Introductory Lesson Who is our Prophet? The Seerah Prophet is someone who Allah sent to people to teach them about their creator. Allah sent Prophet Mohammed to teach all peoples about Islam. When we say the Prophet s name, or hear someone else say it, we should say, Sallallahu alayhee wa selem. Sallallahu alayhee wa selem. Mean Allah s prayer and peace be upon him. Seerah is the story of the Prophet and the people who lived with him. Seerah tells us about the life of Prophet Mohammed. Seerah tells us about the Prophet childhood and his family. Lesson One The Prophet Childhood (1) 64 The Prophet Mohammed was born in Makkah. Sallallahu alayhee wa selem He was born on the12th Rabi al-awal, more than 1400 years ago. Sallallahu alayhee wa selem The year the prophet was born was called the year of Elephant (Aam al-fil). Sallallahu alayhee wa selem He was named Mohammed by his grandfather. Sallallahu alayhee wa selem The prophet belonged to Quraish tribe. His father was called Abdallah. His father died before his birth. Sallallahu alayhee wa selem His mother was called Aminah bint Wahb.

Lesson Two The Prophet Childhood (2) Read: When the prophet was six, his mother died. After the death of the prophet s mother, he was brought up by his grandfather Abd al- Muttalib who loved him very much. His grandfather died when he was eight. After the death of his grandfather, his uncle Abu Talib took care of him. Learn: Prophet Mohammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Salam) His Mother is Aminah. His Father is Abdullah. His Grandfather is Abdul-Muttalib. His Great Grandfather is Hashim. His Great-Great Grandfather is Abdu-Manaf. He was from the tribe of Quraish. He is the best of all creations. He was raised by his grandfather Abdul-Muttalib. He was an orphan, his mother died when he was 6 years old. 65

Lesson Three Read: The Prophet Childhood (3) The Prophet s uncle Abu Talib was a merchant who traveled with the caravans from Makkah to Bilad Al-Sham for trading. 66 Read: When Prophet Mohammad was young, he was very honest with people. The people, therefore, respected him very much and used to call him al-sadiq (the truthful) and al-amin (the trustworthy). Read: Prophet Mohammad did not pray to idols as the people of Makkah did. He used to go to the cave at mount Hira to worship his creator.

Lesson Four Let us learn a Story The Story of the Year of Elephant Abraha was the governor of Yemen He attacked Makkah with his men on elephants. Allah sent to attack Abraha and his men. The birds dropped stones made from hot clay on them and destroyed Abraha`s men and his Elephants. Allah saved the Kabbah Allah told us about the story of the year of Elephant in the Holy Quran. Retell the story to your classmates. 67
