I and the Father are One by Victor Torres Introduction This study is about the spiritual meaning of the number one in the Holy Scriptures. There is another study that deals with the same topic given by a brother about 8 years ago and, Lord willing, this study would complement and serve as chewing the cud of that study (a link is provided at the end). Chewing the cud is meditating on God's Word day and night. It is looking for the spiritual meaning behind the letter, for it is the Spirit that gives life and the flesh profits nothing (Job 33:4, Joh 6:63). It is for those who delight in the law of God after the inward man (Eze 36:27, Rom 7:22), for those who keep the sayings of the prophecy of this book for the time is at hand (Psa 119:48, Rev 1:3). It is for those who love God with all their heart, and with all their soul and with all their mind (Deu 6:5, Mat 22:37) Jos 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 1Ti 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. 1Ti 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. Clean meats

Deu 14:4 These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat, Deu 14:6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat. Ecc 3:18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. 1Co 10:11 (Darby) Now all these things happened to them as types, and have been written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come. Cloven-footed animals are types of us when we search the scripture for two or more verses to support any teaching (Deu 19:15, 2Pe 1:20). Cud chewing animals are types of us when we are given the desire to meditate on His words and the gift to see the spiritual meaning behind the letters (Joh 6:63, 1Co 2:13). We need to be both cloven-footed and cud-chewing to be considered clean by God (see links to the study of the spiritual meaning of sheep and ox in the end of this paper). Neither qualities are of our own doing (Php 2:13): Exo 4:11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Joh 9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. Unclean meat Lev 11:7 (MKJV) And the swine, though he divides the hoof and is cloven-footed, yet he does not chew the cud; he is unclean to you. Lev 11:8 (MKJV) You shall not eat of their flesh, and you shall not touch their

dead body. They are unclean to you. To quote a study of the spiritual significance of swine: So swine, in scripture, are seen as being similar to what is clean, yet because swine do not chew the cud, because they do not ruminate, because swine do not have the ability to meditate on God s word day and night, they are not to be considered as clean. Those who cannot discern unclean swine, will eat them and touch them and become, themselves, unclean. (the link to that study is provided in the end) Isa 6:9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Luk 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Spiritual swine are the many called who stopped following Christ when they did not understand what our Lord meant when He told them to eat His flesh and drink His blood. Joh 6:60 66 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

Wisdom to the few chosen 1Co 2:6 Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. 1Co 2:7 But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. 1Co 2:8 None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 1Co 2:9 But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him" 1Co 2:10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit [His Word, Joh 6:63]. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. One = Unity Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. The unity of a married couple typifies the unity between God and His Son (Rom 1:20 see the link for The Purpose of the Institution of Marriage study at the end of this paper) Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one. How is this unity achieved? The only way true unity is achieved is by the body's total subjection to the head. The Father who is the Head, says and does everything through Christ, His body. Christ did not seek His own will (Joh 5:30,

Joh 6:38), but lived His life in the flesh for the sole purpose of glorifying His Father (Psa 40:8, Joh 17:4). Christ did not say or do anything that the Father did not want Him to say or do (Joh 4:34). Our Lord recognized His Father as the only true God (Joh 17:3) and everything that He has as coming from the Father (Joh 7:16, Mat 11:27, Dan 7:14) 1Co 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Joh 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak Joh 5:19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, The Son can do nothing of Himself but what He sees the Father do. For whatever things He does, these also the Son does likewise. Ye are of your father the devil Why am I emphasizing the importance of submissiveness? Because it is not in our nature to be submissive! We are first carnal before we are spiritual (1Co 15:46). We are all by nature the children of wrath (Jer 25:15), the children of disobedience who walks according to the prince of the power of the air. Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

We all live fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind at first. And what is the biggest desire of this carnal mind of ours? To oppose and exalt itself above all that is called God or that is worshiped (2Th 2:4) All of us are the children of the wicked one first (Mat 13:38), the children of this world (Luk 16:8) desiring all that is in the world before some of us whom He choose in this life are given the desire to follow Him and take up his cross (1Co 1:18, Heb 12:2) Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Gal 5:19 21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Hatred, strife, envyings, seditions, heresies...no wonder there are thousands of Christian denominations that claims the name of the Lord. Even the apostles and disciples lived by these words that proceeded out of the mouth of God (Deu 8:3, Mat 4:4). Luk 22:24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be

accounted the greatest. Mar 8:32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. Mar 8:33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men. The Father is not pleased with this conduct for He opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble (Pro 3:34, 1Pe 5:5). We are admonished to do nothing from selfish ambition but to esteem others better than ourselves (Rom 12:10, Php 2:3). Luk 22:25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. Luk 22:26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts And He shall be called everlasting Father Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Jesus Christ is called the mighty God and everlasting Father (see letter regarding this subject at the end of this study) because God the Father created Him first and He then created all things, visible and invisible (Rev 3:14, Col 1:16). This is, in no way denying the truth of 1Co 8:6 and Eph 4:6.

