Congratulations and may God Bless our parishioners who are celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary! You have done it all with faith and love together. As you journey on to find tomorrow, go with love and always go with God. Happy 50 th Wedding Anniversary!

This weekend, we observe in our parishes the consecration of the Diocese of Greensburg to Our Lady of Fatima. The Pennsylvania bishops consecrated the state to Our Lady of Fatima on September 27 at a Mass in Harrisburg, and Bishop Malesic consecrated the diocese to Our Lady of Fatima on October 7 at the diocesan Rosary Rally. The consecrations are on the occasion of the 100 th anniversary of the final apparition of Mary to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, on Oct. 13, 1917. Consecration of the Diocese of Greensburg to Our Lady of Fatima Mary, conceived without sin, Christ gave you to us as our Mother. We are grateful for your maternal care. As Our Lady of the Assumption, the Patroness of our Diocese, we rejoice that you are the Queen of Heaven and Earth. You lead us to Jesus and intercede for us with love. We seek refuge in your mantle of protection. Help us in our struggle against evil and inspire us to seek only what is good. In memory of your appearances at Fatima, we consecrate the Diocese of Greensburg to you. We ask for peace in our homes and throughout the world. Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Imprimatur The Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic, JCL Bishop of Greensburg October 7, 2017 Keeping in our prayers and trusting that God will bring to their families comfort in the days ahead, we commend to your prayers the souls of Sandra Cassidy and Vincent Martino Know that the Lord has welcomed our loved ones into the home of Heaven. Accept the invitation Have you ever shown up at a party or other social function only to realize you re woefully underdressed? It s unnerving to realize everyone else is in formal wear when you came ready for a picnic. In today s gospel Jesus taps into the powerful symbol of clothing as revealer of our interior disposition when he tells about the wedding guests who uninvite themselves by showing up in the wrong clothes - that is, unprepared to join the celebration. It s not that Jesus is a stickler for fashion do s and don ts, but he cares enormously about the state of our hearts. And so should we. TODAY'S READINGS: Isaiah 25:6-10a; Philippians 4:12-14, 19-20; Matthew 22:1-14 (142). Many are called, but few are chosen. Join us for our 4-part series brought to us by the Sisters of Charity. Come to each one, or just to the topic that interests you. Each talk will be from 7 PM to 9 PM in the parish social hall. Refreshments and discussions will be included in the evening. There is no charge to attend, but please RSVP to the Parish Office at 724-834-3710 so we can plan properly. She explains how close examination of the Church's teachings on family life and artificial contraception led her to embrace the fullness of the Faith, and why she came to believe that the Roman Catholic Church is the Church founded by Christ. Overcoming the New Age Movement ($4 Apologetics CD) Listen as a former new ager and Catholic convert Matthew Arnold shares his incredible journey from darkness into the light. Learn how this magic consultant and performer in the entertainment industry came to the truth that set him free from the powers of the occult as he talks about new age practices and their incompatibility with the timeless teachings of Christ and His Church. Making Sense Out of Suffering ($4 CD) We all experience suffering at some time in our lives. Our tribulations range from small disappointments to serious tragedies. Listen as scripture scholar and lay theologian, Dr. Scott Hahn, makes sense out of suffering by drawing from the wisdom and insight of God's Word. He helps us find the meaning of our suffering by showing us how to unite it to the suffering of Christ on the Cross.
