers kept them connected to divine power. E. They Experienced the Ongoing Wow Factor (Acts 2:43). The center of their human existence (intellect, emotions, will) was stimulated and constantly satisfied by the presence and power of God. F. They Experienced Mutual Care & Concern (Acts 2:44-45). God resourced Christians and they helped each other because of His love. G. They Experienced Growth Driven Interactions (Acts 2:46-47). They continually worshiped together in God s house (v. 46a). They continually enjoyed meals together (Lord s Supper as well) (v. 46). They continually shared joy and authenticity in their relationships (v. 46). They continually made God the focus of their praise (v. 47a). They continually saw the results of sharing the gospel (v. 47b). Personal : Lord, thank You for the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth. Lord, You give me experiences in the church through Your presence and power, which keeps me refreshed, and positively developing. Lord, protect me from attraction based living and ministry, and help me continually be transformed by Your Word, enjoy enriching relationships, enjoy faith building interactions, enjoy divine power through prayer, enjoy the ongoing wow factor, enjoy mutual care and concern, and enjoy growth driven interactions. I live to love and serve You. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen. 8