1Co 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. A few people in every generation are predestinated by God to be conformed to the image of his Son (Isa 51:16, Rom 8:29). He is receiving them into the kingdom of Heaven by humbling them as little children (Pro 3:11 12, Mat 18:3,4). Heb 12:5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Heb 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? Heb 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons Did you notice that? In due time, all will be partakers of chastisement. Pray to God that yours take place in this life, for judgment must begin at the house of God (Eze 36:25, 1Pe 4:17). Without chastisement, you are bastards and not sons, in other words, you are still of your father the devil. Heb 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

There's that word again, subjection, that the flesh really hates. How about submitting yourselves one to another? The carnal mind hates that too, especially the last part of that verse (Eph 5:21)...Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. How about being subject to the higher powers, to rulers which include the governments of this world? Do we believe in what the Scriptures tell us in Rom 13:1 3 that they are ordained of God, and that they are not a terror to good works? How about the wives subjecting themselves to their own husbands in everything (Eph 5:24)? You know it is utterly impossible for the flesh if your eyes are opened to Eve's punishment for eating of the tree of good and evil. Servants must be subject to their masters with all fear not only to the kind but also to the cruel (1Pe 2:18). The younger must submit to the elder, be clothed with humility (1Pe 5:5). Why are we given all these admonitions? Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Going back to chastisement, whereof all are partakers, what is its purpose? Is it to torture the majority of mankind in a literal lake of fire for all eternity as orthodox Christianity teaches? Heb 12:10 For they [fathers of our flesh] verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he [God] for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Wow! Contrary to orthodox Christian teaching, God's chastisement is actually for our profit! 1Co 11:32 says that when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord. What is the end result of God's judgment?

Isa 26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. We must be subjected to Christ who is our head, the same way He has subjected Himself to the Father when He was on this earth (Joh 13:16, Mar 1:7). Christ says and does everything through His body, the church (Joh 20:21, Eph 3:20). We should not seek our own will, but the will of our Lord who sent us (2Sa 15:15, Mat 6:10). We should not say or do anything that the Lord does not want us to say or do (Deu 30:13, Mat 12:37). Psa 103:20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. We should strive to be like Him in every way (Eph 4:13). Our desire should be to think every thought, to say every word, and to do every thing to the glory of the Father (1Th 4:1, 1Co 10:31, Php 4:8). Christ is our head and we are one body baptized into one Spirit (1Co 12:13). We must not let ourselves or anyone in the body to think above what is written (Pro 3:7). 1Co 4:6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another. The teachers and elders in the body are not excepted to this rule, for God is not a respecter of persons (Deu 10:17, Rom 2:11). Even Peter after his conversion, needed the loving rebuke of Paul when he separated himself from the Gentiles

(Gal 2:11,12) (See a link in the end of a study about the correction in the body of Christ). Col 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men; Col 3:24 knowing that from the Lord you shall receive the reward of the inheritance. For you serve the Lord Christ. Col 3:25 But he who does wrong shall receive justice for the wrong which he did, and there is no respect of persons. We must not allow anyone to establish doctrine with just one verse of Scripture which is what the denominations of orthodox Christianity does. Some Christian leaders dictate to their members who to vote for during elections in the guise of unity and their members follow them not knowing the voice of the True Shepherd (Eph 4:14, Joh 10:27). (A link to a paper whether Christians should vote is posted in the end). Psa 119:160 (ASV) The sum of thy word is truth; And every one of thy righteous ordinances endureth for ever. Joh 18:36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world." 2Ti 2:4 No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of this life; that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier. Here are some more admonitions from the Father to His children to be truly united with Him, in contrast with the unity that Babylon has with its father the devil: While Babylon is united in a lie that all you have to do is confess that Jesus Christ

is your Lord and savior and you will be saved, everyone who has been born of God is admonish to do this: 1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 1Jn 5:4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world our faith. While Babylon is united in the lie that we must protect our country and our families by killing our enemies, the children of the Highest are admonished: Luk 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Luk 6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. While Babylon is united with the lie of unity in the essentials and tolerance in the non-essentials,and let's all just get along, the admonition for the children of God: 2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2Co 6:17 18 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing [spiritual swine]; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. While Babylon is united in the lie that All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing, and that we must fight for our rights, the sons of God are admonished:

Php 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: Php 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; While Babylon is united in the so-called prosperity gospel, that the riches of this world are the true blessings from God, the heirs of God are admonished: Rom 8:16 18 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 1Pe 1:14 15 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! (Psa 133:1). Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment (1Co 1:10). We must endeavor (be diligent, labor, study) to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Eph 4:3), until we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ (Eph 4:13) 1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1Jn 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

If you are in Christ and He is in you, you can boldly proclaim to this world: I and the Father are one.
