Smith s s Fall Newsletter is Out! The fall newsletter from Fr. Smith is being mailed to all POP parishioners and it is filled with great news! A financial gift is made to the parish! Plans to move forward with a new big church/school sign! Master Planning process to begin for church and school! New 9 acres now paid for & parish completely debt-free. To read more, go to the parish website or follow Dr. Pennell s link in his Friday e-mail message. Class Schedule SWITCHEROO Next Wednesday and Friday!! Basically, Wednesday moves to Friday, and Friday moves to Wednesday. The Arts classes (Computer, Art, Latin, Music, Library) that usually meet on Wednesdays will meet instead on Friday next week, and vice versa. This is to accommodate the Mass moving from Wednesday to Friday because All Saints on Friday is a Holy Day of Obligation. Remember to wear your DRESS UNIFORM on Friday next week. 1

Parish Picnic THIS Sunday This year s Parish Picnic kicks off with a Eucharistic Procession in honor of the Traditional Feast of Christ the King. The procession will begin immediately following the 12PM Sung Choral Mass in the Extraordinary Form. Children are welcome to wear their Saint Costume in the procession. * The Knights of Columbus will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs, slaw, beans, chips and drinks. Beer will be served for an additional purchase. Please plan on bringing a family-sized dessert to share! * Prince of Peace Catholic School will offer popcorn and sno-cones. * The Boy Scouts will have a pumpkin carving station bring your own pumpkin! * Our CYO students will host face-painting and field games on the soccer field and the POP PTO will have a few carnival games to play with prizes for the younger crowd! * At 2:30PM all our Saints will be invited to parade around the field for trick or treating! * At 4:00PM, please join Fr Smith on the mound to witness the burning of the mortgage to the church and celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the dedication of our church! Tickets are available at the door: $5 ages 13 & up, $3 ages 5-12, under 5 are free! $25 maximum per family. Report Cards Quarter 2 officially began on Thursday, October 24 th. Report card grades will be visible under the Term Grade section by Monday morning, 9AM, October 28 th. If you have questions about a grade don t hesitate to contact your teacher. Remember that POPCS s commitment to posting student grades in this new information age we live in means that parents can see every grade and every assignment in the digital gradebook in a way they couldn t just 10 years ago when all that remained hidden in a teacher s paper gradebook. Take advantage of the info available! If you want a paper report card or a PDF e- mailed, we can also do that for you. Please contact Mrs. Simpson in the school office. Uniform Reminders Mrs. Hennessy reports that she has many jumpers, short sleeved shirts and several sweaters in the girl s uniform exchange. If you are in need of any of these items, please email her at kathy.hennessy@att.net. 2

Chilly weather is here! Please remember to send jackets, labeled with your child s name, in with your child to use during recess. School sweaters may be worn in the classroom if your child is cold. Also, girls may wear white tights under their jumpers to help keep them warm, but they must be white and cannot be leggings. Shorts under jumpers, highly recommended, should not be showing from the bottom of the jumper. Fundraising Dollars Last week we received $382.76 from Publix Partners, a grocery program through Publix that gives 1% of sales back to schools when the Publix Partners card is used. If you need a card, please see the school office. We also received $137 from Target Facebook challenge Target Gives. Thank you families for voting for our school through their Facebook campaign. Financial Updates Drafting of School Fees Parents, Mrs. Hindman has changed the Vanco draft to more closely reflect the charges that are being withdrawn from your accounts. Going forward, any amount drafted from your account should say: Prince of Peace TTN/LCH/AC Which stands for Tuition, Lunch payments and Aftercare. Lunch will normally be drafted on the 3rd. Aftercare monthly payers are on the 1st and after care drop ins are drafted on the 30th of the next month. Lunch Orders due MIDNIGHT TONIGHT November lunch orders are due in OptionC by midnight tonight, October 25 th. Please use your Parent Login to order lunches and if you are ordering for more than one student, make sure you click place order at the bottom of each students order screen. Payments are due to the school office by November 1 st unless you have a draft set up for lunch payments. A $5 late fee per student will be assessed after November 1 st. Students enjoyed Spirit Day this past Monday with a serving of Mummy Dogs and some fall treats! Thank you parents and Mrs. Zimmerman for organizing our Spirit Day! 3

Students in K4, Kindergarten and First grade enjoyed a visit from the Fire Department this week that included a tour of a fire truck. Also, the children learned about safety with a visit from the SMOKEHOUSE. No, it wasn t bar-b-que. Students learned about getting low to the ground and how to get safely out of a building when there is a lot of smoke in the air.
